The staff were very welcoming and also helped us with booking taxis whenever needed. The staff at the restaurant were also great! It was away from all of the hustle and bustle of stone town, so was a nice relaxing place to stay if you don’t want to be in the mix. WiFi was good and we loved the indoor/outdoor bathroom. The beach nearby was so beautiful and clean! Would definitely stay here again!

They could put a fridge in the rooms and have more variety at breakfast.

Beautiful setting and charming rooms: wooden beds, coconut taps, jute rugs and beds strewn with flower petals. The staff were so friendly and took great care of us - serving delicious meals, making excellent smoothies and cocktails, turning down our beds at night and keeping our rooms spotless. Our children and parents were lucky enough to have a room which led directly on to the pool while we had a lovely, spacious villa with en-suite and a private garden. The grounds were maintained very well and the lodge’s restaurant (in the Baobab tree) was extraordinary.

Still this lodge was very comfortable, the setting like a paradise and the staff so incredibly friendly, helpful and engaging. I could easily walk to the breathtaking seashore nearby that was dramatic in high and low tide. The chef was fantastic and food really delicious. I ate almost every meal here over my 5-day stay. I enjoyed great massages at poolside in a private tent. The Masai show was really great to see and then we all had so much fun dancing all together.

I felt some discomfort about it being so close to a forest reserve and in a precious grove of baobab tree, especially that some limbs of a magnificent baobab were cut to accommodate the building of a tree house into it. This houses the restaurant. It is exquisite and enchanting I must admit. I did see that nearby someone else is building a lodge or restaurant into another tree. This saddens me because the forests and wildlife are far more precious than any tourists, so please don’t compromise your island for us tourists.

The staff at the Baobab lodge were all lovely, very friendly and always helpful, when we checked in we had two issues with the bungalow which were fixed almost immediately which I appreciate how quick the hotel wanted to resolve the matter. The location though secluded was really safe at no point did we (a group for 4 female friends feel unsafe). The breakfast is decent and the lunch and dinner menu were not bad either. Travel is easily arranged and accessible. the rooms are cleaned and mopped and beds made daily the surrounding area outside the rooms are also kept neat and tidy. there is also a lovely mocktail and cold towl on arrival which was a nice touch. Overall i would recommend this hotel and would probaly visit again.

The electric does cut out from time to time especially at night time, but there seems to be a back up generator that kicks in a couple seconds later, which reboots both the wifi and aircon. The Location is very secluded, not great if you are planning excursions outside/far away. The shower is okay, the water pressure isnt great but it does the trick and you do get hot water.

Fantastic staff! Wonderful location surrounded by huge baobabs. The Mtende village nearby is absolutely gorgeous, and we loved strolling around it. Good facilities and a great bar next to the pool.

I am not convinced that having a restaurant on top of a hundreds-year-old baobab tree is not harmful to it. It was a slightly bittersweet experience sitting in that restaurant. There is a 10-12 minute walk to the beach, along a busy road frequented by vans bringing tourists to this famous beach. The Wi-Fi is substandard.

My kids loved this place most of all the places we've stayed at. The pool was great, just coloring bright colors, rather take dark swimming suit. The property was small, nice, clean, calm, green, and baobabs charming. The restaurant up in the tree was pleasurable, food was really tasty. Mtende Beach was about 5 minutes walk and it is so lovely place. Staff was kind and good mooded. We were very satisfied and enjoyed the stay. We would definitely return if there's a chance.

The fan on the top floor was too noisy and did not cool enough I think. The Aircon downstairs was totally fine. One wall of the bathroom would need a new paint. The area is very quiet and secluded, not much to do, but that is a matter of preference. The quiet place has its own advantages.

The location of this place is very unique and special! From the check-in day with a lovely reception with fresh juice and cool perfumed towels to refresh from the day heath, until the checkout, we felt immediately that this accomodation would be our favorite in Zanzibar! Everything that is there is made and taken care with love, joy and effort. It is beautifully imagined and created with vision. We slept wonderfully in the quietness of the place, and we had very relaxing days, we just used to go out to go to the beautiful beach (5min walking), we had everything we needed inside: a stunning restaurant literally in the giant and old baobab tree, where wood and illumination result in a perfect ambience to have dinner. The food was everyday fresh and delicious, very well prepared and served by the nicest staff ever! To burn the calories we used to go to the gym and meet with the resident little monkey, Mr. Bob! :) we had so much fun! To relax, we had some card games, domino, with the pool bar close to have a fresh drink. Finally, a word to Aisha the massage lady (yes, they also provide massage service!): we loved your work and thank you for relaxing us so much! :) For the owners, Sophie & Eric: we are very lucky to have been in your beautiful lodge and having the chance to meet you! Staff is very friendly. Swimming pool absolutely stunning and everything is always clean. Really Good breakfast. 😋 Absolutely Love Bob. 🐒 We had a great time at Boabab Africa Lodge and will recommend it to our friends and family.

The only thing that was uncomfortable, was that the bathroom always got wet when it rained. Always needed to rush to put away the toilet paper and towels. Otherwise they were soaking wet.. I suggest you extend the roof another meter. Just to stop the rain from entering the bathroom.

The location just past the village and a short walk to an unbelievable beach is quite something in its own right. Then the swimming pool, rooms, food and excursions give you everything you could want for but the thing that makes this place really special is the staff. Getting to know you, making you feel at home and literally nothing is too much to ask, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others.
