Location is great, walking distance from pretty much everything. The staff is very friendly and the rooms very clean. I would definitely recommend it

Rooms are quite small but enough for a weekend stay. The shower is see-through which might or not be an issue. The swimming pool is 40 cm deep which is not clear from the pics or the description. You can hear the underground noise during the night, otherwise it's nicely insulated.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Transport links were excellent although we were able to walk to most of the local attractions without too much trouble. All the staff in the hotel who we came into contact with during our stay were really helpful and the breakfast every day was second to none. We would certainly consider going back if we return to Barcelona in the future.

A minor quibble but when we booked our room it was described as a ‘superior’ room which we took to be something akin to a deluxe or similar. Turns out that a ‘superior’ room at the Occidental is actually a top floor room with a severely restricted view (‘restricted’ as in tiny windows with very little natural daylight coming through). We were thankfully offered an upgrade for an extra 12 euros per night and we ended up with a lovely room on the fifth floor with fantastic views of the main tree lined thoroughfare.

Lack of privacy in the room regarding bathroom layout. A curtain to separate the two areas would have been very good. For $500 per night it would have been nice to have decent coffee in the room (Nescafé 43 beans doesn’t quite cut it!!) Would have been good if the tv was set to have English subtitles every time we turned it on- I’m not very literate with the workings of technology. The iron didn’t work & the replacement didn’t come. (Not earth shattering but I don’t like to nag staff)

We loved nice welcoming stuff and cold cava for free. Nice touch was robes and slippers prepared in room. Room was clean but quite small what was expected as we booked cheapest option. We got upgraded because there was a small leaking water in shower from floor above us. They gave us bigger room with better view and even free breakfast. The leaking was unexpected but not that but to get that much from staff. So I was more than surprised about how professional they managed the situation. We did love to enjoy the pool on roof and drinks. Also the pool of course is not huge, and could be a bit cleaner (there was some napkin inside of it two days in row, but not the same one as first my husband pooled out )

Maybe the shower could have better options to turn it on- in first room the water came out quite good but in next room the water temperature was hard to get as warm as needed and it was quite small amount of water coming out. And of course the leaking ceiling in shower in first room was surprising as after we learned that they are avare of this situation and still not all the rooms has been fixed. But they did solve problem fast and all together it was fine.

I really loved this hotel. Not only was the general vibe cool, the staff were super friendly and helpful, the location great and our room was fantastic. As it was our anniversary, my partner and I upgraded to a junior suite and it did not disappoint. The shower and bed were incredible and the bath was huge! Both of us are shower people but the bath was so big and comfortable after a long day walking around Barcelona. Even though it was late November, we sat out on the Balcony every morning with a coffee, and in the evening with a drink. Ours was a city view and the sunset was particularly nice to enjoy from there.

There are extensive roadworks happening on the street directly in front of the hotel and they look set to be there for some time. I can only assume we were not informed of this by the hotel because the area immediately in front of the hotel wasn't being worked on (just blocked off for storage). However as we could see these from our balcony, it would have been nice to have received a courtesy email about them. The roadworks are totally not the hotel's issue and wouldn't prevent me from going back, but perhaps they could have communicated a bit better.

The location was great, walking distance from some main attractions, but not in the hustle and bustle of the loud nightlife. Nightlife areas very easily reachable still by either 20mins walk or a short & cheap taxi ride. Add on breakfast was really good, they have thought of everything someone might want in the morning. From the obvious stuff such as bacon/sausages or cereal, to Champagne or sweet treats. Well worth the upgrade. Staff were great and very helpful. Facilities are all great and look nice. Rooftop pool area was a great area too.

Only minor issue for me was that the pool bar didn’t serve until 5pm as it would really be a great spot to chill and have drinks in the sun during the day.

The location is great - very close to La Sagrada Familia and other sights in the area but not too close for noise levels, etc. The rooftop bar/lounge area in the late afternoon & evening is lovely, it's a small but good area to relax in. The room was comfortable, and the staff are all very friendly, polite and professional.

The bathroom area could be more privatized and it would be useful to have a bit more storage space for clothes.

we paid 209 euros for 1 night stay. we checked in early at around 10am’ish after we got off cruise. the front desk lady was super friendly and had a great smile. we got upgraded to a deluxe room with terrace overlooking the street, nice view. room has very high ceilings, lots of natural light when you open blinds. bed was large and comfy the breakfast had honeycomb which was a nice surprise. they also had iberian ham, fruits and a decent variety of cold+hot foods. location was near shopping streets+ sagrada familia. we would stay here again

The location was great - walking distance to major sight seeing locations and travel was easy. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good. Rooms were clean and tidy.

The bed was two single beds pushed together so there was a gap in the middle which wasn't super comfortable - I ended up sleeping on one side of the bed rather than in the middle. The layout of the room was unusual with the bathroom directly connected to the bedroom.

The view from our balcony was worth it all! The bed was comfortable and there was room enough to walk around and spread out comfortably. The rooftop bar and pool were absolutely lovely!

If you are sharing a room with someone, please note that there is no area for privacy - not even in the bathroom. The toilet and shower are very small little doored rooms. I shared this room with my teenage son, so this was a little challenge for us.
