We absolutely loved the location of it. 5 min walk from red light district and 7 min walk from central station. Super close to everything shopping wise and good options for nightlife.

The property is not made for anyone in bad health conditions, has a disability, or an injury. We were placed on the 3rd floor which to get there you had to climb 3 flights of steep and skinny stairs up and down with no option of elevator. I know this is how most buildings there are so we did not have an issue! Also there was a huge hole in the bathroom door, and a horrid smell of fish on the first floor.

Location was perfect, just in front of Damrak canal. The views from the room were astonishing! Room was very small but it's fine if you only want to sleep there. They put on the room a fan (really appreciate it) which was very useful for hot nights. Bed was small as well, but I did not find them uncomfortable. They are OK to sleep.

I didn't like to go up 4 floors without a lift. But I understand we are in Amsterdam and it is very difficult to find a lift right in the city center.

Funky! Climb up narrow stairs to small room perched high above crowds, but far enough back from street to be quiet. Right near center of action directly across from and south of the train station. Memorable authentic old Amsterdam narrow canal-house experience.

They couldn't make it any better without ruining the authenticity of the experience. Not at all luxurious, our room was a fun fifth-floor walk-up using narrow staircase squeezed along one side of the building. Did I mention narrow? In the street photo attached, it is the light gray building in the center of the photo--yes, the narrow one. Small room, atop a long climb--may not be to everyone's liking. The rooftops photo is the view out the 5th-floor window.

Meeting good people in the hostel such as Adam Hamed, Alexei and Azim along with the spanish guys and colombian couples in the other room but unfortunately they left early. The WiFi Internet was good as it was fast. The toilet and bathroom were absolutely squeaky clean sanitized hygienic and the room was spotless. Fortunately there was a fan to cool things down. And soundproof so we couldn't hear much from outside the busy streets.

Unfortunately I was chosen the top bunk bed which at times was hard to reach especially when I needed to take a leek in the toilet it was kinda difficult getting up the ladder as I nearly slipped in pitch dark black room. Sadly there was no tv entertainment so all we had was WiFi Internet but that's not too bad.

The hotel has a great location - 5 minutes walking distance from the Central Station, 6 minutes from the Dam Square. The staff was very nice and friendly. The hotel offers to keep your luggage even before /after check in/out.

The bathroom is too small and needs to be cleaned better. In the room there is only one towel per person (no face towel). If you have a big suitcase you will struggle with the very narrow and steep staircase.

Location is great. Less than 5 minute walk from Central Train Station. Restaurants nearby.

We complained about the stairs going up every time haha but it's part of the fun of experiencing new things. So wasn't a big deal. Pack light though. Overall, nice hotel.

Rooms were pretty nice (and, surprisingly, cleaned every day!). Location was superb - walking distance to any major tourist site was max 30 mins; central station was 5 mins away, too! Great location for nightlife (mainly, bars, though), and shopping - a lot of common and upscale shopping spots in the vicinity.

Noise cancellation is not that great in the rooms, so sometimes you could hear other people, but it wasn't that bad. Rooms don't have AC, only a fan, so during Summer it might get too hot during the night.

This property is located right in the centre of Amsterdam, it’s only a few minutes walk from the train station which is around 17 mins to airport. Everything is located around this hotel. I would definitely stay again here again, I’m looking to returning to Amsterdam in the summer and will be booking this place. Was cheap and cheerful and the restaurant right next door does a lovely breakfast, lunch and evening menu. The cleaners cleaned and changed our bedding too. The staff helped with the suitcases in the morning which was helpful and we could leave our luggage in the locked luggage room until we needed it again. Honestly thank you so much for our stay.

The stairs are very steep which can be difficult with the luggage such as suitcases but if you ask staff politely they will help you. The hotel isn’t posh so don’t expect anything on that side but it’s cheap, cheerful, quiet, clean and basic. Again, I will return.

The location is superb and we (two adults and a child) were lucky to get the only room that has a balcony overlooking the Dam. Apart from an old sock under the bed, everything seemed very clean, with pristine white bedding. Other reviewers mentioned smells - we didn't experience anything like that. Staff were friendly and stored our bags for us on the last day. I'd definitely stay here again if I could get this room. No idea what the side- and back-facing rooms are like. Ours had big windows with great views, in addition to the balcony.

One dusty sock under a bed.

The location is the best, very close to the train station and close to amsterdam city center. This hotel is perfect if you are traveling with a group of friends or alone.Maybe not the most family-friendly but the best hotel among the place. Very good price and clean enough. Thank you Dam Hotel!

The bed sheets had a bit of stains but not a big deal. Other than that, all gucci.
