We recently had the pleasure of spending three nights at the High Peaks Hotel, and I must say, it was an incredible experience! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that made us feel right at home. Lucy, the manager, truly went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. Her attention to detail and genuine care for her guests was evident in every interaction. She was always available to answer our questions, provide recommendations for local attractions, and make us feel welcome. Lucy's friendly demeanor and professionalism made our stay even more enjoyable. The hotel itself was fantastic, with comfortable rooms and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The amenities were top-notch, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Overall, our stay at the High Peaks Hotel was nothing short of amazing. Huge shout out to the Receptionist Lucy who could not have been more helpful. It was wonderfully quiet. My only issue was I was on public transport & there isn’t any in Fox town so it was quite a walk with suitcase - but on the way to very beautiful Lake Matheson, not to be missed! The eco-tour of the glacier area on foot was excellent too and had pick up from the hotel👍🏻

The location on foot was challenging. There’s no microwave, but there’s a fridge & coffee/tea making.

The property is located at a side street away from the main State Highway 6, so it is more quiet, yet only a few minutes from the cafes/restaurants, petrol station, and Glacier and Mt Cook flight company. The best thing is from the property you can get an excellent view of Mt Tasman and Mt Cook with their summits covered with snow, and it's close to Lake Matheson. Our room was very spacious for a couple and the staff was very friendly, and the rate for our room was reasonable even though the property is a bit old.

Nice spot a bit off the main township, which makes it really quiet. Nice views from the rooms, great beds, very kind staff, spotlessly clean.

The wifi is really bad, and there is only little chance to cater for yourself foodwise (very limited cutlery/plates available), we have been to other motels with small kitchenettes.

Room was very clean comfortable bed but no mattress ok for coffee/tea, no cutlery and very small cups for coffee, and very poor brand of coffee. Staff was lovely, location very good and very clean

Poor in regards to tea/coffee facilities, no toaster etc to have or make yourself a simple breakfast.

Our room was great - clean, large and spacious. The hotel (more correctly a motel) was clean and quiet. We liked the location - an amble to the main street and a short 4 min drive from Lake Matheson, which is stunning. The staff were very helpful and friendly!

I stayed at this hotel and it was really great! The hotel has all the necessary facilities, the room is spacious and bright, and it is very clean and tidy. The parking lot of the hotel is also spacious, which is convenient for parking. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and the service is also in place. If I have the opportunity to come here again for tourism, I will definitely choose to stay at this hotel again!

Friendly and helpful duty manager. Very comfortable bed.

Lack of some appliances - toaster, microwave oven, bedside tables. Poorly designed shower causes some flooding of the floor leading to musty smell in the bathroom.

The room was clean and the bed was comfy.

There was no toaster or microwave oven an also very little utensils and porcelain. Very basic. Outside looked untidy and well maintained, (uncut grass, weeds everywhere. Hotel sing leaning against the fence, falling off the pole. First impression wasn't very good.

reviews about this place are a bit hard. This place has a nice view and looks nice from the outside. The only critique that I feel like saying is that is really outdated inside. it’s not up to date with shower head, clock, bed sets, bathroom in general. If you update the rooms would be actually a great place to stay! I found the check in process very easy so not sure what people are going on about.

Room look very old
