The motel is of an age, clean, comfortable and spacious. Walking distance to restaurants and bars.

We arrived before 2 pm as the weather prevented us from any activities. The stern hostess shook her head and said 2 o'clock, no further discussion. On return a silent hostess, cleared her desk, then looked up and waited for me to speak. After my friendly good afternoon and giving her my details, her only response was, if we wanted some milk in the room and internet. No further discussion. The notices in the room regarding cooking, smoking or spitting and extra charges for staying after checkout time per hour or even part of an hour!

This is a budget motel and dated. But, it is affordable, the managers are easy to deal with, it is close to town, easy to get to, roomy enough and well enough furnished. Furniture is old, but it is clean and presentable and carpet is new. Bedroom is at back of unit so quiet enough for sleeping even though the front of the unit is on the highway. I would recommend for anyone needing an affordable place for an extended stay.

It was good and as expected. Parking is tight and the entrance off the highway is tight, but once you get accustomed to it, it is fine. No complaints, given price is budget (for Timaru).

Blue Dolphin in very nice, being well equipped and central to Timaru, though on the main SH1 road that is noisy, though not in the night. It is well priced compared with many and has all the features needed including microwave, parking by your room and good WiFi. Timaru is a large busy town with parking issues. I recommend eating at the Ascot Sports bar on the north side of town where you have free parking and a pleasant meal without the stress of trying to park in town. There is a nice beach by the port. Look for the Port Loop Road. This has free parking and is accessible without going through town.

Everything! The place is so clean, cozy & the owner is very very helpful and friendly!

The dryer is not fully drying the clothes. I think you should put sound proofing wall in the laundry room or just put notice to not use the laundry room at night. I was scolded by the neighbour next to the laundry room for washing my clothes at night 🥲 I thought the laundry room is soundproofed. Anyway, overall, the motel is superb!

It's an older building but it's kept immaculate,the cleaning is A+++,the stainless steel like a mirror,towels fluffy,beds perfectly made and super cosy and the whole room was warm without using the heating.The double glazing really cuts out the road noise and the thick curtains means no light either,great kitchen set up with plenty of utensils and to top it off the owners were friendly and cheerful.

The kids whinged about the tv only having a few channels but personally I found the break from it was great and they had free wifi anyway.

Lots of space, everything was clean for an older style accomodation. Location was great for us, walking distance to the Bay, pools, bird avery and considering it was on a busy main road, I didn't really hear the road noise.

although advertised as 'sound proofing' we could hear the child/ren in the room next door up and down the stair at 6am, also a child crying in the night. Not the end of the world having kids myself but did mean my own children were woken to the sound of the child/ren next door.

The facilities were lovely and clean. The units are not modern but we were not bothered about that. They're well stocked, spacious compared to many. A nice size table and everything you need. Staff happy to supply fresh towels etc. Highly recommend as a great comfortable place to spend a few days.

I wasn't so pleased about the sharp nail tacks sticking up in the floor by the bathroom door. Was careful to avoid stepping there. That was all. The facilities are kept very clean.

Location & staff were amazing and very lovely , the beds were suuuuper comfterble I didn't want to get up in the morning also the rooms were very big 😂 ,

The walls are very thin , when the unit next door uses the toilet , plugs a phone charger into the wall or even talks you can hear everything , also the parking was very very tight on a busy night , but it was still a very lovely motel ,

The Main Bed was nice until your Body / weights got on it - Then it is a roll together - so lucky had a separate single in Lounge. We are not used to TRAFFIC - Trucks and more TRUCKS, I knew there would be some, but it is FAR worse than I was expecting. But most of the Motels in Timaru are on that Strip of Road.!!! We did have water tank refilling regularly when everyone start their toilet visits in early a.m. - can this be quietened a bit??

Our room was very clean, it had a nice smell to it. Beds were very comfortable and warm with the electric blanket on. Friendly staff. Gave us an extra carton of milk as there were 6 of us. Great location, nice and handy to shops. Excellent value.

It was a very cold night ( was -3 in the morning). Our heater that was on the wall wasn't that great and was very noisy. We did find another heater in the wardrobe to use but it kept blowing the fuse so we had to go back to the other heater. We stayed during a long weekend and the place was full which meant a lot of cars, was a bit awkward trying to get in and out of the car park. Only small issues but our only issue.
