Our host, Andre, did an excellent job. He found a very convenient parking spot for us just 5 minutes away from the apartment. Unfortunately, there was some construction nearby, so it was noisy during the day. Overall, it was a very nice experience.

We stayed for 5 nights, and no one came to clean during our stay. Since we were renting an apartment, cleaning might have been our responsibility, but no supplies were provided. On the 4th day, when it was getting quite dirty, I requested either cleaning or a vacuum cleaner so I could do it myself. They promised to take care of it, but unfortunately, they forgot about us. Aside from that, we had a nice experience.

Really nice bedrooms, the view of the plaza is really nice. Location is great. Aircon works perfectly same as WiFi. The water pressure of the shower is really nice and the hot water is more than enough. It has a small kitchen with basic needs but complete. They help you with airport transfer, which I appreciated.

There’s no room cleaning, if you stay more than 7 days you are entitled to half cleaning, which is fine but maybe some basic things to clean like a little broom would be appreciated. I would also appreciate a shampoo, body soap, and hair conditioner dispenser, you’ll need to buy yours.

Excellent location in the old town and walking distance to everything in Funchal. Bed was very comfortable and the room was well appointed with everything needed for a short stay.

There wasn't a clothes washing machine in the apartment (despite the listing saying it was provided) which meant I had to call the host to get laundry done. Twice my clothes came back still damp. Also, the shower doesn't drain very well which meant that any more than a two minute shower could potentially cause the bathroom to flood.

The location of the property is magnificent, walking distance everywhere and just 10 minutes from the beach. The facilities are very good, including a washing machine and a well supplied kitchen, the minimalist decoration makes the place modern yet cozy. It’s a good value for money

We struggled a bit finding parking because there were no parkings around apart from the street itself so I’d recommend the property to have an agreement with different parking around and make the stay smoother. They should replace the AC machine because it seemed a bit old and it kept switching off every 30mins aprox.

Excellent location. It is the heart of the old city. I attach a picture from my window. The room is comfortable, equipped with everything you need. The air conditioning was especially helpful in hot weather. Very clean apartment. Excellent attitude of the manager. Andre was very responsive to all my requests, for which I am especially grateful. A convenient transfer from the airport was organized for me as well. I recommend it to everyone!

The location was perfect, right in the centre of everything, a stone’s throw from the beach, yet very peaceful at night. It was also very clean and the two bedrooms and two showers + toilets were handy. Our apartment was on the top floor which made it very quiet as well. We also noticed that they arrange transportation to levadas which is handy (we only noticed this on our last night so did not get a chance to try it out)

They required a 100€ deposit in cash when we arrived, which was not mentioned when booking the place. Nothing shady going on - we got the deposit back when we left - but would be good to mention in advance.

We had a lovely holiday in Funchal. The Esmerelda apartment is in a great location for accessing all of the attractions close to the city centre , harbour and Cruise port. There are a multitude of Cafe's, restaurants and shops in the immediate vicinity.For those on Self - Catering vacations there are excellent Supermarkets and Farmers Markets nearby . The Apartment which we were in was fine for short stays and the owner Teresa kindly asked her manageress Samy to show us some of her other properties nearby which she lists and would suit most people's needs. All of the staff at the Esmerelda Apartments were very friendly and helpful. A great find, we would like to return for another stay over New Year.

Amazing location directly in the old center of the city. Very friendly and helpful host.

Poorly equipped storage areas. There are large cabinets for clothes in the bedrooms, but very little coat hangers with no shelfs and drawers. Just one chest of drawers in the corridor between the bedrooms. All this for up to 6 persons. The apartment has only one air conditioning unit above the entrance door. Insufficient solution, because it was not possible to cool the bedrooms. Not enough equipped kitchenette. Not issue for us, just let to know, if you plan to cook.

Great location. There is no balcony or washing machine (not all the room has it) but it’s ok. Everything else met the expectations. Be sure to have 100 euro in cash for deposit which they will take on day one and return in the last day once the room is inspected. There is very simple cooking facility.

The location is ideal and close to everything, restaurants, barato and sights in Funchal. The apartamentos is a confortable studio, modern and pretty

Minor, but for the price I would have appreciated shampoo and soap for showering. There is handsoap though . The apartment faces a little plaza that sometimes gets its share of drunk people at night that can be noisy.
