The room was really nice, and the bed really comfortable, I didn’t use any off the facilities in the hotel or had breakfast there, so I can only rate my time in the room, which was prefect, didn’t have any complaints and the staff were really friendly and always greeted me when I entered or left the hotel. Also a big bonus was I was able to leave my luggage there after check out, I’m not sure how long you can leave it as I only needed to leave it for an hour to get something to eat before I had to leave for the airport.

No complaints but just be aware the shower is built in a way that’s it’s in the bedroom and bathroom with no curtains just clear glass. While this might not be an issue for a couple if you’re two friends or sharing with a family member, your probably going to have to leave the room when they shower to give them privacy.

Great location, great facilities. Skybar in evening is a great vibe and the gym is amazing for a hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful.

For the price paid, the room wasn’t upto mark. There are flush sounds from nearby rooms due to poor acoustics. These noises were so bad that it would feel like someone entered the room in the middle of the night. Housekeeping could be a lot better. We had to ask the housekeeping staff multiple times to make our room even though we had the signs put up.

Francisco + the duty manager who's name I am sorry I forgot gave us a wonderful welcome when we arrived early from a Virgin Voyage and kindly upgraded us to speed up the allocation of a room and later delivered a bottle of cava which was unexpected and much appreciated. The pool bar + terrace is cool + a great cruising spot as is the bar on Sunday night with a marvelous Brasilian drag queen!

Location and staff

The Axel in general, specially the rooms and the pool area are looking rundown. The pool area used to be such a cool place to hang out, but now looks sad and old , and a little dirty, specially the pool and def the jacuzi.

As usual the front desk staff is always so nice and helpful, the skybar atmosphere was wonderful with a great mix of people, very compfy beds and some streets around the hotel are now for pedestrians only, which gives the neighborhood a wonderful urban feel.

I love the Axel brand, and I will always stay there when in Barcelona, but the wear and tear in the rooms are really starting to show ….

Central location, clean, professional staff and right in the centre of Exiample

The aircon wasnt working in our room, when the duty manager came to our room that night, he told us we would be moving in the morning to another room. To pack our things and wait at reception at 12 noon. However the next morning, after we had skipped the excursion we were going on to move rooms, we were told we have to wait for maintenance to see if they can fix it. And they did, quickly. It would have been better if they just said maintenance would come during the day and we could have enjoyed our morning the way we had planned is all

Ok. I have stayed at the Axel on Consell de Cent/Aribau many times. One area that has been vastly improved in the reburbishing over the years is soundproofing. I had hotel guests present on either side of my room, above or below, and I didn't hear a sound. Amazing. Nor did I hear much traffic noise from Carrer Aribau from my delightful little balcony. I enjoyed my dinner (with 10 percent hotel discount) at the fine.Asian/Peruvian restaurant on the ground floor. (Also part of room service.) My deluxe room was spotless, with ample sized bathroom and shower stall. The location on now pedestrianized Consell de Cent is a huge advantage as it is (for the most part) free of traffic and one can walk along this now delightful street with numerous cafés, restaurants and art galleries to Passeig de Gracia and beyond. Breakfast offers decent coffee, a rarity in many BCN hotels that use a self-service coffee maker machine. Eggs here however are not made to order, which was disappointing as the scrambled eggs were decidedly overcooked and rubbery. Adrien was a delight at check-in and César gracious at checkout. Oh and did I mention that straight guests are very much in evidence as the hotel seems to have broadened its appeal?

The water from the tap in the bathroom basin came out too fast. Needs to be controlled. A small annoyance. There is no CNN on the TV channels. The plugs that one uses to charge phones are too low.

Location is great. The upstairs bar area is a nice area to socialize and meet others if you are traveling alone or in small groups. There is an adequate gym onsite that I wasn't expecting but pleasantly surprised. The pool Is small but also adequate for getting some sun and taking a dip. Breakfast buffet onsite was very adequate for a moderate price.

The pool area was smaller than expected. The elevators are small and slow. The shower door leaks water out into the floor since the doors aren't flush with the floor. Overall though I really liked the experience at this hotel and would come back.

The location and the vibe in the hotel is amazing. We loved the rooftop terras with sun beds and amazing view over the city. The water pressure in the shower is great. On Suday we had a fun evening at the sky bar with a drag show.

The bed is old style en hard and you feel the steel frame and springs. They could fix that with a topper. The decor in the room is a bit dated and tired. The bar at the rooftop terras was only open from Friday to Sunday. From Monday on lot's of thirsty people sun bading but no bar open. Missed income for the hotel.

The atmosphere throughout the hotel is relaxed and inclusive, making it a perfect getaway for couples like us. Overall, Axel Hotel Barcelona provided us with a 5-star experience from start to finish. The friendly staff, with Joaquin leading the way, made our trip truly memorable. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Barcelona, especially those looking for a welcoming and luxurious LGBTQ+ friendly hotel. We’ll definitely be back!
