The room was spotlessly clean, bed very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was great (I was in a first floor room). The TV was easy to navigate. The breakfast was amazing - varied and fresh. I loved that they offered my favourite loose leaf tea and little strainers. The hotel restaurant (for evening meal) was great too. The hotel was very well situated just a short walk from separate underground parking (not the hotel's). It was a short walk down to the harbour too where we booked a guided tour of the town and also went to the maritime museum. This is well worth a visit. It would be fun for children as there are plenty of interactive games there.

My room was too hot for me to have a really good night's sleep. I tried to adjust the air con, and asked for advice at the front desk, but still couldn't get it to cool down to sleep well. If I had been staying for longer than 2 nights I would have asked maintenance for help.

Breakfast was superb , great selection and gluten free and lactose free options also. Bar and seating at night cosy and romantic. Spa was lovely , not many seats so a tad awkward when many people are in the spa but great facilities! Room was perfect, clean, comfortable and TV that hooks up to your phone or laptop for streaming and music- great! Great location although a steep hill down to the main centre so if you struggle to walk maybe look at alternative transport options.

A very nice hotel in quite a quiet area of the town, about 3 to 5 minutes walk from the quay and town centre. The staff were efficient and most helpful in arranging a room change due to a problem with noise on the window from rainwater from a damaged outside gutter. I did not make any use of the spa facilities. Breakfast excellent.

There was only limited parking on site, so it was necessary to use a public parking garage some 2 to 3 hundred metres away. The bar and restaurant were not open on the Sunday of my stay.

Overall a very nice hotel with friendly staff. The room was OK for two persons, unfortunately no rainshower in the douche as I am used in other Scandic Hotels. The breakfast was very nice, a large variantion in food. The swimming pool and sauna were great, very lovely to relax after a day outside walking in the nature.

Some parts of the hotel are starting to become dirty and messy. For example, the hotel hosted an event, with a red carpet at the front entrance to welcome the guests. After the event the red carpet lay crumpled up next to the main entrance for two days. Similarly, empty cups which were left by guest at the side of the pool, were still not removed the next day. Small details which make quality and show attention, and you do expect for a hotel like this the Scandic Royal.

I loved the breakfast the most, there was so much choice and it all tasted great. The room itself was lovely and the beds were very comfortable. I really liked the pool area and how clean it was but I would rather there not be the need for a booking system so i could leisurely go for a swim when I wanted. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, also smiling and saying hello everytime we passed.

The only negative was the jacuzzi was out if order when I visited, something I was most looking forward to during my swim. But overall everything else was perfect!

Parking was limited so we were told to park in a parking garage a couple of blocks away which was not convenient. The inside of the hotel was clean but there is a lot of garbage around the neighborhood. We had not seen that anywhere else in Norway though we had visited several other cities.

Friendly staff that welcomed us and made the check in fast and easy. Clean and spacious room with a small fridge and water boiler were available. No bed sleeps like home but it was acceptable for 2 nights. We actually didnt get a chance to use the shower because we were using the showers in the pool area which I can deffinitely recommend. Good pool for late evening dipping accompanied by a nice bubble bath and sauna. Pool is not very deep so safe for children. A great choice of fresh items were ready for breakfast daily with an option for lunch packages. Only single point of "negativity" would be the parking situation. The signs on the street are very vague so to avoid a parking ticket I would recommend to use the underground parking facility. We learned this the hard way..

Nice and helpful staff, quick and efficient accommodation and check-out. Wide selection at breakfast. Nice, cozy, clean and quiet room, appropriate lighting, comfortable beds.

A room with a window onto the inner courtyard, no natural light and no possibility of airing the room. You must report your intention to use the swimming pool at the reception - this is not a problem, but it would be much easier to register online or via a QR code.

Excellent location. Easy access to in-house facilities. Welcoming interior that makes you want to relax there. Super helpful hotel staff. Who went out is their way to try and give the best of customer service.

The fact that I had to walk into reception in my swimsuit and towel ( my card was not activated for the spa properly). I wish there was option of getting a free bathrobe. The TV unit in my room didn’t actually work at all, so I never got the chance to watch any television that stay. Alao would have been handy to have a pen or something to write with at the desk part in the room - I was given a notepad but nothing to write with.

big facility offering good options for glutenfree breakfast, don‘t hesitate to ask for non-cross-contamined topings for your bread as this is an issue as some people touch normal bread with the cheese fork etc.

very crowded hotel, you risk to burn children woth your hot coffee/tea when trying to make your way from the breakfast buffet to your table, very dangerous. It should be explained what to do woth the car if the pakeing underneath the hotel is full so you don‘t need to block either the full parking or the road hile waiting your turn in the (at this moment longer) queue at reception. This stressful experience could be easily aboided if that information was give ahead.
