It was very nice to stay at Gongsimga, which is located in Hanok village, where I walked around in the evening of the check-in day and the morning of the check-out day. It was great to see many Korean traditional style houses, many of which are mixed with modern buildings. I saw a few Japanese and Chinese restaurants in the village. It took me about 25min to walk to get to Gongsimga from Aladin second-hand bookstore, which is located near the Gyeongbokgung Palace. The Ondol room I stayed was a bit small for me, but very quiet and comfortable. It was air-conditioned. There was no bed but the Korean style mattress was quite comfortable. I had a good sleep there. The toilet and bathroom were combined in a quite small space, separated from the Ondol room. The breakfast was good as well. Fried eggs and Kimchi were prepared by the owner. I also had bananas, milk, coffee and apple juice. I toasted bread myself with a toaster. Of course, butter and cheese were available as well. Both the owner, a Korean man, and the receptionist, a Korean girl with very good English, were polite and kind. I hope to stay there again in the future. I wish them all the best and many thanks to them.

The room was a bit small for me.

STELLAR location and gorgeous hanok for an amazing value! Could not have found a better location. It's right across the street from Gyeongbeokgung Palace, and next to several cheap hanbok rentals, good restaurants, cute cafes, bus stops, and a beautiful little Buddhist temple that had a great lantern setup for Buddha's birthday. The host was almost always around when we were there, and explained everything very thoroughly even in English. He even provides some hanbok in the living room area to wear around inside the hanok! Breakfast was included and had a lot of simple selections of box drinks, toast, coffee, etc. There's space to keep large luggage outside under the porch step, including a luggage cover and brush, and we had enough room for our smaller bags in the room. My favorite area is the little elevated porch(?) in the middle of the garden area that you can sit on and have breakfast or just chill out.

It was hard to find a time to do laundry since quiet hours are between about ~9pm-9am, which is understandable because of the noise. But as tourists, we spent the whole day out from early morning until late evening. So plan accordingly. *Things to note for foreigners: The toilet, shower, and sink share a drain and bathroom area, which is normal for Korean homes even in the more modern ones. I love it because it's convenient, but my friend was surprised by the water coming out of the back of the sink; I think if you're not used to it, it can take getting used to. It's an old traditional hanok home and that's the charm! :)

Really great traditional experience! The host kept apologising that it is not comfortable but it was exactly what we expected, and even more considering the place had air-conditioning and private toilet. Host was polite and caring, ensuring we were safe and keeping the place clean. Location is right near gyeongbokgung palace and bukchon hanok village so it feels like you are living in heritage

It's a traditional guest house so expect lots of steps, the mattress was also too thin and soft such that you sink into the hard floor. Great for an experience when young but if older and looking for comfort, may not be a good idea.

Thank you to the owners of this charming hanok for their kindness and their very clear explanations on how the accommodation works. They are very reactive and proactive. It's a traditional type of accommodation which really has a lot of charm and which I found comfortable (even if it was winter, I was not cold at all and the bathroom had floor heating). The buffet breakfast is varied and available from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. (if memory serves :)). You can either grab it from a lovely shared kitchen or take it to your room on a “coffee table tray”. I had instant noodles, kimchi, bananas, instant noodles, sandwich bread with toppings available. Unlimited purified water, coffee and tea. I would like to highlight the cleanliness of the accommodation. My room and bathroom were very clean and had everything needed for a good stay. Towels are already provided in the bathroom, but if you need more fresh towels are available if needed. The guest house is located right next to the main royal palace, which makes it a very good location in Seoul. There is a possibility of having your luggage stored before check-in and after check-out. Really very convenient for visiting the heart of Seoul and having an experience of traditional Korean accommodation, I highly recommend it.

Nothing to mention :).

The location is perfect, it's right next to Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village - less than 5 minutes walk to both. It's a lovely traditional guesthouse and you get to experience what it's like to stay in that kind of environment. The futon was surprisingly comfortable, there were guidebooks in the room, and although the room was small it was absolutely fine for one guest. The breakfast was great, buffet style with: toast, eggs, jam, kimchi, fruit, juice/tea/coffee, ramen and rice. The staff were very friendly and have good English. They have lots of restaurant recommendations and tourist leaflets if you need them. I was also allowed to keep my bag there for a couple of hours after I checked out. I'd definitely stay here again, probably for 2-3 nights instead of just 1 - so that there's time to sit an enjoy the space even more.

I could hear noise from the other guests late in the evening, but this is because the walls are thin and it's didn't bother me so much as I am a deep sleeper.

The location is fantastic since we are visiting the area, the rusty look and the opportunity to stay at a traditional hanok lodging, it was quite an experience for the kids as well. The room is properly warmed up for guests even though it’s very cold outside. We would hope that the mattress could have been abit thicker. Host is responsive and helpful to your request

The yard could have been better organised and utilised to maximise the whole hanok experience for the guest. I’m sure the guest will appreciate the experience even more.

The accommodation is as clearly mentioned above traditional Korean hanok style, however we were pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it was. The position is excellent, and the place is very clean. The hosts were nice and even let us use the washing and drying machines.

The AC was quite loud even when set to night mode but it was impossible to sleep without it so we had some difficulty at the start.

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely little guesthouse. The property was comfortable and the breakfast was basic but good (including cup noodles, tea, coffee, cheese, kim chi and bananas). The only downside is that our bathroom was not an ensuite (ie not attached to the room), so we needed to walk across the small courtyard to access it. I'm not sure if this was unique to our room, or whether other rooms were set up as ensuites. Our booking paperwork suggested we had a private bathroom. Otherwise our host was friendly, tried to make sure we were as comfortable as possible, and was happy to provide recommendations for local activities. The location was also perfect, steps away from the palaces, Bukchon hanok village and main food/shopping areas.

cute little Hanok close to everything - sights, places of interest, restos, public transportation- in a quite area with 3 other double rooms in the Hanok. The restroom situation for the single room I had isnt problematic at all - its just 3 steps over the tiny yard. Sure, it could be cold during the winter season. I however pre-heated the bathroom with the living room heater. Just keep in mind: everything is smaller (room, bathroom) for Western standard as its a traditional house!

nothing.

first, I have to thanks host for being responsible and replied to every message I have sent! The host is very friendly, nice and helpful during my trip with my parents. My parents love the place as it is very nice and clean. We have a pleasant stay. How I wish I could stay for longer in the morning but too bad I have to check out early for my next trip =( Will definitely recommend my friends and others to stay to experience Hanok Guesthouse. And will definitely book it again if I come back Seoul!
