History, style. Lovely room.

The shower took forever to heat up and pressure went up and down. No fresh towels and because room was so cold they stayed wet. In October the room was very cold with no signs of any heating, other than an extra blanket. Wouldn’t like to stay over the winter. Staff didn’t seem to know much about surrounding area, places to visit or travel options.

Don’t believe any of that reviews of unhappy people. This is oldfashioned good stuff. A hotel, that couples fashionable style and new amenities; A lovely staff, and tons of atmosphere. If you want everything new clean and modern go to the neighbors; the Ibis hotel is One door further down. But if you want two-star charm, this is the address! Wonderful view, lovely people at the desk, a building restored with feeling and a tasteful eye for detail. We absolutely loved our stay, since the hotel is very central, but at the same time Away from the Buzzle. Do take the breakfast! It’s sweetly and lovingly prepared. And worth the money. The only drawback is that the bed had a boxspring on which I can’t sleep. My girlfriend can so she had a wonderful night, I slept on the floor :-) :-) But being a hiker that didn’t bother me a bit. Great bathroom, shower, bidet (!!) wonderful taps, and minimalistic interior of the room….building is unsurpassed. Be nice to the people, they deserve it.

Excellent location of the hotel, close to the train station and the historic city center. Friendly reception, with a lot of useful information from the responsive staff. The room we got was beautiful, tastefully furnished, with a comfortable bed, quiet, with a view of a beautiful garden. Impeccably clean room and bathroom, as well as all common areas of the hotel. The lack of clothes hangers was immediately resolved. We especially liked the spirit and charm of the old times maintained at a high level to this day in the room and other areas of the hotel.

The only minus, the lack of a hair dryer.

The hotel is very close to the center, and near a good parking option (outdoors, but attended and cheap). The hotel itself is well maintained and clean, and the shower was very good—big, high water pressure and quick and consistent hot water. The room faced the back and was quiet. Especially for the price, really wonderful. The email they sent upon reservation was full of precise and useful information which really facilitated our travel, and they were kind enough to store our suitcases and take them directly to the room as we arrived before check-in

The only detraction for us was that there was a lot of construction in front—there was no noise, but it was difficult to navigate with suitcases and umbrellas, and I felt bad about getting gravel and mud on their beautiful wood floors.

The hotel has a grandness about it -- high ceilings, well-appointed rooms, with a sophisticated style, as if the designer had an eye for class. There were several reception rooms on the first floor -- with nice comfortable couches. The breakfast room was small and intimate, with tasty continental breakfasts (cold cuts, cheese, pastries, cereal, coffee and tea, fruit); breakfasts cost 8 euros apiece and they were a good value. The hotel is within walking distance of much of the old Coimbra downtown, and a short hike to the university. The staff was friendly and personable. The rooms were clean.

The wifi Internet service was sometimes intermittent in our room. We advised the staff that they should consider getting so-called wifi extender boxes to boost the range of the signals. But we managed by moving our laptops to one of the reception rooms and then we had a perfect signal.

The location was good apart from the road construction outside. Our room was at the back, so we weren't affected by noise from the work. The staff were fantastic, the room was spacious and clean. Lovely building.

There was a dog barking a lot each morning which woke us up. I'm not sure where the dog was, but it was close by somewhere. Otherwise, an excellent stay.

This hotel is in the opposite of the river Mantego and in a 5-minutes walk you are in the heart of Coimbra. Rooms directly to the street might be very noisy. I would recommend to choose a room, that leads to the side of the building. The reception is not always physically available, but you can always easily communicate with a kind of intercom system. In advance you will get a very extensive information by mail. For a short stay a satisfying option.

Perfect stay in this hotel. It is located in an old and very beautiful building. This building has recently been renovated so it all looks very clean and fresh. There is no elevator, but the staff proposes to carry your luggage. The staff is very friendly. The spontaneously want to help you or have a conversation. The reception was amazing. It all made me feel very welcome. That is rare nowadays. For me the most important thing is cleanliness. Often hotels in lower price ranges are acceptable, but a little old and dirty. This place was 100% clean.I felt at ease, just like home. In the end this was just perfect. Most hotels in this price range are bad or average, but not this one. It was by far the best place I was in Portugal. I am always happy to be in a small local place. This is much better than a soulless chain like the Ibis hotel next doors. Choose this place and support local people! All that for a low price So 5 👍👍👍👍👍 from me.

All fine

Very clean with old world charm. An ideal choice for budget travelers. Friendly staff always made you feel welcomed.

Busy construction work on the street made for difficult access. This is not something the hotel can control.

The hotel have a great location, it is near the principal street with restaurants, bars, gift stores and night life. The only problem was the construction field at the door, but this is not the hotel's fault.

I would like to have breakfast at the hotel, but the price of 8 euros per person was a little high. Near by there is one of the most traditional caffes of the city (Briosa) and you can eat for less than that.
