An amazing experience. A XVIth century palace, still owned by the original family, and run by a descendant of the family. The host was gracious and helpful. A highlight of our stay here was a conversation with him, when he explained the history of the house. Our room was huge with tall ceilings and XIX century furniture, paintings, and other furnishings. At the same time, the bathroom is modern and comfortable. The breakfast was great, and served in a beautiful dining room of the palace on the second floor. The location is outstanding: right in the center of the old town, but on a quiet side street (therefore, no noise at all). It is hard to find parking in an ancient city like Ubeda, but host referred us to a great free parking nearby, and we were able to leave our car there for the duration of the stay in this town. Finally, the price was very reasonable.

Nothing, really.

Hard to comment as this is not a usual hotel experience! It's a trip back in time to the late 1800s - like staying in a castle or similar! Yet you still obviously have the aircon wifi etc. Breakfast was fantastic. Free parking 100m away (yes, the car park is free) I think that particularly Americans would be blown away by staying in a place older than their country!

Only thing I can think of is that you do hear people walking past outside as the wooden windows are very old. I read this on a previous review and oddly the establishment claimed that it was double glazed - but my room certainly wasn't. But I stayed there on a Friday night (the noisiest night of the week in theory!) and it was still fine, as people walked past and talking but didn't linger. So any noises would just come and go, ,unless there is a street party or something or if you go in high season? Bring earplugs just in case? But really the experience generally was so amazing I don't want to quote any negatives.

Pepe, the host, greeted us upon arrival, and showed us around his historic home. This is a perfect place to stay for those who appreciate historic places, and want to be put into a 17th century home built by Pepe's family. The furnishings are antiques which his family purchased over time. Everything feels like you are living and experiencing life long ago as soon as you enter the courtyard beyond the front door. Our friends who joined us on the trip admired the furnishings and feel of Pepe's home, and were treated to a tour of the rooms by him. He showed the family chapel, dining room, sitting room, and photos of his family from the 1800s to the year 2000. There is also a family chapel in the home, where some family weddings were held in the past. Just outside the home, it is a short walk to the historic section of Ubeda. Breakfast was top notch, with traditional sliced meets, sausage, cheese, and breads, along with fresh orange juice, coffee, yogurt and cereals. It was a great way to start our day in Ubeda and Baeza. The bathrooms have been updated within the last year or two, and are the only touch that is not from the past. They are totally up to date.

There was nothing we did not like, since we wanted and got a step back in time.

The location is excellent. A few minutes from the historic centre. There is also a car park close by but we used the covered parking in Plaza de Andalucia. The building is a beautiful historic home. Renovated with care to retain its authenticity. Pepe was very welcoming and on handing us our keys he told us we were home for the duration of our stay. Our room was a lovely double on the ground floor. The bed was comfortable and there was ample hanging space. It was incredibly quiet although there are bars just around the corner. Wifi was excellent. Breakfast was served in an elegant room. There was everything you’d expect - toast, cheese, ham, a variety of different sweet cakes, fruit and cereals. Pepe made me a decaffeinated coffee in a machine after I declined the coffee. Everything would have been replenished if we had room for more! Altogether an elegant and memorable stay.

The safe in the room didn’t work. The shower takes quite some time to get hot. A little note to put your mind at rest that hot water is on it’s way would be helpful. There is a coffee machine in the garden but we didn’t use it.

It was a great experience having the opportunity to stay at the hotel. It is the family home of Pepe, who runs the hotel. It’s amazing to see all of the original furnishings and decor that have been preserved over the years. We really enjoyed hearing from Pepe about the history of his home and family.

Because this is a historic home, you will lose a little bit of the modern comforts or amenities you might have in a luxury hotel. However, we were plenty cool with the a/c and if you’re interested in staying in a unique place, this is a great choice.

A large palatial family home with modern en-suite facilities. Excellent position in this beautiful small city. Parking is free in St Clara Plaza. Best to park there before checking in. The owner speaks fluent English and is very helpful recommending places to eat. Large breakfast served in an upstairs dining room.

Everything about the hotel was wonderful. The owner was extremely friendly and interesting and obviously was justifiably proud of his family home. Although not a big hotel, the rooms were large and full of fascinating objects which the family have collected over the years. Our delicious continental breakfast was served in a large salon upstairs. Our bedroom was spacious, with a large en suite. The hotel itself was perfectly situated for visiting the interesting buildings in the old part of the town.

Nothing.

The hotel is an old very big family building from the 19th century in the old town area. The room I had was big w high ceiling and old furniture (in good condition). Very cosy. What was new, was the big clean bathroom and WiFi (could be faster though). Massive stone stairs led to the beautiful 1st floor breakfast room and cafe con leche, zumo de naranha natural, omelette, jamon serrano etc. Had a nice chat in english w the owner.

Nothing really.

It felt like a privilege to stay in such a lovely old building. Our bedroom had high a ceiling and some nice old furniture. Our host was very welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was served in a lovely room upstairs and was excellent, everything was good quality and there was a good variety. We parked in the underground car park, Aparcamientos Úbeda, which cost 13 euro for 24 hours. The hotel is ideally situated to explore the old town. We enjoyed our stay.
