Cute little motel with a fun Americana theme: retro art, appliances (mini-fridge, phone, etc.), and nice Adirondack chairs outside every room! Solid assortment of pre-packaged snacks/pastries for breakfast. Friendly staff and free candy in the lobby! :)

I never quite got the hang of the check-in/out process -- I think it was supposed to be a drive-through situation, but I didn't realize that so had to buzz the front desk guy to let me into the lobby so I could check in. Coffee in the snack room was weak, but that's to be expected for a motel!

I liked everything about the hotel except the coffee availability. I wish there was a coffee pot in the rooms. A hair dryer would have been helpful too! I usually try to travel with one, but I was just staying overnight. Thanks also to your front desk lady. She was very efficient at getting me checked in. She was very nice and helped me to use my key. It was a little tricky.

Just lack of a coffee pot n the room. I got up early and had to wait for coffee.

I left a phone message along with a special request for a quiet room. I was disappointed that no one called back but when I arrived, the front desk agent had upgraded my room so that I could be away from the highway and no one was on either side of me! I was very happy about that as I'm a light sleeper.

The reviews stated that there was no breakfast. However, there was enough food and coffee in the room and in the snack area for me. The motel should explain that better. I wouldn't have gone to the trouble to pack breakfast and coffee if I had known that.

Excellent location in Salida. I make the trip to Salida several times yearly, and I generally stay in another motel. After the experience at American Classic, I will be staying here. It is cleaner than some 4 star hotels I have stayed at. The property is also impeccably clean. Yes, the room was small, but spotless. The decorations were adorable. Bed was nice, shower water hot, towels smelled good, and fluffy. Perfect!

The retro update was charming and fun. Owners had put a lot of thought into comfort, convenience and extra amenities like the mini fridge.

The room lacked a night stand per se, which is essential for my husband’s CPAP machine. Fortunately the room contained a cute little table and chairs, so we were able to move the table to accommodate.

The motel was upgraded nicely with modern furniture (with a classic motif) and a good refrigerator. There is a "snack room" where you can use a microwave, get coffee, hot water and breakfast snacks including yogurt, and get ice (in lieu of having a coffee pot or microwave in the room). I liked that. I never use a hotel coffeepot anyway, so it just gets in the way.

Staff is very kind, facilities super clean, modern and comfy! It was my girlfriend's first US road trip and I wanted her to experience an authentic American motel as it might have been back in the 50's but with modern amenities . This motel nailed it with proper decor, such as a modern 'throwback' minibar fridge styled to look like one from that era. I will definitely be coming back!

Rooms were clean & the decor was nice.

Playground was the reason we booked the room. Slide was so full of sap, it wasn’t usable. The benches were in need of painting- couldn’t sit on them. The staff was more worried about the people paying money reading their rules. It was sent to me 2 times prior to my arrival and then I had to stand & read & initial prior to checking in. What happened to taking care of the consumer?

This is in a good location right on the highway in Salida. Watch for the Volkswagen Beetle sticking out of the front of the office and you'll know you're there. This place is newly remodeled and really super cute. Everything is new and we enjoyed our stay. Walmart is just down the street. We were ready to re-stock a few things on our trip.

Not a lot of places to plug in. That's a problem in a lot of places. Breakfast is packaged goods. We needed sustenance for a long day of travel. That's common it seems.

The property was very clean and tidy. The room aesthetic was very nice and modern. The drive thru check-in was super convenient. We received a few informational texts from the property prior to arrival and that was a nice touch. The staff we came in contact with was very professional and nice. The property has been completely redone and you can tell it was a labor of love because they did a phenomenal job!!

The “snack room” hours were not that convenient seeing as that’s the only place there is a microwave. The water pressure at the bathroom sink was awful. Like it dribble out..
