It's a beautiful place to stay and very private. So it does feel very secure the moment that you entered the premise. Beautiful room with nice garden view.
Just 2 things. First - there were no lift and we have had 2 very heavy luggage, so it was not a fun moment. Secondly, as do as most places in South Korea, they're still on old plumbing system hence the situation of "do not flush the used toilet paper" remains there. Not something that I can get used to unfortunately but will respect the rules.

Bonum 1957 Hanok and Boutique is located in a great tourist spot, close to many small shops with interesting souvenirs, and traditional Korean scenes and houses prime for photo ops. It is an easy 15 minute walk away from the National Folk Museum and Gyeongbokgung Palace. The Gyeongbokgung palace offers free scheduled tours in multiple languages and is a must see! The room itself was spacious and well cleaned with a nice bathroom. We quite enjoyed having coffee on the balcony each morning. The shower was very nice, with both a moveable head and rainfall options. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Both the staff and area were quite language friendly for people that only speak english.
It was a bit surprising that toilet paper could not be flushed down the toilet due to old plumbing. Using the bidet takes some getting used to, but not an overall bad experience.

We stayed at the 2 bedroom hanok at this property. There is only one, the rest of the rooms are in a 2 story modern building. The hanok is very big, it has a large living room (a bit chilly), a bigger bedroom and a smaller bedroom with traditional floor bedding. The floors in the bedrooms were very warm. We loved the neighborhood and walked around for hours. It is pretty close to the Blue House (which we visited at 9am with no tickets and no lines), and it is also close to the Gyeongbokgung Palace. And the hotel itself is in the middle of Bukchon village. It is a 10 minute walk to the nearest metro, but there is a bus stop nearby. Also the Sulhwasoo flagship store is in the next block.
There is no breakfast, and the cafes in the area are pretty expensive. The hanok does not lock at all, the keycard you get is only for the outside gate. The staff however ensured us that it is totally fine and they are keeping an eye on the hanok.

I really like the location. Unlike Myeongdong or Hongdae, it's more residential area that at night is quiet. Just behind the hotel you can walk and enjoy the beauty of Bukchon Hanok Village. At first I was concerned that it is 10-min walk from metro station, but in reality you don't feel that far and the bus stop is right at the corner. The staff are helpful and can communicate well in English. I was concerned that I needed to check out early morning. They told me to just drop the card at the reception desk and that's it. I didn't experience any issue.
- During my 3-night stay, there is no room make-up. - There is no free bottled water and fridge in the room. - I could hear the noise from the room next to me.

Amazing location, right in the heart of the hanok village. Convenience store across the street, their own café in the street, with terrace on the premises of the property. The room itself had an amazing patio/porch-like on the ground floor, overlooking the inner courtyard. It all looked very traditional, yet all new and modern, and the room was incredibly comfortable. Dim, warm lighting, the heat was on all the time, mid October was quite chilly in that period. Big bathroom, with all the amenities. Bed very comfortable. Made all my stay in South Korea! The staff was quiet and helpful when needed.
All was perfect, but that toilet was needlessly high tech and complicated. Not their fault though, those toilets are all over the country.

Location was great. Room size was large and comfortable.
Hallway odor was unpleasant. The note in the bathroom said not to flush toilet paper. This is ridiculous. The notice stated that we needed to understand that his was a 60 year old facility. Well, that's not old. Toilets should still flush fine after 60 years. This seemed to be more of an excuse not to properly take care of a plumbing problem.

Great property, very atmospheric. The room was clean and spacious with floor to ceiling windows and balcony. Located in the middle of a pretty historic village with lots of cafes and shops around, and within walking distance to the royal palaces.
The corridor floors near check in desk were very dirty. No elevator. No restaurant, but there is a coffee shop right outside.

Beautiful suite and decor Quiet and removed from the hustle and bustle. History of the site and grounds. Hot shower and bathtub. Very modern fittings and luxurious.
A little too strict... e.g. would not allow early check in of 1 or 2 hours even when the room was empty. For the suite, the neighbours could see directly into the room if the curtains weren't drawn. The room was very modern and was more like living in a modern hotel.room rather thank a Hanok.

Staff was very helpful and kind. Reception lady let us borrow Korean adaptor and also helped us with laundry, luggage storing and taxi booking. Bathroom was well stocked and brightly lit. Loved the ambience with wooden interior and soft lighting. They also accommodated my request for extra fresh soft pillows.
Shower stall leaked a little along the doorway which we tried to block using bath mat.

Good location. Room was awesome. Toilet was well-fitted.
The normal rooms were in another more modern building, not a Hanok. Generally hotels in this area request that you don’t flush used toilet paper down the toilet and have to throw them into a bin to avoid clogging the pipes. First time experiencing something like this.
