Executive double room - large size, very clean, super-comfortable bed, quiet with no street noise. Excellent room facilities (apart from only one coffee cup and one tea cup). Hotel location is ideal - 2 minutes walk to Retiro park, 5 minutes to nearest Metro station and plenty of good restaurants and bars nearby. Breakfast was in a lovely dining room, staff were terrific and the huge, varied buffet was high quality and very wide-ranging in content: ideal for all tastes.

Very minor - in our room was only one espresso cup and one tea/coffee cup, not ideal for two people who both want the same drink! But this is a very minor issue.

The hotel is in a good area surrounded by beautiful buildings and leafy streets. There are restaurants and shops nearby. Our room was very comfortable and was nicely furnished with a large, modern en suite. Breakfast was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the selection of fresh fruit but there was a huge choice and lots of staff on hand to serve coffee etc.

The only downside was building work nearby which was outwith the control of the hotel. The double glazing cut out much of the noise but it meant we didn’t use the balcony as much as we would have liked.

Beautiful old-world charm hotel. Similar to a Ritz Carlton boutique hotel, maybe even better. Nicer than being in American 5 star, you didn't have everyone holding out their hand for tips. Obviously, the staff get paid by the establishment. So much more relaxing for a holiday. You only pay once, then it's totally up to you if you tip. And they were worth tipping. It was wonderful not to be stressed if you didn't have euros or not and not be shamed. In the US, it almost spoils your holiday. The hotel was elegant and in the most gorgeous part of Madrid. Everything you need is within walking distance. A selection of restaurants both high end and mid range. The only Asian restaurants they have are Japanese. It was very refreshing that there were mainly European restaurants. And who doesn't like Japanese food... the club floor was worth every extra cent paid. Relaxing with 1st class snacks, drinks and sevice. Breakfast till 12 pm!! Now that's civilised. Considering you eat dinner at around 10 pm, plenty of time for a late relaxing breakfast. I would stay there again if they fixed the mattress situation. Spain is officially the best country in the world, and this hotel is stunning

I didn't rate it as highly as i would have liked too,, unfortunately the bed was way too hard for me. I left with such a sore back and very tired. It would have been perfect if they offered a memory foam mattress topper for guests that weren't used to traditional hard spring beds. That was my only dislike. If i was only staying for a couple of days, it wouldn't have been a problem. But 6 days was hard with little sleep

Loved the experience!!! Location is the best!!! C/Velazquez in the Salamanca section in the center of Madrid with easy access to Museums, shopping boutiques of Paseo de la Castellana and Serrano. The reception had great and knowledgeable people. Specially Manuel that help solve any needs and answer questions. From reservations to restaurants, appt. to hairdresser, hotel Mercedes van for airport. Room had great space- we had a Junior Suite with a great living space with desk area Bed was a very comfortable king with great large pillows. Breakfast was a buffet with all kinds of meats, cheeses, breads, fruits & sweets A variety of fresh juices Coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate brought to your table. Nacho was excellent serving us whatever we needed with a great attitude. Great restaurants on sight like Goizeko restaurant that offers gourmet Basque cuisine. There is an English bar great for Happy Hour. On the 7th floor, is the Wellington Club, a private lounge area for certain rooms and suites with a terrace and stunning views of the city, 60-inch flat-screen TV, and a snack bar with unlimited food and drinks. Vicente is always ready to serve you and strike a conversation It’s a great place to stay, but the best was the staff. All were incredibly attentive. Enjoyed our stay and miss them when we leave!!!

The hotel is terrific, we've stayed before and love the place. The Club Lounge is the best with a lovely roof terrace and views over Madrid. Breakfast is good and comparable with other 5* hotels. Its such a lovely hotel, welcoming staff and in such a great location. We love it here.

Unfortunately on this stay, the pool was under repair and not usable. I didn't see that this was publicised when I booked, so this was a disappointment.

The hotel is beautiful, clean and well staffed. The swimming pool is a nice size and nicely shaded in the late afternoon when Madrid is hot. The breakfast was delicious and we found all of the wait staff very friendly. The rooms are large and well equipped. Practical parking under the hotel with luggage service from the garage.

Well localed hotel on Velazquez Avenue, with a wide range of restaurants and shops nearby. Pleasant staff and comfortable standard room.

Hotel could have some benefits for long-standing / frequent clients: 1. better room rates, 2. a double discount on brunch ( for instance EUR 20.- off the price of Sunday Brunch). 3. Iron and ironing board in room Thank you.

Superb location, dog friendly and very secure parking. Staff in all departments, reception, bar, room service and garage are friendly, polite and all well trained.

Our bedroom had a very bad smell coming from the bathroom. We informed reception who attended immediately, agreed with our complaint and arranged to change our room to a floor below but the same problem in that room. We were then moved again . Disappointing after a long drive and dogs in tow. The next morning we were woken by drilling in the room next door !!!! I presume that we were unlucky. An old style formality which may not suit everyone.

It is impossible to beat the location visiting the high end Salamanca, Recoletos neighborhood of Madrid with east access to museums and Retiro park. And the 'hotel with a history' feeling…

It was unfortunate that we did not have any access to the U.S. news channels on TV and we already warned the hotel management. It is apparently a temporary problem.
