Love how the guesthouse is tucked away from the traffic of the area it is situated in. The minute you drive in, it makes you feel like you are going on a country retreat. I loved the surroundings, being able to take a walk around the property and breathe fresh air. The rooms clean and are very spacious and loved how accommodating the guesthouse is, spent the night with 2 of my friends and they put an extra single bed in the room. The host, Elizabeth, had a warm welcoming spirit - showed us around and made us feel welcomed.

We checked in quite late and expressed to the host that we will want to have breakfast at 09:00. One of the staff ladies who works in the kitchen was quite dismissive towards us, almost reluctant to make us breakfast as she kept emphasizing that breakfast is from 06:00 - 09:00 and that we came late so everything is packed up. We had to reason with her, which honestly felt quite unfair. Nonetheless, she softened up and agreed to make us breakfast which was delicious. Also, the water pressure of the shower is quite low.

The rooms were very spacious and luxurious. It's really clean and neat and the bathrooms are very big compared to bigger hotel chains. It's really tucked away in nature and makes it feel like you are far away from everything and it's only a 30 minute drive from the south of Joburg. The breakfast menu is different then the conventional Irish English options you normally get but it's really tasty and very good and filling

The remotes of both the TV and dstv werent working but they did sort that out which took some time. There's no room service options for food and you have to order out for lunch and dinners

This property has the most beautiful garden, so tranquil and relaxing.The room was spacious and luxurious, shower was nice and big.Our room had a balcony and this was so relaxing to sit outside and just admire all the bird species in the garden, just amaizing.This do feel like your home away from home, and all the other guests were friendly and we all had lovely chats at breakfast outside with this view just captivating.Already booked our next stay.

communication between us and the staff was good, the property is located in an amazing area, and there is peace of mind. the rooms are clean and the view was amazing, we really enjoyed our time at Amberhall.

The tv signal was very bad on our first night, but we spoke with the staff the following day and it was sorted. Breakfast was not really good. the mini fridge was not working, I dint know if they are slow or what.

Amberhall guesthouse was our first stop on our African trip and what a great place to start. We arranged airport transfers with Jacky and she was fantastic. She put us at ease and was so friendly. The Amberhall guesthouse is located on beautiful grounds with stunning gardens and a lovely pool area. The owner Alex came to greet us and he was very helpful. He recommended a nice bar and where to have dinner. The breakfast was delicious and as we had to check out early to catch a flight Alex was up early with us and made sure we were fed before we checked out. The room was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. I wound highly recommend staying here and if I return to Johannesburg again I will definitely be staying here.

Spa staff didn't do treatments the full length of time indicated. Full 50 minute body scrub. She rubbed the exfoliate on then told me to shower in my room. End of treatment. The next day the next therapist did half an hour short on my massage. Had a fight with her. Owner refunded some money, not the point to fight for what you have paid for when you have paid for relaxation.

The facility is serene and beautiful, lovely people, had fun on the swing, and the property is absolutely amazing. I even forgot there's a thing called loadshedding since they have backup. Enjoyed their breakfast and the home cooked apple cake. Definitely making time to return.

I would give this place an 11 if I could.the hotel is set up in an old family home in a quiet area. the room was very large and comfortable with a bathroom that had a tub and shower. wifi was fast. I stayed here after taking the bus from Zimbabwe so I just wanted some rest. they have a small spa so I booked a special package with massage and facial. breakfast was delicious. for lunch and dinner i order uber eats.

location is not walking distance to anything really

Absolutely lovely room with a small terrace with seats & table overlooking the garden. Comfortable bed, well appointed bathroom and separate bath. Amazing staff (our thanks to Bettina) and delicious breakfast cooked just how we like. Hope to return!

The atmosphere of the entire place is just so tranquil and beautiful. Breakfast is fresh and scrumptious, love the fact that I feel like I am at home. Totally relaxed and comfortable.

You cannot improve perfection - every aspect of the stay is magnificent.
