The location is perfect, with the Porto Metro Station literally over the road, a Supermarket 100m away and an easy walk to the beach. The front of the building may be unassuming, but the quality of the facilities and finish inside is hotel standard, with a great courtyard garden to the rear. We were able to park in the Metro station car park, as advised. This gets very busy- but payable secure parking is also available behind the property. Our host Joana was very helpful during the stay, and resides at the rear of the property. Our room at the front was air conditioned, which meant we could comfortably keep the windows closed at night- as there is some road noise.

I loved everthing about this place! The owner and the woman who cleans the rooms were both wonderful. They were easy to contact and very kind. The room was the cleanest I have ever rented. The location was superb - right across the street from the metro station, with shops and restaurants all around.

The room was bright, very clean, with a lovely backyard garden area to sit in, and in a terrific location being across the road from the metro to Porto or the airport, with easy code access to the front door and our room door.

My only issue was the state of the kitchen, which we had access to. It’s well equipped but I am too old and did it for too many years to empty a sink of dirty dishes and clean up after other adults. There must be some long term residents because the dirty dishes were large casserole dishes. Frustrating.

This was my second visit to Povoa do Varzim so I wanted to stay in the Center City, near the train, not far from the ocean. The Guesthouse met all the criteria. Joana, the Guesthouse hostess, was incredibly responsive to my questions, including allowing me to store my backpack as I arrived hours before check-in. She told me about the supermarket 100 meters away where I could use machines to inexpensively wash my clothes, explained the posted wifi password, helped me with the door entry, and made sure any problem was addressed. I spent two very good days at the Guesthouse. As a bonus, the second woman responsible for cleaning the rooms was very pleasant to work with and was also very helpful. The room itself was spacious, modern, included a stocked fridge, and was very comfortable.

This place was so pleasant! One of my favorite places I've ever stayed! Lovely good sized room and bathroom, beautifully clean, with a kitchen and backyard you can use! Perfect location across from the metro so you can head to downtown old Porto. The neighborhood around the place is also lovely, old streets, an old fort, a beach, and close to groceries and cafes and restaurants! Truly loved this place!

I loved everything about O Povoa, a good location, with everything close by, metro, shops, cafes, I loved the room, very bright, comfortable bed, everything very clean, room service every day of the stay, much better than a 5 star hotel, I recommend it and I will return whenever I need it

So clean, modern, and pretty. Large bathroom, great shower, across the street from metro so I didn’t have to drag my bag around. Staff was very responsive, let me drop my bag early in the day before check-in.

One night there was a family next door and sound came through, but other nights had been super quiet so maybe they were just noisy.

O Poboa Guesthouse is an ideal choice for a place to stay while in Povoa de Varzim. It is located right in front of the train station and close to many shops and restaurants. Joana was an amazing host and was incredibly kind enough to bring my backpack that I had transported to the property into my room. The room and facilities were clean, spacious, and comfortable. You also have access to a kitchen and the grocery store is right next door. Check in and check out were efficient as was communication with Joana. Thank you Joana for a wonderful stay!

I really liked that you could use the central areas like the kitchen and the garden. The room was also nice and spacious.

Unfortunately, the room was quite noisy and you could easily hear your neighbours in the other room. Luckily it quiet in the hotel during the night.

Very comfortable place, in front of metro station and super quiet. Spacious room to accommodate a couple.

We struggled a bit with drying towels, a place to hang them or a heater would help with that.
