A wonderful and welcoming place to stay. The room was beautiful, as was the rest of the house and garden. The bed was comfortable, breakfast was great and plentiful. We stayed for 3 nights in a Deluxe double room with balcony and it was so lovely. The hostess was welcoming, attentive and very kind. We would love to come back for another stay. Some practical info for people who is thinking about making a reservation; Getting to Amsterdam City Center was easy as pie; a 2-3-minute walk to the bus stop and then a 15-minute bus ride to Amsterdam Centraal Station. There was a free public parking lot a minute from the hotel so If you’re driving – no problem. There was also an Electric vehicle charging station on the parking lot. We could not have been happier with our stay!

Wonderful building, cozy rooms and very friendly staff. Very delicious vegan-friendly breakfast with products from the region. Perfect location outside of loud and overcrowded tourist areas but near a bus station, which can be used to commute to Amsterdam Central fast and cheap. Even late in the evenings and early in the mornings. Also, there are plenty of free parking opportunities. All in all, it was a pleasure. A perfect romantic getaway for a weekend in Amsterdam with your partner

-The area (Monnickendam) was so quit and relaxing area with many local restaurants . -The place was magical and soo clean and well decorated and equipped. - the owner was extremely helpful to make our stay great as everything else - the room was super clean and cosy . - there is a nice small garden -the owner Babette was extremely kind and generous with a great welcoming and preparing a delicious breakfast from the local shops it was a really nice experience exploring the cheese plater details everyday - plenty of free parking near the hotel . - there is a supermarket and local bakery and shops around 5 min by car. - so close to many nice area like Volendam, Edam, Marken. and there is a lovely area full of restaurants and cafes and shops it was almost 18 min by car in area called Purmerend. - also close to Amsterdam only 15 min by car.

Beautiful building and comfortable room, nice location, convenient parking nearby and very nice breakfast offered in a beautiful setting and friendly and very helpful service with a smile every day.

We had some smell in the bathroom coming from possibly a clogged drain, which caused some inconvenience and windows were not so easy to open, but they did their best to resolve it and at least there was air conditioning in the room. Bed was a little firm for my liking as side sleeper but my wife didn't mind at all!

Outstanding location - a very short and cheap bus ride from Amsterdam gets you to a romantic small town with excellent views, quality restaurants which are not overcrowded by tourists. Stay at Fortuna Spinoza as a highlight of our trip. It is better than on the pictures, its VERY clean, from our room we had a magic view to the garden. Breakfast was excellent with a big attention to detail and local products. Edam town is nearby too. Prerfect value for spending time in Amsterdam but still experience a romantic atmosphere of small town.

We received a very warm welcome from the host. The house was so cozy, we felt right at home. Relaxing atmosphere and delicious breakfast in the morning.

Gorgeous house with great design, every corner brings proof of extraordinary attention to detail, quality and great care. The rooms are beautifully appointed, the house is wonderful through and through as is the garden. Add to that the warmth of Raisa, who is extremely welcoming and also makes an extraordinary breakfast, the friendliness of Babette and the results can only be an amazing stay! We had a beautiful birthday weekend here and the town and surrounding area are very beautiful and picturesque.

The rooms couldn’t be more beautiful. We stayed in the room with a balcony and the room and bathroom (along with the house in its entirety) is stunning. All kept very clean as well. The host was lovely, and presents a lovely breakfast every morning of breads, cheeses, yoghurt, fruits and plenty of extra bits as needed. The town of Monnickendam is also gorgeous and very tranquil. If I could recommend everyone stay here instead of the centre of Amsterdam I would! 15 minute bus ride into Amsterdam max. and the buses come very regularly. A truly 10/10 experience. Thank you for the wonderful stay.

Everything was amazing. We woke up to soaring cielings with a wooden chandelier overhead and then opened the curtains to then step out onto the upper level balcony for a morning coffee. The room itself, including the bathroom, was a work of art. From there, as we decended the curved staircase lined by portaits, you could already smell the fresh bread being baked. Babette was kind, warm, and welcoming, offering us mango hummus from the local market and rhubarb jam. She was willing to answer any questions and had many inisghtful tips for the area. The dining room was decorated in a superb way. Later in the afternoon, after taking a stroll in the old town and having a coffee ice cream, we say on the back garden lawn chairs and read while sitting in the sun. I cannot begin to express how much attention to detail there was. From the individually picked anitque pieces, to the little touches such as wonderful scented room difusers, it was all done with great execution. Definitely would go back again for a peaceful weekend away!

Beautiful old mansion in a small Dutch town - felt very luxurious and comfortable too. Before we arrived, Babette sent some fantastic recommendations for things to do and places to eat. Lovely host that really made sure we enjoyed our stay. Fortuna Spinoza was one of the best places we stayed on our vacation. We had high expectations after reading other reviews and our expectations were exceeded.
