We stayed at The Lodge in Bormla for the feast of the Immaculate Conception on the 8th December. The Lodge has been faithfully restored to reflect its historic heritage dating back to the time of the Knights of St. John while having all the modern facilities added to it. It is in a prime central location. The owner, Dorian, made us most welcome and gave us a fascinating tour of his historic property. The staff were all so friendly, especially Natalie, who went out of her way to customise our breakfast and chat with us in the morning. What a lovely place, we will definitely be back.

The location and atmosphere were exceptional, and the premises were beautiful and cosy at the same time. However, the best thing was definitely the most kind and friendly staff. They make you feel very welcome.

The scent of incense was quite piercing everywhere at the hotel, which might disturb people suffering from migraine.

Beautiful historic property. Each room individually styled giving a choice of accommodation & budget. Fantastic location convenient for all 3 cities and ferry to Valetta. Several restaurants & bars within just a few minutes walk. Staff were friendly & professional with excellent local knowledge and happy to share recommendations. October is a good time to visit. Blue skies & temperatures in mid to high 20s.

This was one of the best hotels ever! Located in charming and beautiful old palace (from the age of the Knights). Rooms are very nice decorated, impeccably clean and comfortable. We got room upgrade for free, so kind! Breakfast was excellent, opulent and you can choose a lot of different options. All staff members were so nice and friendly that we felt very welcome. Location was perfect, a few minutes from bus station and quick ferry for Valletta (ferry ride is great experience - enjoy the views!). And the older city is even more beautiful, calmer and less touristic than Valletta, you should definitely explore Three cities.

It’s a historic building and is a very cool experience. The owner is very kind and helpful. He offered to let me stay longer since they didn’t have a guest in my room the day I checked out and my flight was at night. The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the ferry to Valletta which is so convenient. I’m so glad I chose to stay in Cospicua (near Birgu) instead of Valletta. It’s nicer, quieter and more authentic and you can go to Valletta whenever you choose as the ferry ride is just 10 minutes (2 €) and it’s every 30 minutes or so.

Staff excellent and helpful eg helped me arrange local tours in Three Cities and Valletta. Which were small and suited to my requirements. Close to port which was nice Would return again

Comfortable bed, historic building, proximity to the ferry to the old town.

The same limited offering of choice for breakfast becomes monotonous if staying for a week. And it's a shame that, with all the great bread on offer in Malta, the hotel offers sliced white and rolls, which taste as if they are from a packet.

This was the most beautiful hotel I have ever seen! The decor is modern and super comfortable but totally compliments the history of the building. Loads of charming traditional touches throughout and lots of local information to hand. It was easy to find. There is loads of free parking available on the street. Perfect location, a stones throw away from the stunning harbour, local to historical attractions and ample restaurants and cafes. Easy access to bus routes into Valletta (€2 each without a travel card). The continental breakfast was tasty and served in the most charming little courtyard. The staff were super friendly and attentive, kind and always available when needed. Even left us a surprise food tray in our room for our last day as we were going to miss breakfast due to our flight times. It was all the little touches and going that extra mile that made this gorgeous place feel truly magical. We are already looking at dates to return next year!

Leaving

I loved the ambience very much! Away from the crowds and tourist hotspots, it was quiet and homely here. The breakfast was individually arranged and freshly prepared every morning. The hostess, with her cheerful nature, always made the morning a wonderful start to the day. The hotel is not far from the ferry to Valetta and it is also only a stone's throw to the bus stops, so that you can easily get to more distant cities and sights without a car. All in all, my stay was a wonderful experience and I can recommend this hotel to everyone. If I come back at any other time of year, this would definitely be my accommondation of choice! We stayed for 5 days. Location is perfect, safe, historical, few minutes from the ferry stop to Valletta - we used it every day (it is wonderful experience, quick and cheap). Room is lovely (we had the room with high clean stone walls and yellow decorations) - I fell in love with it on the photo and it was the same in reality - beautiful. Staff is really nice, friendly and helpful. Dorian booked airport transfer for us, all smooth and seamless. Room and whole hotel was always perfectly clean. Continental breakfast are nice, service even more (we were not used to continental breakfast :)) The last day of our stay was rainy, we could stay longer than usual check-out time, it really helped us.

Nothing really. Hotel, staff, location - all is wonderful. Count with a smaller bathroom - but it is just a small incovenience for such a wonderful experience of living in the castle :)
