Kitchen was usually very clean. Location was perfect, right on the beach. Beds were comfortable and plenty of bathrooms and showers.

The 8 bed dorm was not big enough. No space for any bags. The room had one window which didn't provide enough fresh air for 8 people unless wide open and then someone had to sleep right beside it so it was hard to keep open all night because it was so cold outside. The room was really stuffy and smelled awful as a result. Better ventilation and more consideration for bags would make this place a 10/10. Otherwise a perfect stay.

The location is perfect to explore Kaiteriteri. Food, playgrounds, beach etc are all very close. The room is basic as expected but we had enough space for 3. A fan was provided and this was needed throughout the night to keep cool. The shower is showing its age with paint failing but the pressure, size and temperature were good. Some more hooks to hang towels and swim wear would be useful for the number of people staying.

Update the shower. Add some more hooks to hang wet towels and clothes. Air-con would be a bonus or a wall mounted fan in place of the ground planted one. Would be great if Kaiteriteri could support a bike rental business for the nearby trails. The nearest one is Motueka but has limited opening hours over the weekend.

The location was great. Close to the beach and Abel Tasman National Park. The staff were very helpful and friendly and there was a lively restaurant next door.

The room we were given on arrival was too small. It had a super King sized bed with little other room for suitcases etc. It being Sunday and very busy, the staff were unable to give us a different room. However, they came up trumps the following day, moving us to a family room which was much more spacious.

As I travelled to Kaiteriteri in off season, I had the hostel almost all to myself. This being said, I was the only person staying in the dormitory. Kitchen well equipped. Restaurant/bar next door (try the oven-baked pizza!). General store with coffee shop a minutes walk away.

As much as I liked coming to Kaiteriteri in off season, it was a little cold in the room - heater did not do the trick. After taking another blanket from one of the vacant beds I was better. When checking in in the afternoon in off season, no one was around: the key was waiting for me in an envelope. That was fine, but if you need a towel, laundry detergent (yes, there is a guest laundry) you have to call them (even though the sign says "Only in emergency situations"). Someone from the next door bar can help.

Excellent location, very close to the beach and in the centre of town. Dinner restaurant on site, and places for breakfast just next door. Plenty of parking available nearby

It was a bit of a walk from the car to my room, so it took awhile to get everything in and then loaded again at the end. I think I only saw the reception manned once or twice, though there was plenty of information available.

No-nonsense lodging right outside Abel Tasman park. Appears to be great for families — our room had bunk beds. The attached restaurant, the Beached Whale had excellent fish and chips. :) The staff was friendly and down to earth.

The window shades seemed to be unoperable to get a fully dark room. No breakfast cafe, though there is a kitchen where you can cook your own breakfast foods.

Location was the best part and my room was good. I had the king bed room with bathroom and it met my requirements. Only would recommend putting in a chair and or table. And extra shelf for plates etc and one in the bathroom. Other than that it was great Also having the bar, laundry facilities and shared kitchen were extra bonuses. It’s perfect

Not much really it’s a good place I’m glad I was there when it was quieter 😂

Fantastic location, almost as close to the beach as you can get. We stayed in a family room with ensuite and it was very comfortable. The staff were friendly. Very handy having a restaurant on site. We will definitely be back we are already looking to book for next summer.

Parking is difficult, it's first in first served and parking is very limited. A minor cleanliness issue with the room which is easily sorted and I will contact the property directly about.

Our room was quite big, and the fridge was a decent size with a small freezer. The shared kitchen was huge, with plenty of plates and cutlery. The location was great, just a couple of minutes‘ walk from the beach.

It was extremely noisy at night from nearby restaurants. This, combined with the sweltering temperature in the room, made it very difficult to sleep. There seemed to be space in the room for a small table and chairs, which would have been very useful.

This hostel was better than I expected. It is not really a party place as some comments I have read suggested. I liked the kitchen and the outside area and that there was enough space in the room for everyone's luggage.

The luggage storage area is outside and is not very big. It would be better to use a room inside that can be locked.
