I liked- no, I loved everything. The ground level, a place to chill. Open workspace, a breakfast/snack/bar, comfy couches, modern industrial deco with a lot of color… The room- big bay windows on two sides, clever design for use of the space (18m2), supremely comfortable bed, mechanical blinds, great shower pressure. Clean, bright, quiet, and dog-friendly! The Canvas bar/restaurant lounge on the 7th floor- colorful ambiance with friendly staff, an outdoor terrace, and big bay windows. Great tapas (bitter ballen, sweet potato fries, drumsticks…) everyone in there is happy and smiling ear to ear. The Bad Plaats- on the 8th floor for guests: free sauna and two barrel jacuzzi’s with a panoramic view of Amsterdam! Safety- yes. 100% Quality vs affordability- yes. 100% Transportation?- right outside! Metro Wibautstraat, lines 51,52,53 Will we always come to Volkshotel when we come to Amsterdam? Dam’ right we will!!!!! P.S. loved all the funny signs all around, Volkshotel has a great sense of humor!

It is a very unique establishment. It was obvious that a lot of creativity and effort went into it's creation. I liked the decor of the first floor lounge and roof deck. I went for the breakfast buffet each day, which I thought was a good deal considering how much you can eat. I like to eat enough for breakfast so I can skip lunch when traveling.

I have never stayed in such a tiny room before. It was one of their "cabins" with shared bathroom facilities. I wanted to try it so I could see how well I tolerate it. I am a little claustrophobic. I was still adjusting to the time difference, which always makes sleep difficult. You can hear others coming and going outside the door. But when they are in the rooms, you don't hear them. I have to admit that the soundproofing is quite good.

Beautiful Hotel in a brilliant location. Metro on the doorstep with Dam Square being 5mins away. The location was just perfect for us as family with young children. Very friendly staff on reception to helping with luggage to giving attractions ideas to make our holiday more memorable. Thank you 😊 The cafe/bar was a lovey area to sit and chill on an evening have a chat with staff who were very friendly. Thank for the celebrations for my son Birthday he was overwhelmed it made his day ☺️ The hot tub/extras on the rooftop that was lovely bonus to have and enjoy relaxed evening. I only noticed the restaurant on the top floor on our last day, it was beautiful setting I wish I had seen it earlier. Overall beautiful stay I loved the vibes of the hotel specially the family rooms with the spacious bunk beds that was bonus. I will definitely book again when am back to visit the Netherlands.

Everything was perfect. It made our holiday more enjoyable.

The hot tubs and sauna on the roof was a great bonus and my kids love it. The kitchen in the studio even though small was modern with high-end appliances and really useful. The closeness to the metro was quite helpful - we used the GVB Group Day pass for 25 euros every day - since there were 5 of us it was a great deal. Found you could swim on the Amstel river in an area just south of the hotel which was fun! The good sized Albert Heijn grocery store just a few minutes from the hotel was also very convenient.

The style took a bit getting used to - but was just different, not bad. The loft is a bit exposed and the shower door being totally transparent was awkward.

Great location, fun styling of the room,

Lighting was a bit too low, also the roof made very loud noises when it was raining and it kept waking me up, and some neighbours had very loud music so we could hear everything and couldn’t sleep properly, also I lost my headphones :/

Great location near the station, restaurants and supermarket in easy walking distance. Awesome restaurant upstairs, hot tubs were an absolute win. I loved the sustainable initiatives - big dispenser of shampoo and body wash, and a sign encouraging guests to drink the tap water.

The super-vibey restaurant upstairs was super noisy on the Saturday night. Even with earplugs I struggled. Lifts are very slow, and it was a bit weird coming down from the hot tub with wet hair and a towel, sharing with people who were dressed and prepped for partying all night. I would still 100% go back though.

The location is wonderful, so close to the city centre. The hostel is very hip with lots of activities for 20 somethings, staff is friendly but sometimes a bit aloof. Think that has to do with it also being a social hub for local residents; it’s not always clear to staff who is a hotel guest and who isn’t. The lobby/cafe and workspaces are wonderful and vibrant. We didn’t eat at the restaurant this time, but we used to live locally and liked the food on other occasions. The rooms are interesting and the studio is wonderful, it is equipped with everything you could need and very practical if you want to cook your own meals

It’s a little intimidating to walk in, there’s so much going on. Staff may seem a bit aloof as a result of the hip vibe and as a hotel guest you can feel a little bit invisible.

Location-Entrance to metro to central station was door of hotel. Great for travelling. No need for expensive Ubers at all. Hotel was also beside a great supermarket for getting snacks or drinks for room or toiletries. Hotel Spa- Hotel had small spa on the roof with great views of the city. Opened late as well. Was a treat to come back after long day of exploring to go hot tub and sauna. Staff- Staff were super from booking to departure. Kept our bags safe on check out. Rooms were also ready very early. Amenities- Great bar on the 7th floor for dinner and drinks and a night club in the basement meant not having to leave hotel in evenings which was great.

Would love to have had slippers or robe in room for going to the hot tub. Lot of guests walked around the hotel in wet bare feet and better hair dryers in the room.

I thought the location was good and not too far away from the centre of town and whilst my room was small the view was spectacular. On every interaction with your staff it was very good.

The breakfast was described to me as being a very large selection of local dishes however I only saw scrambled eggs, bacon and some small Dutch pancakes My daughter who stayed with you during Covid is The person who told me about your wonderful breakfast, but clearly your menu has changed Also, I found the room a little cramped and would’ve really appreciated if the bed had been made before I got there. Apparently though a rolled up blanket doona at the bottom of the bed is a Dutch thing not something I’m used to.

Great location, great vibe to the place throughout.

The size of our room/cabin. I did book knowing it was going to be small. But shocked by it actual size. There was no room for our luggage, my daughter had her bags on the floor space & l had mine at the end of the bed, which meant l had to sleep with my feet up on it, so there was room to open the door enough to get through. It is difficult to get in out of our luggage when needed things. Didn't help as l get Claustrophobia, so I had mixed feelings on my stay. As we travelled all through Europe & had a backpack each also small backpack & we was there for 2 nights. Would be perfect if travelling light & maybe a night & don't suffer Claustrophobia.
