Good room and location

Pillows rather old! Nee,d re,placing.

I went here with 2 of my friends and we stayed in the Deluxe King Room (if I’m not mistaken). It was only RM200 (with taxes) for 3d2n. We were so surprised to find a bathtub and a balcony with seaview on our room (No. 604). I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels, luxury, 5 stars, 4 stars whatever, but I really love this hotel. When we arrived, we were in awe, and when we left, we were so happy we chose this hotel. To mention, my friends and I dont have driving license so we walked everywhere we want to go, and let me tell you, this hotel is placed in a very strategic location in walking distance (the furthest we walked was 1km away, about 25mins). Once you step out of the hotel, you gotta choose if you want to go left, right or turn back. If you go left, you’ll arrive at the famous Nasi Kandar Line Clear, Chowrasta Road, Chowrasta Market, KOMTAR and such. If you go right, you can arrive at Padang Kota Lama. If you turn back, you’ll arrive at Cheong Fatt Tze, Little India, the jetty (forgot the name) and many more. We truly enjoyed our stay here. The bed was comfortable. I fell asleep very easily. The staffs were so friendly and sweet. We even got to leave our bags after checking out (Check out at 12pm, but our flight at 8pm, and we planned to walk around a bit more before leaving for the airport), and also when we arrived but we can’t check in yet because the rooms were not ready (Checked in at 2pm, arrived at 11am). It was a pleasant stay. The huge windows gives a beautiful natural lighting and many different big mirrors really helped us three women having smooth application of makeup and in fact it turned out so well haha!! Thank you Merchant Hotel for being one of the excellent parts in creating bits of memories of us three in our memorable vacation!!! :D

The door for the balcony doesnt shut closed well. At night, it keeps on banging slowly everytime the wind hits it. It kept me awake for a few times because I thought it was a ghost and so I got scared hahaha! But after the first night, I learnt it was NOT a ghost, so it didn’t matter to me anymore.

Counter Mr Hafiz and the two trainers was helpful and very friendly.The kitchen Breakfast staffs,Chef Ms Agnes Yeo prepared Good breakfast foods,Sophie and the Indian gentleman who served,was very courtesy...Good job,well done !!!. Hotel rooms,although it is an old hotel,the house keeping staffs done a good job too.Hope to see a Smart TV on my next trip.Wifi was good. The ground floor gent's toilet has ceiling leaks,already Informed Mr Hafiz. Hotel areas surrounding facilities is acceptable.Walking distance to Chowrasta night street foods. Taxi stand/services just a 5 minutes walking distance. Taxi driver uncles are very friendly...very good. That's all I can think of. Overall is GOOD..8.5 Rating

Nothing bad to comment. Importantly are the staffs services and attitudes who makes our stay comfortable. Your hotel has a group of good staffs. Thumb up !

it has a tub! older hotels tend to have bath tubs compared to newer hotels. even if they do, its at a higher price. and location wise, just walking distance to a 7e and nasi kandar line clear. comfy beds. the parking is sufficient but since its deep in penang, can get cramped so trucks/mpvs might have a problem, the guard/staff were helpful and the breakfast and lunch service was good (custom cooked) as long as you dont expect full on buffet

can get a bit noisy at times because there's a club / karaoke nearby. water heating takes abit of time to warm up but works well. also the staff should be abit more responsive to questions here. because we wanted to confirm about the lunch and breakfast arrangement but did not get a response in time.

I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times because of its jacuzzi. For an affordable hotel to come with jacuzzi, it's definitely something I look for because jacuzzi normally comes with expensive hotels and exclusive suite rooms. The hotel is strategically located at the capital city of Penang, easy access to facilities i.e. convenient stores, food premises, business premises, petrol station et cetera at walking distance. Car park is available for the customers at all times. The room is kept clean at all times, complementary is given in the room and strong WiFi signal.

Nothing. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel.

Private parking provided. Check-in process was smooth. Hotel located nearby tourist spot and easy to find food restaurant around. Not in crowded area. There's many Beca services around if anyone want to ride it

Pillow so soft make me sleep uncomfortably. Wifi line very unstable while access. Needed more soundproofing in every room because can hear loud noise from upper floor and outside of the room. There have bathtub but cannot be use because the drainhole was open and can't be closed.

Breakfast was good, we ordered a big breakfast every morning. Fruits were not served every day, but it's okay. The room is spacious, however maybe the hotel is just beside the food court beside, it gets a bit noisy during the night, but still, it didn't affect our sleep. The location is just great, as the food court is just right beside the hotel, and the chowrasta market, Penang street wall painting, Chew jetty are just within walking distance.

The pillows are too soft. The bathtub stopper won't fit the hole, so I cant fill the tub with water.

From the look of it, i can say that this hotel has aged. But, it was properly maintained. The fact that it comes with bath tub with such low price is a bonus. The bed was comfy enough and the space is sufficient. Housekeeping did a very good job of making sure our bed was made up everytime we left the room for activities around penang. The location is good.

Whenever we drained the tub, the water will flood the toilet area. It seems like there is a leak at the drain pipe which lead to this. Despite the mattress being so comfortable, the pillow seems like it has been beaten up,making it too soft.

Awesome! The bath tub. The location near to chawrasta street. Near to nasi kandar line clear, nasi kandar hamdeyah. Near to jeruk madu pak ali. Every where just need to walk about 5 to 10 minutes. So close, easy, and good. Also, the hotel provide car park(behind the hotel, just ask the staff during check in). First come, first serve. And lucky me, i got the free car park. There also paid car park, RM30 per night. The room is spacious 👍🏻 the staff really nice giving advice about which nasi kandar is better 😂🥰 so i go for nasi kandar hamdeyah. Check in really smooth and fast. Just love stay here, even just 1 night. 🌹👍🏻

Found 2 pieces hair in bath tub. Dust on the wall lamp frame.
