I luurve Cindy at the Reception. The breath of fresh air. The lady receptionists on duty (during our stay) and of the breakfast staff are always welcoming and pleasant most importantly professional. The second time around and I am happy. Wish management can be welcoming too. Thanks for playing nice relaxing music during breakfast it helps to enjoy the atmosphere. ☺️☺️. The environment is generally friendly. And looking forward to our the visit next year same time. Big Up to Cindy though!

As a manager the least you can do is greet your guest. Smile it's good for the brand. The general staff members need that support. Carpert in the rooms have a damp smell.

It was wonderful to be back! This is my favourite hotel in Knysna! I love the location, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the view from our room, the delicious breakfast, more comfy beds this time around due to us booking a twin bedroom, which is what we should've done on previous occasions (I cannot share a bed with anyone due to health and arthritis problems). The outdoor heated pool is simply divine and it's a wonderful base from which to explore the Garden Route. We also especially appreciate the catering for our special dietary requirements! Everything was just lovely, except for the weather, but no one can be faulted for that! We will be back again in the last week of January 2024!

1. Due to the rotation of the cleaning staff, there is a miscommunication about the amount of extra towels that should remain in my room and we repeatedly had to phone reception to ask for housekeeping to bring the towels back. To be fair, everytime we phoned, my towels were promptly returned. 2. The outside corridor is not carpeted, which means that it's very noisy when other guests arrive and depart. I'm not sure whether management is able to place carpet on the first floor corridor outside the twin bedrooms? That would help a lot with the noise. Nevertheless, it's not enough of a disturbance to keep me from coming back to stay there!

The hotel is right next to the Knysna waterfront so it's an awesome view of the yachts and boats. From around April the tourists flock to Knysna as it's their Summer vacation so there's a nice vibe. Heated swimming pool was awesome. Breakfast was stunning with a wide variety to choose from. There was more than enough secure parking. We were greeted by a staff member who helped carry our luggage to our room and when we left they carried our luggage back to our car as well. The hotel is located very centrally to everything in Knysna so you can easily and freely move around.

The hotel only serves breakfast so you have to buy lunch and supper at restaurants or take aways places. Perhaps as a suggestion you can add a microwave to your rooms so we can warm food up. That's not a complaint, just a suggestion. There was nothing to complain about. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Location was great and the breakfast very good. I was there to participate in the Knysna half marathon and there was breakfast for the athletes at 5:00 - much appreciated. the room was well placed and nice and quite.

The negative aspects of the room are design issues - very little space to pack out toiletries and very little packing space for clothes. The toilet blocked twice during the 4 days!!! The toilet design is such that it does not flush properly. The handwash basin is very small and it was difficult for me to wash my hair - I don't want to take a shower when I wash my hair - it is a waste of water.

From the moment we arrived the staff were fantastic. The Porters, Reception Staff, Cleaning Staff and Dining staff were all wonderful. Everyone was friendly, professional and helpful, and everything was done with a smile. Due to numerous interaction with them, two staff in particular stood out for us, Ronaldo in the dining area and Lennox with house keeping. It was an absolute pleasure to interact with them both. Our room was great, and had an awesome view, and the location of the hotel could not have been more central or better for us in Knysna.

It was all great, and met or exceeded expectations.

We had lagoon facing rooms which I would definitely recommend, the upper floors if possible. The outside area had a lovely pool and seating area which was very relaxing. Walking out of the hotel you are right next to a number of restaurants and shops. The rooms themselves are very modern, spacious, and comfortable. We would recommend this hotel.

Breakfast was a shambles. Tables were cleared slowly and frequently we struggled to find a clean place to sit. Key components often ran out - three mornings the orange juice was non existent. Nobody seemed to care

We were met by a helpful doorman when we arrived who sorted out somewhere for us to park, and then carried our bags to our room. It was a nice return to the Protea at Knysna Quays, where we had stayed many years ago.

Our room was close to the ground floor room entrance doors, and inevitably there was some disturbance from coming and going outside our room doors.

Suitable location, close to the waterfront and the town. Enjoyed scrumptious breakfast which was enough for everyone. The room looked proper with comfortable beds and very clean linen.

It was expensive for us to go to the beach, I wish there was a shuttle service for guests to the beach. I asked for a late checkout as a frequent visitor to Protea hotel and a Prokard member for years though I still need to activate my membership for 2023. I was not granted a late checkout.
