We had an amazing stay here during our trip along the Douro train line. The rooms were clean, had fast WiFi and hot showers. The views of the Douro River were stunning. There are two balconies with chairs to sit and take in the scenery. One of my favorite moments was waving to passing cruise ship passengers from the hotel balcony! The pool area also had chairs for lounging. Our two-night stay ended up being a bit unexpected. On the day we were supposed to leave, the trains were canceled due to a rockfall on the tracks—a common occurrence during the rainy season, as we learned. The hotel owners were incredibly kind, translating the situation for us in English and even offering to call a taxi. Instead, we chose to stay an extra night and catch the train the following day once the tracks were cleared. We also had the chance to try both nearby restaurants, and they were among the best we’ve had during our time in Portugal. There’s a boardwalk along the river just a short walk from the hotel and a dam a little ways up the road. Both worth checking out. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling the Douro line.

Nothing. Everything was superb!

This was our second time staying at this amazing hotel. We have told various friends who have now stayed too. It's in a great location, quiet, and easily accessible on the train. There's no evening dinner service but a couple of fab restaurants practically next door. The family owners are so friendly and welcoming - everyone looked after us with kindness. The hotel is spotless and the rooms are simple, very comfortable, and cleaned every day. The breakfast is superb and even better when enjoyed on the terrace. Because what really sells this place is the incredible view. It just cannot be beaten. Take a dip in the glorious pool, overlooking the river, and relax! We will definitely be back.

We loved to quiet village of Tua where the hotel is located. its located across the road from a local railway station - only a few trains stop and go through each day - none at night - they did not disturb us at all. On the other side of the hotel is the Douro River, and our room had a spectacular view over the river, and surrounding vineyards around it. The bed and pillows were comfy, the shower was fine, and the room size was also acceptable. The place was clean and tidy, and the family who owned the hotel were delightful. Breakfast was good, with locally produced breads, jam and other items on offer. Outside there are three areas where you can sit, one of them being next to the lovely pool which overlooks the river and vineyards. There are poolside beds that you can use for free. In the village are three food outlets - two within a minutes walk of the hotel, and another within the centre of the village. We ate at all of them, and they all offered a friendly service, with home cooked quality food, at a good price. Obviously the wine on offer was very nice ! The village is quite remote, but easily accessible via the train service from Porto (which goes through Pinhao and Peso de Regua. We rented a car, and explored the whole area, including Lamego. There are taxis locally, but not many, and I am not sure if Bolt or Uber operate in the area. If you do have a car, then you will be able to fully explore all the unusual sights, and quiet quaint villages the Douro valley offers. We loved the area and people who we met, and would recommend the destination if you like nature, hiking, and good wine and food.

If you don't have a car, then you will miss out on seeing some of the more 'off the beaten track' sites and locations. However, if you want to relax, then just use the train service and local taxi's and that will probably all you need.

The perfect place to spend several days soaking up the gorgeous views, relaxing as you watch the river boats drift by. Wonderful, caring staff who made you feel so welcome. Breakfast was plentiful, and a good selection. Highly recommend the train to Pochino, absolutely magnificent views of the Douro Valley, and also the train to Pinhao. We loved the village of Foz Tua. The local restaurants offered a great menu, especially the fish. This family run hotel is to be congratulated for it's wonderful customer service.

We were three people staying in a triple room. It was clean and spacious with a bottle of water for each person. No coffee facilities in the room. The bathroom was spacious. Everything was as described on the amenities list. We drove by car and parking space was available infront of the hotel. We went for a walk along the river and was amazed by the amount of fish, birds and fruit trees that we saw along the river. There is a wonderful restaurant just next door. A very nice breakfast was included in the price.

To stay for only one night. ;-D I would have loved to stay longer.

Location and easy-going atmosphere made for a relaxing stay. Breakfast was a good buffet and although no other meals are offered in the hotel the restaurant next door is outstanding and clearly look after the hotel guests well.

One of the other guests liked the sound of her (very loud) voice which spoilt the tranquility of the poolside atmosphere but there's nothing the hotel can do about that. Brits abroad eh? Luckily we left the next day but we'll be back.

This hotel is a real gem, especially if you like being in the wilderness. It is so peaceful with many beautiful walks nearby. The staff are wonderful & ready to give you help to make your stay pleasant. We really enjoyed the breakfast on the terrace with stunning views of the river. Good restaurants on your doorstep & easy to get to on the train from Porto.

It would be good if the hotel did evening meals as well. They have plenty of space to accommodate this.

Fantastic location in the heart of Douro Valley. There are two restaurants, train station and even small museum in town. There is absolutely gorgeous view from rooms facing the river. Hotel's pool is beautiful, with the view of river and boats going by. Nice to sit by the pool in the evening as well. Easy connection to other towns by train or car. Staff very nice and helpful. Great breakfast.

I like everything about this hotel.

The hotel has a beautiful location on the riverbank and adjacent to the small railway station. It has great facilities for all weathers, including swimming pool, games room, library, lounge, bar etc. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, really flexible and ready to help. Breakfast was superb, an excellent choice and plenty of it. On the last day I had to leave before breakfast so they provided a packed lunch instead, which was kind. The hotel didn't serve evening meals during my stay (low season), but there are three great restaurants in the village so that's not a problem.

Tua is a small, rural village. Out of season, there isn't actually that much to do in the village itself (I expect there would be more options in the summer). In April, my options were couple of nice but short hiking trails, and some interesting small museums. The main public transport in and out of Tua is the railway (which is superbly scenic) but during my stay the train service was reduced owing to some staff being on strike, and this limited my options for using Tua as a base for travelling to nearby towns. This doesn't reflect badly on the hotel itself. In fact the hotel staff were very helpful in identifying which trains were still running, and investigating other public transport options, as well as recommending things to do in and around Tua itself.

It’s located in the beautiful Douro Valley and Tua in particular is fantastic for people with normally busy lives who just want to escape. The hotel were very accommodating regarding our children’s allergies, the apartment was spotless. The views were breathtaking.

We loved our stay and our only problem is how popular the hotel in that we’ve not been able to secure another booking with them in Summer. We will try again for next year
