The location is amazing being very central to everything in Funchal! The kitchen is fully stocked and the staff were helpful. The bottom bunks had good privacy and each bed has a reading light and charging socket. You get given lockable storage and a towel free of charge and the rooms are overall very clean.
The patio furniture smelt strongly of smoke and was very echoey. The building seems old so that might be why. All through the night you can hear people walking around with creaking floorboards and chatter in the patio. As well as this you can hear the conversations in the room next to you very clearly. Again this is probably because it is an old building. This would not deter me from staying again but may be something to keep in mind if you are a light sleeper. Also no mosquito nets at the windows so if you don’t have repellent be ready to get eaten alive lol.

Great little place, doesn’t have a vibe of a hostel so great for people who are on a budget but not so social, two owners are really nice and helpful, they keep the place very clean. Location is very central, few mins walk to everything you need. Great showers. Wifi was fine for working but did sometimes cut of for a minute (209.1 Mbps download, 10.9 Mbps upload), the annoying thing was that every floor has a different wifi network. I had unlimited data but there was barely any signal on the patio to be able to use it.
The only thing that is really annoying is that there is no sound isolation at all. The floors are really creaky and very loud, there is no way to be quiet when arriving late or leaving early, can even hear the showers when on which are all the way down the hall.

Location was perfect! Carla and Andrea were very welcoming and helpful. Bed was comfy, and the comforter was so soft! I was surprised to learn they had a washer and a hair blower! I didn't use the washer because I made sure I did my laundry before I got there, but I did use the hair blower which was so welcomed!
I only stayed two nights, and was barely in the room, so it's hard to say, but the only thing that I didn't care for was the bar that holds the curtain. I sat on the curtain and it fell down and It was hard to get back in place, so you have to be careful when you sit on the bed not to pull it down. But this is so incredibly inconsequential.

This hidden gem proved that being budget-friendly doesn't mean compromising on quality. I arrived for a late check-in, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure a smooth arrival. They provided clear and concise instructions for hassle-free self-check-in. The dorm rooms, albeit cozy for four people, were surprisingly comfortable. The beds were adorned with crisp white sheets, and generously sized towels were provided. The beds are equipped with individual lighting and sockets for each person, allowing for a personalized and convenient experience; sizable lockers are located under the bunk beds. Additionally, anti-mosquito plugins and fans in the rooms ensured a comfortable stay. With two showers, sinks, and toilets, there was never a wait, even during peak times. The hairdryer is also available in the bathroom. The communal areas were equally impressive. The fully equipped kitchen boasted everything from a kettle to a coffee machine, toaster, microwave, fridge, and cooking panel. Coupled with complimentary tea and coffee, it added an extra layer of comfort. The common room, adorned with books and tourist brochures, and the big TV provided a cozy spot to unwind. The hostel's patio was a charming spot to enjoy a meal. A bonus was the provided dress dryer, a thoughtful addition for those exploring the island's outdoors. The hostel's strong WiFi signal throughout the premises was a significant plus, ensuring seamless connectivity for work or leisure. The greatest advantage is the location of the hostel: on a quiet street, but a 5-minute walk to the bustling city center and all the main bus stops.
Admittedly, the only downside was the creaky floor. However, a pair of earplugs easily mitigated any disturbance, especially if you anticipate sharing your space with other travelers :)

The property is in a very central location of Funchal Old Town with good value underground parking just a block away. Everything you need is within walking distance. The property itself was very comfortable. The bed comes with a lamp, a socket and a privacy curtain. Very spacious locker underneath the beds. Bathrooms were clean and also relatively spacious. The patio is also a nice addition especially having the morning coffee there. Great value, highly recommended !
The balcony overlooks the street and can get quite loud till late in the evening, but it’s situated in the vibrant old town so this should be expected.

The location was superb. Very close to pubs and cafes. East to reach the ocean for a morning run or the port for a sunset sail. The kitchen contains basics such as coffee and tea. The hostel was very clean and overall quiet.
Squeaky floors and not enough storage. Showers would use a more frequent cleaning. I had a street window which was a bit loud at times.

Very good location (almost flat road to the city center, which is important and rare for Madeira). Stylish apartments with well-equipped kitchen (you can find even a big pack of shared wine there), clean toilets (with paper napkins for hands, so you don't have to take a towel from the room), shared terrace outside. Good temperature inside in February. Good communication with the hoster, easy check-in (at 18:00 the reception was closed, but we had received the codes and even a paper letter for self check-in). The hoster was also so nice not to take the payment for the parking, which was booked but not needed in the end. The hoster also let us leave the luggage after check-out.
That would probably more convenient to have the bathroom on the same floor with the room, but it's just a result of the construction of the building, it wasn't too inconvenient as well as everything was close. You can hear your neighbours quite well, but it's also very common for Portugal and hasn't spoiled the overall impression. Would stay here again!

The property was small and homey, the rooms were only 4 bunks so it didn’t feel over crowded and the outdoor common space was beautiful in the back yard! The kitchen was also roomy and they have a place for all your things! I met so many amazing people during my time there so I would say my expectations were exceeded and my time there was amazing bc the ambiance made it easy to meet people along with the super accommodating staff that let me upgrade my room twice during my stay!
My dislike isn’t exclusive to this place but most places in Europe don’t have air conditioning and I went during the hottest time!

This was one of the best hostel experiences I had in a while. The hostel is really comforable, in a good location, and above all, the atmosphere is great. It's a perfect place to meet other travelers, people kept coming and going, but at all times it felt like we are one big family. It's very easy to make friends in this hostel.
While I was staying there, an older couple was complaining daily that the place should be quiet after 22:00. This is a hostel, the reviews clearly indicate that it's good for socialising. Everyone who wants privacy has an option of going to a hotel, airbnb, private accommodation, etc. Or just to get earplugs. Hostels are basically the only type of accommodation that allows for socialising to this extent, so please don't ruin it for everyone by complaining constantly about the noise. You know what to expect when you book a room in a hostel.

N. B. I am 75 and never travel with any mobile devices. The lady who managed the hostel tried to get a lower bunk for me, but all were taken. However, a young girl helped me down from the bunk when I was at risk of falling and willingly offered me her lower bunk. The sheets were changed and the lady then verified my flights for me. Thank heavens as my 9:50 a.m. flight had been changed to 6 a.m.! She also checked the Aerobus schedule for me and told me where the stop was as well as how to get there from the hostel. The young lady who exchanged her bunk with me invited me to join her for tea. Tea and coffee were available for free. The young lady was a lovely conversationalist and even set her i-phone to wake me at 1:30 a.m., so I could walk to the stop ahead of time to make sure I got the necessary transportation to the airport. The location was ideal to get to museums of interest and downtown. There was a storage area with a key to lock all valuables. I was there only minimal time but others could cook there as all equipment was provided for such long term clients. The decor was attractive too. Washrooms were on a lower floor, clean and well equipped.
