The room was more spacious than we expected in such a busy part of Amsterdam. It was clean and very comfortable. The hosts were so kind and helpful. We arrived before the check-in time but were able to leave our luggage, and the host even took it up to our room for us.

As mentioned in other reviews, it was a bit noisy outside. I do think that is to be expected in such a vibrant part of town. It was not a problem for us, and there were earplugs provided as well.

Modern, comfortable, clean, warm.

Stairs to rooms 9 & 10 are incredibly steep (warming for elderly, pregnant or mobility impaired). A few easy fixes to be done: - Safe was already locked when we arrived (please ensure this is left open for future guests). - Bedside lamps were flat (need charging). - Water leakage on the ceiling between the 9th & 10th rooms. - The Café to collect the free breakfast doesn’t open until 9am (10am on Sundays), so we couldn’t collect ours before we checked out on the last day (perhaps providing an alternative breakfast pick up option to suit those leaving earlier than 9/10am).

Everything from check-in to check-out went amazingly! All hotel calisto staff we encountered were super friendly, helpful and highly responsive. We were able to leave our luggage prior to check-in and even after check-out for a few hours. The room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed. All essential amenities were available for a comfortable stay even including delicious teas and coffee with aesthetic cups. They were also very sweet to include coupons to try their cafe across the road, Good Beans, with a complimentary coffee and pastry (they were delicious). Next time would love to try their restaurant downstairs too, looked bustling and delicious. Overall, a great place to stay short-term with great location, walking distance to the main city and train station.

Nothing negative! To note is that if you are allocated rooms 9 or 10, they are on the third floor which requires one flight of very very steep stairs. This is something to consider if you have mobility issues or travelling with older people. However, the hotel calisto staff were super understanding and helped up carry our luggage up and down from our room during check-in and check-out (which was a lifesaver considering we had a 23kg bag too).

The location was great really bustling vibrant area a short 10-15 minute walk from centraal station with great restaurants, cool cafes, independent shops, and the staff were all lovely and friendly, it had a really good vibe about it, simple modern decor with lovely bathroom and all the beauty of an historical Amsterdam townhouse. The restaurant below is a must while visiting, as is the coffee shop opposite where you get a free coffee/pastry with your stay as your breakfast, you can also easily walk to all the sights / museums across the city within 45 mins.

Unfortunately our room was right above the (really delicious) restaurant just one floor up from street level, and with only single glazing, and not quite fitting thin curtains we heard everything going on, earplugs were provided but this isn't the hotel or room if you want a quiet night sleep - at a weekend anyway, its a bustling all hours neighbourhood which is fab but the noise was an issue, maybe other rooms are quieter so worth asking as everything else was great!

Great location in the Jordaan within easy walking distance to the train station and Prinsengracht. The street is very quiet at night. The hotel entrance door and room door are opened via an app, the details are sent out in an email on the day. The restaurant staff kept an eye out for my arrival and helped me out. The nearby shops are lovely and there was an organic grocery store just along the street. The shower was hot, the toiletries were top notch, the room was nice and warm, full of light, great WiFi, and best of all there was a Smeg kettle. There isn’t a lift, and the stairs were narrow and steep, a characteristic of Dutch houses.

All great!

Very nice warm clean compact yet airy room nicely (recently) refitted, large comfortable bed. Convenient location. The staff on site downstairs friendly and helpful (though getting hold of them not always easy/obvious or predictable).

Only minor niggles - overall very positive and would go back. A problem with the shower drain meant the ensuite area flooded rather quickly… Some contradictory guest info regarding baggage, entry instructions etc. though the new management are probably working on this gradually. Trying to find a human on site / downstairs somewhat tricky and unreliable.

My unit was perfect for a solo traveler like me. I booked this for 2 nights and it was lovely. The location is great, right near shops and a pretty close walk to the train station (which goes to and from the airport and other places) I also ate at the restaurant owned by the hotel downstairs and the food was great. I’d recommend this place to anyone staying in Amsterdam. The staff was lovely and let me check in early when my flight arrived early. Room was clean and very cute. I hope to be back.

Nothing really, stairs are steep so just be careful. I also didn’t know there was no front desk so make sure to plan ahead with the property or check in online. They were very prompt to get me situated when I had said I was at the hotel.

Perfect location, walking distance into town. The restaurant underneath the hotel was gorgeous, had delicious food and natural wine. We landed late and had no where to eat but the restaurant kindly allowed us to eat (even though it was past service time!) and it was an outstanding meal and service. Hotel room was cosy, big enough for a few days. Lovely shower products, alongside a partnership with a supplement company that had sleep and detox tablets which was quite cool. They also had a partnership with a coffee shop across the road and it was delicious coffee and very friendly staff.

Could have done with some more storage for clothes or luggage - but it was great for short stay

Great location and cosy hotel! You can walk (or bike) almost everywhere! The staff of the restaurant is really helpfull and they will give you tips if you need any guidance around. Check-in was also really easy. Our room was pretty big and the bed was nice and soft. The hotel is also super clean! Although we slept in a room at the front of the hotel, the room was really quiet. What we liked the most about our stay was the restaurant downstairs. Great pasta and amazing wines. The staff is so friendly as well.

Staying at Calisto was such a relaxing experience. The room was incredibly spacious and had everything I needed for my stay in Amsterdam. The whole vibe of the restaurant & building itself is gorgeous. The staff downstairs are so welcoming & made sure that I was comfortable and had everything I needed! The best thing about my stay was 100% the quality of the bed & pillows. When you stay at the hotel you really feel that they have prioritised your experience to be the best it can be. Leaving some vitamins to help you sleep & feel energised, some tea - it was perfect.

Calisto can be described as the perfect Amsterdam experience. The design of the space captures the culture perfectly. I would definitely recommend my family & friends to stay here when visiting the city. You need to be able to climb the steep stairs, so please consider not bringing too heavy bags. Also, the rooms are relatively small. Personally, I like this, as you often see in boutique hotels in Paris. But I can imagine that this may not be suitable for everyone.
