Clean, modern, spacious

We were abruptly advised upon arrival we would be liable for a $100 daily room servicing fee if we wanted our room serviced (beds made, towels changed, general clean, rubbish bin cleared). This was rather perplexing as we had already paid for the room and had booked the accommodation based on the knowledge we would have our room serviced as part of the standard room charge. This newly implemented additional charge was both shocking and disappointing. We went without a room service for our 5 day stay, making for a less than comfortable arrangement - no rubbish cleared, toilet paper shortages, and general cleaning that we were under the assumption would be provided as part of our standard room charge.

Impressed with this hotel: our room, staff, breakfasts, evening meals, underground parking (at$15pn). Breakfasts consisted of a good continental spread plus an individually prepared hot meal. I can't remember if the latter was included or whether I had prepaid. It did mean the breakfast was hot and not a possible lukewarm meal from a bain-marie. The hotel was just a little way from "town" (but not very far) and there was a Pac'n Save supermarket just over the road for nibbles and drinks. This was my second visit to Napier mainly to look at art deco commercial buildings (with Hastings also a must & possibly even a better example). I doubt there will be a 3rd visit (only because of age) but the hotel is now part of a Group and I would certainly consider those other hotels if they fall within my travel plans. Also by joining the free membership you get a good discount from meals etc.

A small whinge: the room includes a "half-couch" and not a proper lounge chair (or preferably two!). I think these half-couches are not comfortable and don't add an attractive look to the room. (I now find other "big name" hotels are using them which is a pity.) Perhaps they are used as a child bed? - I don't know. Perhaps the hotels are being conned by interior design "experts" who never actually try the end product? My wife thinks most rooms are designed by men and not their female partners!

Quite new with very large rooms packed with plenty of furniture and facilities. Everything in new trendy styles. TV plays YouTube videos. Windows kept out the worst of the sound from outside. Powerful air conditioner. Close to downtown and even closer to major shopping complex. Electronic room key gives access to elevators.

I didn't need to do anything too early in the morning during my stay, but, if I did, I would prefer breakfast begin at 6am rather than 7am. Please tell your employees not to enter the room while I am there without clear permission as it's a violation of privacy (only happened once).

Lovely big room with decent sized fridge, dining table and chairs, coffee machine and kettle. Staff supplied cutlery and crockery so we could eat in. Parking charge was reasonable and parking area was very secure. Short walk to town and supermarket. Friendly, helpful staff.

The safe wouldn't unlock, even after it was reset. Water spout over the bathroom sink only just reached the sink, so water went all over the counter when you tried to wash your hands, clean your teeth. The chaise lounges in the room were cute and quirky, but uncomfortable and impractical.

The room was clean and spacious. Everything was fairly new.

The pipes from neighbours were occasionally loud. The tap in the bathroom was a joke (barely lined up with sink). There was some function on the beside landline phone which meant a bright light shone out several times in the night. The curtained wall and pillar blocked window meant there was very restricted natural light.

The hotel was superbly clean and well-maintained, creating a fresh and welcoming atmosphere. The location was excellent, making it convenient to explore the area. Additionally, the car parking facilities were very accessible and added to the ease of our stay. The rooms were spacious, providing plenty of room to relax, with comfortable furnishings that made us feel right at home.

Nothing to dislike! Our experience was wonderful, and everything was up to standard.

The bed was super comfy and the shower was great! Breakfast was delicious each morning and there was plenty of street parking for free after 6pm each day but within walking distance to the beach and the town - Pak’nSave was right across the road

We stayed for 3 nights and unfortunately our sheets and towels were not changed in that time - not the end of the world but it’s one perk of hotels that I usually appreciate

Large & well appointed room, good firm bed, friendly staff & a nice modern bathroom. Location was fairly good too at just a short walk from the main centre of town and across the road from a supermarket for necessities.

I found the pillows awful - it was like trying to sleep on marshmallows. Latest checkout possible was 11am - although this is not unusual for hotels in Australia and NZ which are the worst countries for early checkouts at 10am - unlike most decent hotels in Europe and the US where normal checkout time is 12pm.

Awesome to be able to have the pooches as accommodation was very limited in Napier and over the top expensive. Great staff on check in.

I didn't know how to use the coffee machine in the room and as a coffee addict 2 capsules for two days stay not enough...2a day. Yes I could have brought it from the restaurant but it should be available in the room. FYI BLOOM instant coffee is absolutely GROSS...I brought my own.

Beautiful motel furnishings and functionality. Upkeep of the premises was obvious in their presentation of the surroundings.

It was a bonus to have breakfast included in our fare when booking online; however, once I learned it was $28 per person, I was glad we hadn’t paid that additional cost for three of us. I was a little underwhelmed with what was offered, and nothing was replenished during the 8:30–9:30am timeframe we were there.
