The location next to the mountain was great for hiking lovers. The team was very helpful and the best part was the volunteers and the vibes the hostel had with everybody getting to know each other and traveling together:) The breakfast was great and rich with the selection ✨

it takes about 25 minutes to get to the center so take that into consideration if you're looking for something central. Bed linen isn't included in the price. Overall great vacation 😎

I loved the general feeling around the place: I virtually felt no barrier between me and the staff, after just 3 nights there they were almost friends to me. They organize many activities, the breakfast is included in the price and there's a nice common area, so it's an excellent place to socialize. The location has a wonderful view and it's just on the beginning of a scenic mountain trail.

The downside of the scenic position is that it's a bit far from the city center, but there are buses that run from early on until late, so it's just a matter of being orzanized with timings (and the reception will definitely help you out to figure it all out!, they're great!)

This is for sure a top class hostel. The location is great. The bed quality is great. We had toilet and shower in our room. Great and helpful staff. Free parking in a tribble for finding a fair parking city of Bergen.

The breakfast was just below average. No warm meals included! The variety was not good as well, and It was the same thing every day. The pillows were like nothing was inside them. However when I asked for another one to put them onto each other, they gave it to me. Since the hostel is most of the time fully booked during the summer, one kitchen is not enough (although it was a very big kitchen). All the cooking I needed was boiling the water, but I had problem with that during peak hours as well. Having toilet in a very small room like that can be bad also if your bed is in-front of the toilet!

All the facilities were in very good condition and kept very tidy and clean. It felt a good distance from the city and the mountains/hills around. The view from the hostel was also beautiful and probably the highlight of the place. The staff were also incredibly lovely and helpful. Would definitely stay there again and recommend the place to others as it's probably one of the nicest hostels I've stayed at.

The only minor negative was the cleaning of the rooms everyday. I appreciate the rooms being kept clean and tidy, though it makes it a little awkward if you're wanting to stay in the room for a bit.

Great atmosphere, it has a very good breakfast, the view of Bergen is awesome. Everybody was helpful and polite. Really liked the coffee and Cookies available in the afternoon, and the fact that there is a Kitchen available. It is possible to wasch and dry clothes. It’s outside of the City center, but with a good connection by Bus.

The ladder of the bunk bed it’s too little which makes it difficult to climb it. The curtains in the room are too small and they let the light through, with the Long days in the Summer it’s difficult to sleep with so much light, so this could be improved with darker, Blackout curtains in the room.

It's a nice hostel. The rooms are clean, cleaned every day. In the building there is a laundry room, kitchen, and the price includes breakfast. Friendly staff.

I lived in a room for 4 people, the room is very small for that many people. There is no closet for clothes. But what I didn't like the most was the shower, which is built into the wall, you can't remove it. This is a very stupid decision, because if you want to wash yourself lightly (women will understand what we are talking about), you will have to do it completely together with your head. It's very uncomfortable. The hostel is on the mountain, so if you are with suitcases, you will have to work hard or hire a cab.

Spotlessly clean, and comes with a breakfast. It's a bit further out from the city, but there's a bus stop nearby, the bus is regular and only 20 mins. The hostel is right by the start point to walk up Mount Ulriken. Free coffee and cookies every day that anyone can take part in.

You have to take bedsheets off yourself and put them in laundry bins. This means that anyone that needs to leave and check out early for flights etc has to disturb everyone else in the room taking off bedsheets. I was here for four nights, every single night was woken up at 5am by someone stripping their bed. Beds could do with a curtain for privacy.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast included in the price, despite a bit basic, was quite good and perfectly acceptable for something that didn't cost extra. The price for renting bed sheets was also very reasonable. A small thing I like is that the lock on the door takes a few seconds before locking when shut, making it harder to lock yourself out accidentally.

The wi-fi signal was very bad, but apart from that there isn't much negative to say that can't be chalked up to the hostel being classified as 2-star accommodations and its general price. The floors were very slightly uncomfortable, the breakfast was a little bit limited and the location isn't as central as I would have liked.

- The view over Bergen was just amazing - Standard HI (Hostelling International) hostel, having everything you would expect for a HI hostel - Good breakfast included in the price - I guess the cheapest accommodation in Bergen - Huge kitchen - Clean toilets and showers - Locker for each bed, as I stayed in the dorm. Bring your own padlock or rent one at the hostel

- Not in the city center, and bus no 12 does not go that often during weekends and at night. - I guess the key card to the room interefered with my mobile phone, so it behaved crazy. So if you keep the key card together with your mobile phone, remember to turn off the NFC on your mobile. - Bed linen and towels not included in the price - No privacy in the bed. Many hostels have curtains at the beds, but not here - Some of the staff members were not very helpful

The Bergen Hostel Montana was how I imagined the perfect hostel to be. I had such an unforgettable time there, all in all one of my best hostel experiences ever. Let’s start: When I arrived at the reception, I was greeted by a guy fluent in 7 languages. That was a nice welcome. The 4 bed dorm was nice and clean, maybe a little small. It had an integrated bathroom, but there were also some more common bathrooms and showers available. They offer a laundry room with two washing machines and two dryers (if I remember correctly). You have to pay 30 NOK for the use of one machine and get some detergent with that. You can leave luggage there before checkin and after checkout for free. I liked that breakfast was included, and there were also some vegan options (room for improvement). The kitchen area was well equipped with all you need and some fridges, maybe you even get your own shelf if you’re lucky. A cute supermarket was close by. The living room was cozy with piano, foosball, coffee bar, some sofas, and an awesome view over Bergen (spectacular sunset!). What I liked most is that this hostel is not too small and not too big, perfect size to mingle and meet new people from all over the world. It is located a bit off the city center (30 minutes by bus), so it’s closer to the Ulriken mountain and ideal for starting a hike. Maybe that’s why it’s attractive to people with an outdoor/nature mindset. For me personally it was a perfect match. Another big plus worth mentioning was the work of the volunteers. Every day they organized an activity, e. g. coffee & cookie, hikes to Ulriken and further, karaoke, foosball tournaments, … Thanks to Hanna, Lou and Alberto for this wonderful time!

There is not much to say here. If you’re not into hiking and nature, it could be a little annoying to drive 30 minutes to the city center with the bus. And you might regret not staying longer.
