For a 2 star hotel it delivers better services and comfort than most 3 or 4 star hotels I've stayed in - The bathroom was impeccably clean - and maintained that way throughout my stay -Housekeeping was excellent - every day I came back to a fresh clean room that smelled amazing -When I arrived the in-room safe was beeping with battery low, and the front desk staff immediately came up to rectify that -Mini fridge and several cabinets to store your clothes & accessories -A very good sized room and bed for the amount paid -Excellent security 24/7

Really nit-picking here: -AC seems a bit dated, and needs a bit of fussing about to get the cooling started (else it stays in fan mode) -In the shower, the hot water took a while to come through. Was very temperamental - sometimes it came within a few seconds, other times it took about 2 minutes.

Great location, just adjacent to memory lane where the Sunday flea market happens. Lots of eateries (KFC, pizza hut, cafes, restaurants), within walking distance. The hotel cafe serves breakfast at 10RM, the quantity is a bit less though. Cafe is beautifully designed though. King size beds are huge and super comfortable. The staff is super helpful. Very central location and walking distance to Mural Lane and concubine lane. Grab taxi is immediately available and normal taxis are always stationed in front of the hotel. 7/11 is just besides the hotel as well. The Perak cave and the Sam Poh Tong cave complex/Mirror lake are sort of equidistant from this location. Wifi was quite good too.

French Hotel Ipoh offers a budget-friendly stay with a prime location in downtown Ipoh. Rooms are clean, compact, and comfortable, featuring strong A/C, good storage, fast Wi-Fi, and basic amenities. The bathroom is well-maintained with excellent water pressure. Staff are attentive, especially during a corridor flood incident. While some furnishings and the TV need updates, the hotel’s value and convenience make it ideal for short stays.

Very friendly staff and an efficient check in. Very well located within walking distance of the major sites, restaurants and cafes. The local area around the hotel is interesting to wander about early in the morning when the market is open. Large spotlessly clean room with comfortable beds, good hot showers and excellent wifi. Power sockets by the bed and the room had 2 international sockets. Small fridge and electric kettle in the room. Windows are double glazed and the rooms are quiet. This hotel is excellent value.

I personally think French Hotel is way better than some of the 3-star town / city hotel that I've stayed before. Location wise is good, it's nearby the Ipoh Parade, about 4-5mins driving distance from the happening area at night. Hotel staffs are friendly and attentive. I like the security of the hotel, anyone who would like to enter the lobby, will need to ring the bell, hotel guest can enter with the room key card. I love the handmade map at the main lobby, it definitely help the guests to explore around easily, especially those who would love to walk and explore. We stayed in room 310, the room is spacious, the bed is Super King, bathroom is clean, just that the lighting is not bright enough to my personal preference, but overall is ok. Aircond is LOVE, as we both likes cooling ambience. I read some of the reviews mentioned can't adjust the air-cond temperature, which is incorrect info. In fact we can adjust the temperature and fan speed of the aircond. Oh! There's a mini fridge in the room! Plus point for a 2-star hotel.

You can hear noise from outside the room, which could be annoying at times when you are resting and sleeping.

I had a great stay here. It matched my expectations of a nice place with no frills. The room was spacious and clean and the staff was nice. The location is very good, kind of in the middle between the attractions of New Town and Old Town. Everything was adequate for the price. They even sell postcards and stamps, very convenient if you like those things. No breakfast, there is a cafe but not sure it is still working, anyway it is easy to find options in Ipoh.

Some details are not 100% perfect like some marks on the wall and things like that - but nothing major or ugly and it certainly won't affect your stay. Not a problem but it was funny: it was very noisy very early on Sunday morning and we realised that we were right above the flea market! :D I am a light sleeper but I didn't mind too much because it allowed me to see some "real life" and forced me to start my day early and enjoy more things.

The hotel is by a busy road, but I didn’t hear much traffic noise in my room and was able to sleep well. Good location, you can walk around the city from the hotel. The train station is within walking distance too, but with luggage it may be better to take a grab (it was very cheap). Mini fridge in the room. I arrived around 12 pm and staff let me check in as my room was ready. I was able to store luggage after checking out, until evening.

On Sunday morning, there is a flea market right next to the hotel. The sellers started playing loud repetitive music at 5:30 am, it was very annoying!

Located less than 2km from Ipoh train station, French Hotel is good for both business and leisure. Friendly reception staff Amelia let us checked in although we arrived early on Saturday. Stayed in two spacious twin rooms with front view on the fifth floor for one night. Restaurants and eateries (bean sprouts chicken rice, dimsum, Tong Sui Kai & Pablo 101, etc), pastries shops and night market (Gerbang Malam) are within 10 minutes’ walk. On Sunday morning, there’s a market (PASAR KARAT @ MEMORY LANE @ PASAR LOKEN) just around the corner.

Excellent location. Walking distance to the old town, night market and good eateries. 711 just next door. About 20 mins walk to/from the railway station. Good decent size clean room with comfortable bed and pillows. Bathroom is clean and a little compact. Aircon works great and shower is hot. Cable TV channels is good and would be great if there is news channel. Staff very friendly and efficient.

Convenient to food & Nite market. Plus the Memory Lane is just right in-front of the hotel. Strategic location👍 The room was nice & comfy🩵

1. Toilet has to be properly cleaned & scrubbed…could see the Black Mould everywhere underneath the toilet bowl & shower wall. 2. All Staff - lack of courtesy…need to undergo Comm Skills thoroughly. ….except the Security Guard at night shift. Very humble & concern👍
