This is a fabulous historical house dating from the 1600s. It was built for Juan Bautista Martinez de Mazo, student of Velazquez and later his son in law. (and possibly, artist of some Velazquez paintings?) It is perched on the edge of the River Júcar gorge. Our balcony has a magnificent view of the gorge, the parador of Cuenca & Gustaf Eiffel’s steel bridge (not for the faint-hearted!). It is centrally located, close to the Plaza Mayor, Cathedral, Casas Colgadas, museums etc. It is a very welcoming place. The rooms are comfortable & wonderfully evocative of the history of the house. The buffet breakfast was generous and located in a room with stunning views of the gorge. If you had no other reason for going to Cuenca, this house alone is worth the visit.

I was in Room 33 for 2 nights to see this old city. The room was spacious with a huge double bed and I had 2 balconies to myself! The hotel is in a very wonderfully converted old church building and is well placed near Plaza Mayor to see the main sights of the old city. For a short tourist visit it is ideal.

I would have preferred something hot for breakfast but there was certainly a good selection to choose from. The hotel restaurant was also closed for the 2 days I was there so I am not sure what is happening there....but the adjacent restaurant The Piola Gastrobar was an excellent restaurant for evening meals in the same building as the hotel next door.

The view from the bedroom was spectacular, especially at night when buildings were lit up. The property was very interesting in itself and well located for seeing everything in the town. Reception staff were friendly and helpful as were the cleaning staff.

The rooms being old (and we did ask for the mountain views) were a bit small so, as we were travelling with friends, somewhere to sit together in the evening would have been good. Thre was one area but this was obviously seen more as a passage to the restaurant and so there were not many seats.

Fantastic in all respects. Very centrally located in the old city, under 5 minutes walk to the Plaza Mayor and the Barrio del Castillo. Easy check-in, friendly and helpful staff. Large and comfortable rooms with incredible views over the gorge and towards the hanging houses. Immaculately clean throughout. Parking is always challenging in the old city but they have an agreement with a public car park on Calle San Pedro, a 3-4 minute walk from the hotel, so you can park for 24h for €17 and enter/leave as often as you like.

We didn't have the breakfast so can't comment. Otherwise everything was excellent.

A classic ancient building, well maintained in period style with modern facilities that did not spoil its essence or character. Great views from our room 22. Breakfast had lots of choice and a scenic view. Good for a few days stay to enjoy the historic village, or to stop for the night in transit. You cannot drive to this property, we parked in an underground car park, Aparcamiento de Mangana, height limit 2.1 meters, spaces are not that generous but I managed to get in and out with my Toyota Hilux 4x4 without too much difficulty. It's a reduced daily fee if you get your ticket stamped at the hotel. Only a few minutes walk, but up hill, no problem for my wife and I (60's) but could be for others. There is a similar car park nearer, same height limit. Parking Calle San Pedro, but narrow street access, though ok for your average car. Regardless of the parking this posada and the village are well worth it. Plenty of local restaurants with a wide variety of choice. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Venue clean and tidy, an antique itself with fascinating furnishings.

Almost everything! Absolutely wonderful room with a sitting area, bedroom, separate bathroom and best of all the MPS t stunning view from our private balcony. It overlooked the Casas Colgadas (and we were virtually one) and the beautiful mountain side, bridge and river bed down below. It was magical. Breakfast the next morning was quite good too and again the view made it all even better! Front desk staff so friendly and helpful. Loved it and highly recommend.

The bed was super hard…that is the only reason I didn’t give the Posada and perfect score. Otherwise they deserved it!

The location just above the Cathedral gave us an amazing view over the valley. We were blown away at our good fortune in booking this room. The hostal/hotel has lots of character with old beams, tiled floors and white plastered walls, which were fresh and clean. The staff were lovely, and very helpful. We ate dinner in the restaurant and had an exceptional experience.

Not a dislike, but a caveat for other travellers: Cuenca is a beautiful place but it is hilly with uneven surfaces, and the hotel has multiple levels so anyone with mobility issues may struggle.

The view was fabulous. The posada is very old and full of atmosphere; we loved the irregular walls and sloping floors and period features, like the quirky doors to the balcony. The room, 32, was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of chairs, tables and lamps. The shower rose and water pressure were good. There was no noise at night...no traffic. Buffet breakfast came with the fabulous view.

The mattress needed a good thick mattress protector: I could feel the bumps and it disturbed my sleep. The bathroom door was catching on the floor tiles, making a loud scrrech.

Location is perfect. Secure parking very close to hotel for I think €17:00 (Hotel deal at reception). Motorcycle public parking 50 or so metres down the road from reception. If unsure park at the public car park above the hotel and walk down and sort the parking out. Much more free public motorcycle parking than public car parking. Full Breakfast is about €10:00. They do coffee and toast for €4:00 Great views, works for me

The room had the most incredible balcony overlooking the gorge. My room had a large terrace, but the other rooms also had nice windows overlooking the gorge. Breakfast was wonderful. The staff was very helpful. They assisted me in storing my belongings on arrival so I could get started sightseeing right away, and they arranged my early morning taxi to the train station. The location in the old town was perfect. Close to everything!
