The restaurants/bars on the property had decent drinks and food. Comfortable bed. Decent room. Just not crazy about being on the sub floor level 1. If I stay there again will be sure to request 2nd or 3rd floor.
Did not know we would be in the "basement" level. The noise level of what I assume to be wheeled garbage carts/ plastic totes of some sort along with the loud talking of those pushing said wheeled apparatus on the sidewalk directly outside our ground-level window up til 11 pm then again starting at 6 am was very irritating. The outdoor wait staff service at the Woodshop was pretty slow in getting us our drinks. Food came at a decent pace. But then we had to track them down to pay our tab. We simply wanted to move inside to play pool but waited over 30 minutes before finally going to look for anyone that would help us close out our bill. NO clue where our waiter disappeared to. Indoor service seemed to be more self service, go up to the bar and order yourself and pay as you go.

We like staying at the Anderson School because we can park the car and relax on-site. The hotel is quiet and the rooms are spacious. Check in and check out was easy.
The air conditioning in our room did not seem to work well. We ate at the Tavern and the food was only ok. When sitting outside on a nice day, there is utter confusion about what restaurant you are attending. This means your menu, the drink options (even the McMenamins beer options) and servers are different. This resulted in overall poor service.

The staff was absolutely amazing. We had asked for a first floor room near the outside door for our elderly dog and when we checked in, although we did get what we asked for, there were stairs in the room and more stairs to get outside. Once we explained our dog couldn't navigate stairs, they promptly switched us to a room that involved no stairs. I know they were pretty full that night, and really appreciated their willingness to accommodate our needs.
Lunch was good but very expensive.

We enjoyed our short stay. The grounds are very whimsical and nice. You get the feeling that you are in the woods, not near a city. Three restaurants were open while we were there and one of them continued to serve food until midnight, which worked well for us when we returned from a concert kind of late. The rooms are comfortable, clean and again, a bit whimsical.
Breakfast was good. However, someone thought it would be good idea to have very loud opera music playing. We couldn't hear each other talk. Also, most of the artwork is fun and whimsical but, some are a bit off-putting--like a creepy portraiture staring you down when you are trying to fall asleep. Interesting stories about the various inhabitants of the place, just maybe a different painting to illustrate some of the folks would be better for setting a comfortable mood in the room.

Staying at McMenamin’s for a night was comfortable, convenient, and gave my partner and I time to explore a couple of the bars and restaurants. There are a lot of amenities here and I could see myself going back and enjoying the experience differently.
There was nowhere to store our leftovers from dinner. It would have been nice to have a small refrigerator in our room which is usually standard for hotel rooms of that size and price range.

We ate at the Tavern for lunch and a beverage before heading out to a concert. The staff at the front desk, in the tavern, at our table (bussing, waiter) were all very personable and friendly. The food was yummy (a little expensive) and the drinks were delish. We loved our room and the funky atmosphere of the hallways and all the local history. They have done the McMenamin's name proud. We also feel like we were given attentive service when we had a small problem. I love the attention to detail with their toiletries and the fun set up of the rooms. We will be back.
Wish we could've stayed more than one night (not their fault) and that the restaurant was open just a tiny bit later. We wanted dessert but got back after 10. Again, this is not their fault. This was our personal schedule.

We did not have breakfast there but enjoyed the free morning coffee. We also enjoyed the whiskey tasting in the Shed when we arrived the first night. Had dinner & drinks in the Tiki Bar too. I loved that we did not need to leave the 'school grounds' the first night we arrived.
It smelled like an old school, and it was very dark in most places such as the hallways, rooms and taverns.

I loved that there were so many fun things to do on property. It was nice to be able to park and not worry about drinking and driving. The property details and decor are well-thought out and really cool. We had a ton of fun! I would definitely come back!
The bed could have been more comfortable for sure. We like to keep a cool room at night, especially when we've been drinking; the AC didn't cool as much as we needed (I think the lowest we could turn it was 67 or 68 and it didn't put out much air) and the windows don't open, unfortunately. The front desk brought a small fan, but it didn't do much.

We enjoyed touring the property. The art, history, gardens, and pool were engaging and interesting. An unexpected bonus! The bed was very comfortable. The restaurants were delicious. The room was clean and quiet. Ample parking.
Getting Ice was not convenient. I would have appreciated a mini fridge in our room.

The property was busy but nice. Hotel and restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. The room was unique, comfortable, and enjoyable. Quiet place to sleep and enjoyable coffee in the morning.
The mattress was a little uncomfortable for the price point. Plan to move your car once the property quiets down, or find the "hotel guest" parking in the SW corner of the parking lot.
