We loved our stay at Alam Shanti! We stayed in the Indus room which was beautiful with all the Balinese architecture. The veranda was beautiful and we saw monkeys every morning in the trees. The staff also kept the monkeys away while we ate our breakfast, so we didn’t have to worry about them. We enjoyed a great breakfast and afternoon tea and cake on the veranda. The staff made sure I had gluten free bread and cake in the afternoon, as I have Celiacs which was so appreciated! The staff were so kind, helpful and friendly. While the Ubud area is very busy, Alam Shanti is in a quiet location and felt like an oasis! We are so glad we stayed here!

Beautiful location, surrounded by nature. Nice spacious room and loved the large enclosed balcony and four post bed. Pool is gorgeous and loved watching the squirrels in the trees. Close to monkey forest and cool to see them along the path behind the shops.

This accommodation is stunning. The rooms are almost palatial in size, and the beauty of the architecture and artisan detail on everything was just gorgeous. The staff were lovely and so accommodating. My massage therapist Rhonny was fantastic. It felt almost like a family run affair with great attention to detail. The jungle felt right on out doorstep, and the beautiful gardens surrounding each house, were lovingly attended to. Only a 10-15 min walk through the monkey forest to town. Several small, but great little eateries only a few meters down either side of the road. We pre booked a free lift into town once or twice, but it was so much quicker to walk as the traffic in Ubud is now equal to that down in Seminyak and Canggu.

The only downsides (and they were only minor) was that there was no onsite restaurant; and no phone line (you had to use WhatsApp - which I don’t use) As my son was unwell for a few of our days there, it would have been handy if he could have ordered a meal whilst we were out.

Alam Shanti is such a thoughtfully designed property. The layout, the room size and decor is sublime. It was our third stay in the room Gangga and we were as happy as first 2 visits. The room is huge, lovely big outdoor balcony to enjoy the jungle and relax, the outdoor bathroom is very well put together and the whole lot is completed by beautiful traditional Balinese decorations. Also very happy about the refillable toiletries and water, so no plastic waste at all 👏👏👏👏👏 private pool is very large and lovely. Staff were all so friendly and helpful, very much what we love about Bali and it’s people. Can wholeheartedly recommend Alam Shanti. Out of the busy area enough to relax but a short walk if you want the shopping . There are enough restaurants on the Alam Shanti side of the monkey forest that you can stay and be satisfied. Surrounding area is very pretty with traditional architecture and village life.

The staff went above and beyond and were so friendly and personable. Always happy to have a chat and answer questions but also knew when to give you your space. We spent hours relaxing on our downstairs terrace and garden. Felt very private even though shared with room upstairs. We saw fire flies in the evening. Breakfast was delicious. Loved eating it on the terrace and that you could choose something different each day. Rooms clean and bed comfortable. Daily afternoon tea was a lovely touch. Fantastic location I wouldn’t stay in any other area in Ubud. Quiet, great restaurants. Real village vibe. Very spacious our toddler had the best time exploring.

It didn’t bother us but there were monkeys on the grounds and sometimes interrupted breakfast. Staff were very prompt at moving them on but if you’re scared of monkeys I wouldn’t stay here.

Really nice, very warm & welcoming staff. The rooms are in the middle of a precious tropical garden, which can be enjoyed from a private terrace. What I liked a lot were the flowers that they left in several spots of the room. The atmosphere is very intimate as you barely see other guests. The pool is a place where to relax and enjoy the nature. We stayed for quite a long time but still it was difficult to leave.

For people that stay more than a few days the menu for breakfast and lunch/dinner is getting to short because of lack of new choices.

You are basically in the jungle. Monkey forest was so close that we had roaming monkeys on our balcony :) The place is magnificent, so beautiful and peaceful. It’s luxurious and spacious. The hotel consists of 4 houses and 8 guest rooms in total. It felt private and in the same time the stuff cared for us without interrupting. This is one of the most unique hotels I have ever been in. Thank you for everything, Alam Shanti!!

I can’t think of anything we didn’t like. Maybe only the limited menu choice in the hotel’s restaurant but it is so tiny compared to all the beautiful things there that it seems insignificant.

Alam Shanti is perfect, set in beautiful gardens in the village of Nyuh Kuning, it is a peaceful escape from busy Ubud (which can be easily accessed by walking or taxi). The rooms are beautiful, and the staff are amazing, providing any help you need, and always so friendly. Breakfasts are varied and delicious and the swimming pool is stunning. They can organise massages, tours and transfers to and from the airport. Nyuh Kuning has some great restaurants and cafes and is a lovely area to wander around. Very close to Tradisi which is a wonderful shop for textiles and sarongs.

Breakfast was excellent and so was afternoon coffee with sweets. Which was free by the way. There is a shuttle bus which will take you almost anywhere in the city and pick you up again! And it's free! Ubud is noisy, but from this hotel you cannot hear any of it. The garden is like a botanical garden with ponds, and they have their own little rice field. Rooms are an experience in themselves. The design is gorgeous. Never saw anything like this. Staff is helpful at all times.

Nothing not to like, but there is perhaps an issue with the drinking water provided in the room. The container gets sunlight during the day and it had a strange taste and smell. I drank from it. My girlfriend did not. I now have serious stomach problems and she does not. I cannot say for sure that this water is the cause.
