Located in one of the central streets of Cascais, this historic and very attractive house has been adapted in recent years to be a boutique hotel. The building and gardens are stunningly beautiful. The private and public rooms are spacious and the hotel segues into the garden, elevating the functionality of both. The staff are highly professional, engaging and attentive. One of the most pleasurable experiences I have had in 60 years of staying in hotels.
The only issue is that the hotel is not accessible for people with certain disabilities (e.g. those requiring wheelchairs). I understand it is simply not possible to install an elevator.

Everything was absolutely perfect. We booked a small double room but were upgraded to a superior room for the first night (I would have paid for the second night but it was already booked). Both beds extremely comfortable, bathrooms excellent. Breakfast in the garden was an absolutely delight. All the staff could not be more attentive - recommending restaurants, booking them for you also. Carrying luggage (no lifts) up to our room. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We ate at the newly opened Bougain Restaurant which is in the grounds of the hotel - food was perfect. Would highly recommend a stay here - even if you don't stay, book a meal at Bougain - you won't regret it.
Absolutely nothing - our stay was perfect in every way.

Very friendly and helpful hotel staff.
The publicity for the Hotel sings the praises of its breakfasts. Our experience was that breakfast is quite good, but nothing special. There's a noticeable lack of variety: jam is one kind only, 'toast of the day' is too often and unexcitingly feta & tomato or scrambled eggs (which are on the menu anyway), the bread basket is always the same three, and coffee is vacuum-jug rather thna freshly made

Really welcoming staff who were so helpful and nothing was too much to ask. The breakfast was great with some much to choose from. We ate the restaurant on our second evening, and this was a really lovely in the hotel grounds. Even if you don’t eat there, we were offered a variety of local recommendations which was really helpful. Such a quiet oasis in the busy town, and great to come back to after visiting the beach. Really gorgeous hotel, and would have loved to have stayed longer

The staff is extremely helpful, friendly, hard-working, kind and fun people. I had to stay an extra night, but the Pergola was full, so they booked a room for me at their sister property, offered a discounted rate, and carried my luggage there. The location of the Pergola is perfect, but do ask for a room facing away from a busy street, The garden is charming and peaceful. It is a relatively old house, private property, so each room is different. Chairs could have been more comfortable. Keep in mind that there is no elevator and the staircase is rather steep. No TVs or minibars in the rooms, but they are working on getting them. Breakfast, as every guest has said, is wonderful, but is it vegetarian, no bacon or Hamon for you carnivores. :) The hotel is next to the tons of restaurants and the souvenir shopping street, and in the middle of all the main sightseeing attractions. Highly recommend it for not very fussy and laid-back travelers.

The decor and overall ambience of this hotel was AMAZING! The whole place has been beautifully curated, and it smelt beautiful! The bedroom was perfect, albeit slightly small, but not a problem at all - the bed was THE COMFIEST bed I’ve slept in at a hotel. The breakfast was also AMAZING - so well thought through, and huge! It isn’t your standard buffet, it is all made to order! The location is perfect right in the centre and close to the train station. The little outside bar was adorable too! Could not fault this hotel at all - we had a fantastic few days :)
Absolutely nothing

Wonderful staff who were always friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious with a balcony overlooking the very attractive garden. An excellent location for shops, restaurants and beaches and very close to the station. Breakfast was incredible, not the usual continental breakfast fare.
The only slight negative was the bathroom was rather dated.

The Pergola is as beautiful as it is unique. Nuzzled into the heart of Cascais, the Pergola is as much an attraction as it is a great base of operations for your travels in Portugal. During our short stay at the Pergola there were numerous times where we returned to the hotel to find people standing outside its gate taking photos of its beautiful architecture and decor. Within, it is a quaint but well maintained boutique hotel with excellent food and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. They have great healthy and delicious options for breakfast, and the whole town of Cascais is just footsteps away from Pergola's beautiful private garden and patio.

It is rare for a hotel to match or exceed the images on the website. In this case, it definitely did! What a beautiful place! As it has been run by the same family for many years, the building retains many original features and furniture (although most of the bathrooms have been updated). The staff are young and exceedingly helpful (while most of the guests have grey hair). Breakfast and late afternoon drinks in the beautiful flower-covered garden was a highlight. My room even had it's own router to enhance the wifi signal! Perfectly placed as it is only a few minutes walk from the train station and the beach. I would happily stay here again.
I can't think of anything that I didn't like about this lovely hotel and the friendly staff.

The staff were phenomenal, so kind, welcoming, and helpful. Instantly made us feel at home. The included breakfast exceeded our expectations every single day. The gardens were so lush and great to lounge in. Greatest location. Best hotel stay we’ve ever had.
There were no outlets in the bathroom, so if you wanted to blow dry your hair, you had to do it in the bedroom without a mirror.
