We loved our stay at the Village house. The house was full of character and perfect to relax in the pool or lounge areas after the outdoor activities around Sarawak. Laurence and the team helped organise our activities including Bako(~40min cab) and Semmenggoh (~1hr cab) and gave plenty of great local tips. The Food on site was great with a good range of local dishes. We would definitely recommend staying hear if you want to explore Sarawak and don’t want to stay in Kuching. We hope to revisit one day!

It was a very unique accommodation with basic facilities. Thank whole area is very clean as the staff kept it clean all the time. We were expected to take off our shoes/sandals/slippers at selected places within the resort. You can rest assured that the pool is very clean as the gardener or uncle keeps it clean every single morning. Not only he cleans the pool but the surrounding area too. If you like a quiet place for rejuvenating and don't mind the weather, this is a good place to be for few days.

You can't escape the heat anywhere within the resort especially in the afternoon. Not even the room with full blast of a/c.. It only cools down from the evening onwards. There are insects and ants all around the resort as there are trees and plants surrounding the area. They are absolutely nothing to look forward to out of the resort (the Santubong village is a very serene place). You can't find food around the area too in the afternoon. You can't walk onto the beach or swim in it as it's full of stones and pebbles. But the sunset is beautiful. There is no cup or coffee/tea facility in the room. I paid quite a high price for it and the system kept saying it's fully booked when there was no one else staying there!

The hotel is a beautiful little quiet oasis with a very friendly and helpful staff who made our stay so easy and comfortable. The area around is beautiful and for adventurous travelers it is the perfect place to stay as the hotel helps arrange all kinds of activities for you like a trip to bako national park or the orangutang nature reserve. It was perfect in December as the hotel was quiet and the weather was nice.

The food was good but it would have been nice to have some more options in between breakfast and dinner. There is not much around the hotel to go else where to eat without a car.

This place is very beautiful and peaceful. We stayed only one night but left hoping that we would have a chance to come stay again. The room was simple and elegant. Comfortable beds and great air-conditioning (even though it might be cool out, you have to sleep with the aircon and close the windows because the mosquitos will attack!). Meals were delicious but nice and homey. There are also communal areas with day beds, couches and hammocks by the pool (which we didn't use but it looked so tranquil and inviting). Had a nice relaxing time there after dinner and breakfast. It's also a drive away from the tourist centre with the bars, beach, and some stray cats who are most definitely well-cared for and absolutely adorable. Mount Santubong isn't far away as well for those who want a good outdoor hike. Overall a great place to relax and clear your mind. 😊

Bit far and secluded, but if you take a car or a Grab, it's easy to get to by car or Grab. The remoteness also adds to its beauty. Lack of signage outside, which made it harder to identify the place even with GPS. Also had to ask the staff to figure out the security gates. Mosquitoes especially after sunset. Bring mosquito repellent!!!

Quiet and not too many customers down a small secluded street in small village

Something a little off with the service .. doesn't seem anyone in charge the staff seemed over worked. Information is sent over WhatsApp it all felt very impersonal. Such as booking dinner and breakfast via a Google docs the place inst that big that staff cannot ask the guests on arrival. The dinner and breakfast is part of the deal is compulsory and is adequate I can't say more than that. I wouldn't recommend it or visit again.

The Village House is a bit out of the way (there is a shuttle bus) and very quiet. I really liked the peace and quiet. The complex with pool itself is very chic and beautiful. The dorm is very clean, with lockable cupboards, water for guests and a very clean bathroom. The 2 nights I was there I was alone. On the first evening I was soaking wet after a river trip. The next day, after a trip, they brought more clothes hangers into my room and hung my wet clothes on them - so kind! The staff is very friendly and attentive, the breakfast and dinner is very tasty. They also had vegan options for me. On the day I left very early there was even a packed lunch. I felt very comfortable and would choose it again.

So calm, beautiful area at rhe foot of the mountain and just in the village (there are 3 cafes and 2 v little shops for some basic bits). We did the wetlands cruise with John at the jetty in town and it was a must! 15.min walk or the staff will drive you. Also got a lift to damai beach where there are some more food places and shops and the cultural centre $20 entrance for that. Pool is great. You can borrow bikes to explore the area. Note the sea in this area is not for swimming as mangroves/crocs! Can go down the road to Damai easily enough...

Food was good but could do with some snacks at the bar and some variety to the menu ... maybe more local food! As it was delicious. Bed was sooo squeaky so don't recommend the rhaji room for wriggly people!

Service is good, staffs are quite friendly and polite. We stay in a twin room and bund bed, both room option are clean. Overall experience is not bad! The swimming pool is quite clean too.

Our only disappointment is the food part, hope the food part can be improved. We are provided with a google form on the choice of food for dinner and breakfast. Although we have chosen the food we want, but to disappointment that they tell us to change due to the selected food is not available, example one of the dessert and the main course. But last they still tried to accommodate my friend the selected main course with adjustment due to she is a vegetarian. As for the taste of the food, this place offer better taste in local food than western food, therefore we hope that they can improve their western food too!

the staff were very friendly and polite. the overall environment and deco made it feel like a little Bali Getaway - it has excellent view of sunset hour, even from within the property! the plus point - there were almost zero mosquitoes, which is always a problem for me. the food was pretty good too, they have an in-house chef.

despite the dried pandan leaves in the room, which were undoubtedly used as natural perfume (a nice touch, no complains), our room had a musky smell, like damp cloth. the mosquito netting over the bed looked like it could use a wash.
