It was a quaint little place which served our needs.

Your restaurant I’m afraid was not what we expected for something that was advertised as the place to be. We were there for a NYE dinner as a party of 9 the lovely young lady who served us was absolutely wonderful then I’m afraid that’s where it ended. The food that was served to us was at best a 2 star rating and considering our bill came to $600 you can imagine that that too added to the disappointment. Your chef and manager really should review the quality of your ingredients and the standard of the food that is served to its patrons and perhaps deliver what it promises.

The Beachfront Hotel is ideally located in Hokitika. There were plenty of shops and restaurants within a short walk from the hotel. Our room was quite small but absolutely fine for our one night stay. The view was to the front of the hotel onto the street, so nothing to write home about, but ok. We ate at the restaurant at the hotel and the meal was excellent. Definitely worth a try. The back of the hotel leads onto the beach. It's a lovely location with some excellent views. The town itself is a charming place with lots of arts and craft shops, and a good choice of cafes and coffee stops. The staff at the hotel were courteous and helpful and overall, we enjoyed a our short stay.

Was very central to everything. You couldn't ask for a better location to be in hokitika. Lots of parking available too.

We're quite intrigued by the story behind why guests can't borrow/use cutlery. However there is a lovely op shop across the road if you'd like some snacks and need to cut things up We had a room on the bottom floor by the walkway, so it was quite light and at times quite noisy. As people were coming down the stairs from rooms above us, they thudded down their suitcases, so it was a tad noisy. Potentially expected with the location (which you couldn't beat).

Amazing location. Just beautiful. Right on the beach . Lovely room with a balcony overlooking the Ocean. Clean, Comfortable, right in the middle of town with immediate access to an excellent supermarket ( stock up before travelling further.. the next decent store south is in Wanaka) and liquor store ( with an in house discount!). There are laundry facilities too. The staff were kind and hospitable. The food offering is also good. We ate with room service one evening ( to watch the sunset!) and it was prompt and tasted great. Recommended.

Location on the beach was very nice. The room was very clean be it small.

EXTREEMLY LOUD outside our room until all hours of the night. We had a hard time getting to sleep. (Our room faced the street so try and get one facing the parking or the beach. No elevator to the 2nd floor. When checking in I had to wait quite a long time as the gal was busy talking to her friend who was standing there. Not a problem if they take a break and you wait on the customer standing there. No appology when she finally waited on me and when I tried to ask about the area was not helpful.

1. Was upgraded to a twin bed room without extra charge. The room is big with a King & single bed. 2. The room is facing the beach. 3. The room is on the ground floor & able to park our car in front of our unit. 4. The toilet is spacious & clean. 5. In this city centre with easily accessible surrounding restaurants 4. Opposite the hotel is a supermarket New World. Super convenient to shop for groceries.

1. Prefer toiletries in individual packs / bottle instead of refills for personal hygiene. 2. The room does not have slippers. 3. Our room heating system was out of order on the first night. They provide a portable heater the next day to heat up the room. 4. Beds were soft for us.

The hotel itself is modern and well-located right on the beachfront and in the heart of the town. While we were put in a 'quiet' room, it was unfortunate that the wind and rain howled around the building all night and we didn't get a great night's sleep as a result. This is not the fault of the hotel, of course, and our room was bright and airy with high ceilings and a very comfortable bathroom with heated, tiled floor. The bed was large and comfortable and despite the persistent wind noise, we didn't hear anything from any other rooms. We didn't eat at the hotel or take advantage of their other services, although they do have a coin-operated laundry onsite.

There was an unseasonal gale rushing across the South Island during our stay, so we didn't get to see Hokitika at its best, then again I'm not sure we would visit it again even in the height of summer as there's not much to see or do.

we have always enjoyed staying at this beach front hotel and hope to return again in future we love the view from the oceanview rooms and enjoy the buffet breakfast

- this trip we were very disappointed with the evening meal in the restaurant, which certainly did not live up to expectations for the price we paid - overcooked chicken wing (not chicken breast as on menu) missing the bacon filling and the 'baby vegetables ended up being one sprig of broccoli, 2 slices of carrot and a piece of bokchoy cabbage? the 'baby' must have referred to the small potato - halved - also in our ocean view king room the underfloor bathroom heating was not working - one reason why we usually love these rooms

Room much smaller than I was expecting for a twin bed space - I was travelling with my brother not a partner - and for 2 it was a squeeze. The bathroom needs hooks to hang towels, clothes, toiletry bags etc. The cafe is not well set up for casual users - we just wanted a coffee and fruit and muesli and our only option was a full breakfast.

Excellent bed and bedding.

We had a 3 night stay and knew that we had a "city" view rather than a beach view which we were ok with. However our room was on ground level so looked straight out onto the footpath of the main street. We had to keep the window closed to keep the noise out. Also because we are travelling for a few weeks, we choose to have a light breakfast in our room. There was no toaster, bowls or cutlery to allow us to do this.
