The staff was amazing!! Though the cost is higher than many places, the rooms are comfortable and inviting, and there are many perks such as a huge breakfast and afternoon tea (basically lunch or an early dinner) as well as a free nightcap until 10pm. Very nice extras that keep you engaged in you hotel experience.

Parking was not clear to me even after texts from the staff. Here’s what you need to know. You can fully drive into Largo da Portagem and park in front of the hotel door to unload bags. Then there is some easy parking in a lot across the bridge. Some more challenging parking exists up the medieval hill with narrow road near the hotel. Know your parking before you arrive if you are driving.

Great central location, helpful and smiling staff at the reception. The bed was incredibly comfortable, as were the pillows. There was a kettle in the room and the possibility of making tea. Breakfast was tasty, although limited without hot dishes. Possibility of all-day use of the dining room and terrace on the top floor of the hotel, where there was always coffee, tea available and delicious cake.

The bathroom was beautifully finished, but it was not comfortable to use. There were no towel rails, shelves for private cosmetics. Not to mention that the toilet is visible from the bedroom... This room should at least be behind frosted glass.

Everything about this hotel was superb. Friendly, very helpful staff - thank you Anna and everyone! Location, facilities, breakfast - all wonderful.

Not having a car park or a valet service to park your car. Not having USB sockets in the room.

The hotel lobby was beautiful and our room equally so. LOVED the concept of the marble books throughout the bathroom area. Bed - amazing. Pillows - like a cloud (as Lara promised!) Breakfast buffet was far beyond the basic pastries at other hotels; and the ability to order scrambled eggs was a real treat. And the food was so fresh and beautifully presented. And your staff provided the best customer service we ever experienced. Lara was so professional, yet warm and engaging, taking the time to answer questions about Coimbra and give us a short history about the hotel itself. Ana Jesus was also lovely; quick to help however she could.

Beautiful room with very comfortable beds, best beds I’ve ever slept in. Very clean and spacious. I LOVED my room.

Breakfast was the same every morning (I stayed for three nights). Also one staff member told us they didn’t have any beer at the bar to sell us when we wanted to sit on the roof top and have a nice moment. We were told later by another staff member that this was not true. We thought it was bizarre that the bar would be empty in a hotel like this.

Great boutique hotel with only 16 rooms and a great view of the river from the rooftop and 5th floor breakfast terrace. Bed and pillow are luxurious and comfortable. I was solo traveller so didn’t mind the glass enclosed toilet and shower with full view into bedroom. Love the decor inspired by the Joanina historical library. Service was great and friendly.

There could be a slightly better spread for breakfast that includes a little more warmer food beyond continental but understand with only 16 rooms, we need to be economical.

As soon as we take the first step inside this little nest, we feel that we are in a sophisticated place, full of details and with a striking design. We were immediately welcomed into a relaxing atmosphere with the utmost friendliness from the staff who did everything they could to make our stay a special moment — special thanks to Mark, who was super friendly and helpful. Very fast check-in process. The room is top notch work, extremely comfortable, very quiet, well designed and equipped with high quality amenities. The concept of sleep spa as a global experience is something we want to repeat soon! Comfort and quality, worthy of 5 stars. Excellent location, right in the historic center, discreet building and great facilities.

The lack of bar service (at the rooftop) during the afternoon, as well as slippers/pajamas, was a bit of a disappointment, bus not a trouble for us. Breakfast could be more varied offering more products,

This hotel is beyond lovely. The room was beautifully decorated with bedding second to none. The literary them was fun and tasteful. The view was dreamy. Rooftop lounge serves drinks and tea with great service. The staff are exceedingly helpful and attentive to every need. I am here for one night and really do not want to leave. This lovely shiny hotel made this brief stay in Coimbra much more special!

Can’t think of a single complaint

The location is amazing and the staff is exceptional. They are helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast was very good. The hotel itself is very unique and the river view is outstanding.

The hotel changed ownership and has new beds. The pillows were heavy, hard memory foam pillows. Not to our liking and no other type of pillows were available for guests Hopefully, by our next stay they will have an alternative for people who prefer softer pillows.
