Paço de São Cipriano is an incredibly beautiful historical house with stunning gardens and comfortable and clean rooms. We were extremely well received by the family that has occupied this house for centuries and felt right at home. We also enjoyed listening to the many stories around the house which allowed us to better appreciate its importance and meaning. The house is extremely well located, near Guimaraes and many other points of interest of the North of Portugal. At the same time, it is set well within a large property, with a forest and a secluded garden, so that we thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful environment, especially waking up in the morning and only hearing the sounds of birds and water trickling from the many fountains in the garden. We highly recommend staying here, for a truly authentic northern portuguese experience as well as the opportunity to visit and sleep in one of the most beautiful houses in Portugal.

A short drive from the city of Guimarães - Portugal's birthplace almost 1,000 ago - this 15th century house has been in the same family for 600 years. The atmosphere is one of living, and very lived, history, a stage where the house, the furniture, the beautiful garden and the family are intertwined - sometimes indistinctly... We were given a large, clean, aristocratic room with one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in. Our stay proved to be as charming as we had hoped for, with thanks to the owners for their extraordinary welcome.

Outstanding guest house with rich history and antique furniture. Great building and territory. The place itself comes from 14th century, but was substantially modified over the course of the centuries. There are many rooms and spaces to explore and enjoy. If you behave well the owner can also show you a beautiful chapel of 18th century that belongs to the property. Feels like you live in a museum. Pleasant quiet atmosphere. Home-made food for breakfast. Isabel, who runs this place together with her brother, was a very friendly and welcoming hostess.

The place is REALLY old, and you should keep this in mind when booking. You may not feel comfortable if you are looking for modern facilities. Everything necessary is there, but the bathroom in our apartment was tiny, furniture was old, and the room may get cold at night (we use a heater even despite it was already May). You need a car to get to the place and to travel around. There is nothing nearby.

We had an amazing stay at the beautiful 15th-century hotel in Porto area. The friendly staff provided great hospitality, turning on the heater upon our rainy day arrival. The room had fresh flowers and embroidered sheets, and breakfast by the fireplace included fresh fruit. The wonderful garden, forest, and guided tours of the old chapel and surroundings added to the charm. Highly recommended!

This is such an amazing place! We felt like royalty staying here in this castle-like location! The way we were welcomed felt like we were family. We got a brief history of the place on arrival wich was very interesting! We stayed in the tower room. We had an amazing view of the garden and of the little square! Breakfast is made personally by the owner. You can really feel that she loves what she does and she really makes you feel like you are home. All.in all a 10 out of 10!

This property is unique as it remains in the hands of the Family who have owned the property since the 14th Century. It has not been modernised and made into a corporate venture . Here you will find what the French Philosopher Gaston Bachelard described as ‘homeness’ rich in emotion and memory . This is what I felt when I entered the gates of Paco de S Cipriano

We very much enjoyed our stay in this beautiful historical house. There is lots of space inside (library, sitting rooms) and outside (pool area, formal garden, 80 hectars of forest and surrounding area) which is true luxury. The family of the owners are exceptionally friendly and answer all questions (although for them it must be a constant repetition). The breakfast was excellent. We felt really at home. In fact, it is so nice, that one rather stays at the property than visits the surrounding cities. Some guests remarked that the bathroom is small: this is true, but the bathroom is very functional and hence absolutely satisfying.

We were welcomed like in a home by the super nice landlords, generations in this beautiful huge property, and it is totally in nature, and the pool at sunset was fantastic

The farmhouse was exceptional. To be in a 500+year old building for us Australians was a rare treat. The staff went above and beyond for us, so friendly, accommodating and generous. Great company, fantastic room, beautiful grounds and pool, comfy four poster bed and the breakfast was spectacular. Couldn't fault it and we will definitely be back for a winter escape as we could imagine in the cold, with the fires lit, it would be so cozy and atmospheric. We absolutely loved it.
