The hotel met our expectations based on the previous reviews. The location is very good, only a few minutes walk away from the ferry to Valletta. We spent 4 nights there from Thursday to Monday. The neighbourhood is very quiet and the hotel is fairly new so the windows are also well insulated. This gives you piece and quiet in the room (provided you don't have noisy guests next door, but this was not the case). We booked a standard room overlooking the inner yard without a balcony, but got an upgrade to a deluxe room with a balcony. The double bed was huge (probably about 220 cm) and very comfortable. Everyone from the staff we met was very polite and friendly, and not in an artificial way. The breakfast was very good, the cappucino was excellent and the prices in the Talk of Town cafe where we had drinks and some food in the evenings was very reasonable. The wellness area has a small pool (big enough for kids) and a few different types of saunas. All in all we very much enjoyed our stay.

The heating function of the AC only worked in the evenings. It would have been nice if it had worked in the morning too, but it was not too much of an inconvenience for us.

Staff are absolutely fantastic. Our kids ended up ill with chest infections on the second day and I asked could they recommend a doctor. Reception had us an appointment within 5 mins and 10 mins later they were being examined by a doctor located just around the corner. In less than an hour from the request we were back in the hotel with antibiotics for both kids who were much better within a day. Food selection at the buffet is amazing and the staff are so attentive and helpful they were especially good with our young kids. Special shout out to Leonie and Marvin for making mealtime so pleasant and your interactions and kindness with the kids

Not much, would be nice to have decent coffee facilities in the room instead of Nescafe instant but its a minor thing.

Even though the room was a "family room", it had stone flooring, so was not possible to let the baby crawl around, as she would have caught a cold. Both the room's main entry door and the door to the bathroom was defect, and closing was not possible without a big bang / considerable noise. The room was supposed to be sound insulated, but a party on Saturday night kept up the family until late at night.

Fantastic hotel, beyond expectations. Beautiful hotel. Huge rooms, modern. All in top condition. Cleaned thoroughly. The person who cleaned was even folding my clothes. Onces my slippers were broken they replaced them without me having to ask. The service is excellent. Stuff is most helpful. Once kids next door were making a mess at night. Not only the receptionist came twice to talk to them but offered a different room for the night. Breakfast is excellent. Everything is fresh and there’s not just the standard stuff. We had a dinner at the asian restaurant for the New Year. Food and service were great. Great location. Next to the ferry, 2 supermarkets, 2 shopping malls and a shopping street. Yet in a quiet neighbourhood. There’s a beautiful church just in front. In general people in Malta are very friendly. We were very much amazed. Had a fantastic trip and hope to come back.

Not one negative thing I can say

The hotel was in a good location, just a few minutes walk from the coast and a nice breakfast place called WOM (Word Of Mouth) - would recommend. The hotel itself is nice, with lots of cafes and bars etc. which are nice, if expensive. The room itself had the biggest bed i have ever seen! :-) There was a good bathroom and complementary water and bottle of wine. The staff were helpful and the check out time was good. Its approx 15 mins to walk to the person ferry to Valletta or there are many Bolts around (download the app before your trip - its very similar to Uber).

Cost of the bars and the breakfast were a bit steep.

Clean and quiet room, comfortable bed, good location, nice breakfast, very friendly and attentive staff.

The shower nozzle is positioned on one side of the bathtub and spray towards outside, which is not convenient. It’s hard not to flood the bath room.

Hotel is well located near to Silema seafront but set a bit back so quieter, which is nice. Also made for a handy jumping off point to get to other areas of the island. Our room was a great size, incredibly spacious, however. The view across to Valetta from our room was spectacular and I'm not sure could be beaten. Breakfast was nice, with a good variety of food option and dietary requirements are accompdated. There is an option to sit inside or outside on the terrace. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The rooftop pool has a great atmosphere and we didn't have any issue finding free sunloungers.

The furniture in our room was worn and dated looking, with warping to the furniture and very saggy and uncomfortable sofas. This unfortunately made it feel less luxurious than we had expected.

The rooftop pool area was a personal highlight, providing breathtaking panoramic views of Malta. It’s the perfect spot to relax and unwind. The spa and fitness center are also excellent, offering a range of services to cater to all needs. The dining experience was unforgettable. The breakfast buffet was rich and varied, featuring high-quality ingredients and catering to all dietary preferences. I also dined at the on-site restaurant, and the food was nothing short of exquisite—each dish was a testament to the chef's skill and creativity. Above all, the staff made my stay truly memorable. Every team member I encountered was friendly, attentive, and genuinely invested in ensuring that I had the best possible experience. Their dedication to customer service sets AX Palace apart from other luxury hotels. In summary, AX Palace is a perfect blend of comfort, luxury, and exceptional service. Whether you're visiting Malta for business or leisure, I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. I can’t wait to return!

I really appreciated the hotel staff's great attitude, professionalism and kindness. They offered a room upgrade and showed personal attention and consideration. The spacious bed in the deluxe room was perfect to enjoy a good night's rest and the balcony was a nice addition. Room service was reliable and there were ample dining options. We also enjoyed the indoor pool which was perfect for November weather!

There were no major faults, but if the hotel deems itself to be a 5 star hotel, I would expect more bespoke breakfast dishes (beyond baked beans, eggs and rashers) and a nicer lounge at the reception. It was dimly lit and not necessarily true to the photos.

We moved from a Junior suite , to a Design Suite ( Fabric) , and then to a junior suite in your brother hotel the Victoria - all accommodation was immaculate, staff were exemplary and the location was perfect. The evening meal at the roof top Asian Restaurant, was, as I imagine eating in heaven would be. Food was out of this world and the attending staff could not have been selected any better.

I was admitted to the St James private Hospital, on our second day and did not see any more of the hotel. I will be back to enjoy those things that my wife enjoyed and more. Thank you.
