I would come back here and stay for as many nights as my itinerary allows any time. We only stayed one night, tragically, but since we arrive by 3pm we were able to actually swim in and sit by the pool (mid-April) for a few hours, all with the most spectacular view of the river, valley and vineyards. Enjoyed socializing poolside with other guests. The room was very comfortable with easy access outside to the impeccable grounds. Bathroom was great. Breakfast was great. The views from every angle were great. The weather was great. The driveway was great and the parking was, too. The gourmet dinner was terrific and my wife said that their wine was the best that she's ever had anywhere in the world.

Loved the setting, the staff and the ambience. Food was great too. The pool has the most amazing view. The hotel is beautiful, very clean and the staff could not have been more helpful and kind.

The drive! I know this sounds odd but if you’re driving I would prefer to drive in central London than go up and down the drive! It’s really narrow, steep and with an SUV some corners require 3 point turns. It’s the fear of meeting someone coming the other way (which we did despite the red light warning system). Makes for a captive audience on dinner as you definitely wouldn’t do that after a drink! Food’s great though so not a problem.

Very lovely modern premises overlooking the Douro River. We had a comfortable room which included a good sized terraced with a beautiful view. An excellent breakfast with a good selection. While optional, we had dinner each evening of our stay and although in our view pricey the food and the service was of an excellent standard.

Lovely good sized pool but unfortunately not heated. Manning of reception seemed to be a bit of hit and miss. Unlike other places we stayed our experience of reception was more a function rather than an opportunity to provide us with helpful information on the area.

Everything: location, comfort, friendly staff, great breakfasts, wonderful dinners, spectacular pool, lovely vineyards to wander through

Two minor things, which didn’t detract from the excellent stay: The narrow, long, winding and steep drive from the road isn’t for the faint-hearted (very difficult if you meet someone leaving when you’re driving in). Also on our (lower) floor there seemed to have been some leak or flood in the corridor which could have done with being tidied up better until it was fixed

This hotel was wonderful in every way! The facilities are thoughtfully designed and elegant. Each room seems very private and has a view of the gorgeous Douro river valley. We had dinner in the restaurant (very pleasant outdoor seating); the service was very friendly and attentive and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Breakfast was ample, with a good selection of sweet and savory options, including fresh fruit and scrambled eggs. We enjoyed the pool (a bit brisk but pleasant!). As others have noted, the drive up is somewhat challenging, but the accommodations at the hotel are well worth it. It is quiet and peaceful and the views are incredibly beautiful.

Location and views are stunning. Staff were lovely and helpful. The food and wine were excellent. Room was really comfortable and lovely to have seating right outside. In fact there are seating areas everywhere. The pool was beautiful.

The single track twisty road up could be interesting if you met anyone coming the other way. Hopefully, the traffic light system stops that happening!

The location and the view of the Douro river. The infinity pool with the view was fantastic. Service was excellent as were the wines. We enjoyed our personal wine tasting and the walks around the vineyard. The gardens and terraces for sitting outside were beautiful.

The room did not feel as luxurious as the rest of the hotel. The food at dinner was not as good as we hoped and for four nights more variety would have helped. A shame the bar menus did not go into the evening. The taxi to Pinhao is expensive so too much to go in for an evening meal.

Beautiful location and breathtaking views especially from the swimming pool and our room’s terrasse. Breakfast very generous. The waitress was very happy to see that my son eats copiously and spoiled him with pastries, cheese, fruits and cold cuts. I liked the outside’s layouts, the different terrasses and its contemporary look.

My experience with the person working at the reception desk wasn’t satisfactory. I don’t know if it was because of a language barrier or because the man who worked there was new to the place but he didn’t informed us with the right information. At the evening of our arrival, he told us that our only option for diner at the hotel was a prix fixe menu (we discovered two days later that there were plenty of a la carte options.) When we asked him the name of a town we can eat, he gave us the name of a town that was 45minutes away from the hotel.. In fact, they were a lot of restaurant choices in the town of Pinhao (10 minutes away.) Another reception worker was also not very helpful.

The views of the river and surrounding vineyards was mesmerizing and the property so peaceful, tranquil and romantic. Highly recommend it to any couple. The wine and port tasting was very good. Staff was very attentive, the pool cool refreshing and the view! Please enjoy a gourmet meal from the restaurant on the terrace!

Quiet, in a fantastic spot, clean, tasty food, the staff were incredible and we were so so happy there! The pool and the view was amazing and everything was decent price.

Only one small thing to note - a cab that picked us up started the fare at 16Euros and cost us 38 to get to town. On the way back, it cost 22 Euros. It would have been good for the hotel to have note of reliable and reasonable taxis.. but not at all the hotels fault. A really lovely stay overall!
