an authentic experience of a night in the kitchen for with the luxury of soft sheets. The hospitality was very generous and sincere. The food delicious and the wildlife abundant.

Didn’t stay long enough.

we really enjoyed our stay here! Although you are never guaranteed, we saw many different kinds of animals and plants including two orangoutangs! You really are in the edge of the jungle. The beds and cabin was comfortable. The plunge pool (about 2 feet deep and 25 feet diameter) was a very relaxing place to cool off. The staff were very friendly. One of the guys there was looking for wildlife and would point it out to you-he is the one who spotted the two orangoutangs and came to our cabin to let us know they were close because he knew we really wanted to see them! The breakfast buffet was small but always delicious. This resort was a bit more expensive than we usually pay for a place in Southeast Asia, but it was absolutely worth it!

The food at the restaurant was delicious! But a bit overpriced.

Excellent location for visting the Orang Utans, Sun bears and Rainforest discovery centre. The restaurant area they had, was very good food and drinks, although a little bit pricey. It had quite a range of selections and also the kitchen is opened throughout the day so we could stop by anytime between our activities to get some food. Staff were all very nice and relaxed. They let us just lounge around the restaurant after checkout for a few hours waiting on our flight. One of the staff members guided us to a location where an orang utan was spotted right by our accomodation and let us use his binoculars. Amazing sight to see a mum and baby orang utan building a nest in the wild! Setting for the accomodation and facilities are all very picturesque.

Only very minor, Wifi is only available at the restaurant/lounge so if you don't have data then you will only have internet if you go there. Indoor shower which was the heated shower was also a bit tempremant in terms of getting warm water, but most of the time it was so hot outside that using the outdoor cold shower was fantastic!

Beautiful location, walking distance from the orangutan sanctuary and sun bear sanctuary (10min) and rainforest discovery centre (25 min). Really nice lodge with balcony view of the rain forest, we saw many birds, squirrels and bats from the balcony. Really helpful and friendly staff. I had lost my phone charger plug at the airport and they kindly lent me theirs for my entire stay, Thank you so much! Really friendly waiter, thanks for all the lovely stories Mi!

Food at the restaurant was very nice but westernised and more pricey than local places (their nasi lemak burger was amazing though and recipe was created in the restahrant with home made burger bun, plus their home made papaya jam at breakfast is amazing) . Air con broke in the room after the first night but it was fine since there was a fan.

Highly recommend Sepilok Forest Edge Resort for anyone looking to visit Sepilok. Following an easy Grab ride from Sandakan Airport (only costing 16 RM), we were warmly welcomed by staff who were always eager to assist guests. The resort is a quick and easy walk to all of Sepilok’s main attractions, including the Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Centre, Bornean Sunbear Conservation Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre. The room / bungalow we stayed in (Selingan) was spacious, clean and offered all the amenities we required, including air conditioning! They even provided complimentary umbrellas to use during your stay which were much appreciated during the daily Bornean tropical rainstorms. Tap water is not drinkable, however a large water bottle was provided, with free refills offered at the cafe. Food at The Nest Café was well priced, and delicious. Highly recommend the Sepilok Lamb Curry, Chicken Pineapple Curry, and the stir fried fern leaf!

The inside shower water was lukewarm at best, despite leaving the water heater switch on for a significant amount of time, but that didn’t bother us too much as it’s warm enough in Sepilok as is. Note - it can be difficult to get a Grab out of the resort, especially for short distances, however the receptionists were more than happy to arrange taxis if need be.

The location and friendly staff. Within walking distance of several wildlife centres (bear, orangutan and rain forest). Other trips can be arranged by the staff. It’s not a 5 star city hotel city accommodation, but considering it’s on the edge of a rainforest, it’s dry, clean and relatively bug free. I think the owners have done an excellent job creating this facility. The staff are keen to help and their attitude goes a long way. At times you get very close to nature and wildlife of the forest, that’s a positive.

It’s easy to find minor niggles, but considering the big picture - None

The location is plain awesome at the border of the forest. Actually there are a couple of trails you can follow just at the edge. If lucky you may spot some wild animals The staff is also very friendly, my kudos go to the restaurant people for their kindness and the meals, fantastic!

I was in the dorm for the night. The logistics there could be improved, not enough toilets/showers IMO (only one for men and one for women). In the morning there are some queues waiting for relevant stuff. Notice: no A/C in the dorms, only fans. (Not a negative point for me, but maybe for anyone else)

The Sepilok Forest Edge Resort is definitely one of the best hotels where we stayed during our two-week Borneo trip. Its location right at the entrance to the Orangutan Rehabilitation Center is unbeatable. The hotel grounds themselves are spacious and the bungalows are not clustered together, making it wonderfully quiet. We stayed in one at the very back with a view into the jungle. We have never seen so many different monkeys strolling by as we did there. Simply incredible to be surrounded by nature like that. The rooms themselves are large, very clean and the bed is super comfortable. The partially outdoor bathroom is spacious enough and equipped with everything you need. The entire resort is extremely peaceful and calming. The restaurant serves many Western dishes, including plenty of vegetarian options, which we appreciated as it can be difficult to find a wider selection of vegetarian food in this part of the world. We would have loved to stay longer.

The swimming pool was rather small and we didn't end up using it. The staff at the restaurant could be a bit more attentive.

We were quite skeptical when booking this hotel due to other reviews but man, we’re glad we did. From the beginning, the reception staff was so warm and kind. When checking in they showed us that there is a bat residing at our cottage and kindly asked us not to bother it which was great as in the middle of the jungle you are the guest. Then we headed to the restaurant where you are asked to leave your shoes outside which is giving the area a cozy and familiar vibe. Once in the restaurant, you are on a wooden deck surrounded by jungle, trees with birds & squirrels, frangipani trees and a scenic view and an even better feeling to be in such an amazing place. The food was the best I had in 2 weeks - a base of asian with touches of european, just perfect. The room was what I feared most as accomodations in the jungle is usually filled with bugs. But we had absolutely no problem - maybe a few ants in the bath but that’s it. We had mosquito spray in the room - sprayed the room before dinner just as a prevention and it was perfect. Bedsheets, bathroom, all clean. And the view from the balcony - priceless. Our cottage was not the newest but they are actively working on the construction so the place is just going to get better and better. Also, 800 m from the urangutan and sun bears centers - a lovely 10 minutes walk. We highly reccommend.

Breakfast was a buffet and quite good and adequate particularly since once of us does eat eggs. Dinners/lunches were quite delicious and a nice variety. The bar was fairly well stocked - no top shelf on drinks like Scotch/Whiskey. Loved the bar tender/manager in the later hours - she was so accommodating and even packed cold breakfast for us one day. The tent was HUGE with 2 bedrooms and a spacious sitting area. Very well decorated. It was in a very private location. It had a fire pit and the staff lit a nice fire every night. A very nice touch. Very large, attractive decks with lots of seating and tables. We cannot say enough about the fabulous staff. The front office people helped coordinate our already booked tours. One of us was in a wheelchair and everyone pitched in to help with that particularly over stairs.

We understand that the glamping unit is a work in progress. As of now, it is beautiful and spacious, but needs some improvements: - In the shower, no matter how many buttons we pushed or knobs we turned, we could not get hot water. I passed on showers during our stay. - Needs a cady for shampoo and soap in the shower. - Desperately needs handrails on all stair locations - people with disabilities or stability issues, please note. - Light in one bedroom kept coming on during the night - is it a motion detector switch? - The ladder in the plunge pool should have steps. The rungs are hard on bare feet. We had to go to the restaurant to use the WiFi. Otherwise, we used our phones, which got us through.
