It’s a boutique property. The Owners, Nuwan and Dinisha are a fabulous couple who personally manage everything and ensure your comfort. Beds are comfortable and rooms are large and clean. For me it matters a lot. Location is apt. Beach is across the river. It’s a Home Away from Home. That’s my take! Our first visit to Sri-L and we have some lovely memories of this place. Do ask Nuwan, owner, for a fishing rod, we got good catch and cooked it fresh!

Wi-fi is very poor, overall here, as were told , despite router in the room. You have to buy a local SIM for better access.

Absolutely gorgeous stay here, great location, Nuwan and his wife Dinesh were the best hosts, really helpful and kind and had everything you needed. My husband loves to fish and so does Nuwan so husband was able to fish off the decking, kids loved the pool and our room was brilliant, really spacious with smart TV and super comfy beds. The breakfast here was excellent, loads of it and fresh. We are definitely coming back here and highly recommend especially if travelling with kids. Thanks for looking after us so well

We loved everything about amber house

As a family-run property, their hospitality truly made a difference in my trip. From the warm welcome upon arrival to the impeccable service throughout my stay, every moment felt like home away from home. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the exceptional food prepared at their restaurant. Each dish was a delightful blend of flavors, showcasing the local cuisine with a touch of family tradition. Dining with them was not just a meal but an experience to cherish. Moreover, I deeply appreciate their assistance in organizing activities around the area. The boat ride they arranged was a highlight of my trip, allowing me to explore the stunning surroundings and soak in the natural beauty of the region..

There is nothing I didn't like to mention. It was a fabulous experience for us. We enjoyed the comfortable beds and the spacious rooms.

I'm really demanding person but I was fascinated about this place! Let's Start with location. It's situated about 10 minuts by foot from Aluthgama railway station. It's very convenient when you trevel by train like we. You shouldn't worry about noise because this hotel is on a quiet street near the river. For people who is really in nightlife there are no bars, cafes and parties around this place. Instead of this you can enjoy amazing sunsets and try water activities on the river or fly on a glider over the beach. The hotel is separated from the beach by a river so they give you a free ride to the beach by boat. The beach is sandy, wide and almost deserted. There are no cafes but I saw several sunbeds so probably it could be rented. The coast is quite flat and the ocean depth is shallow, so the place is suitable for children Guest house is pretty small (about 5-6 rooms) and doesn't have a garden where people can walk but we didn't suffer about it. Amazing and welcoming family run it. They helped us with all questions but were not intrusive. We took a river safari excursion from them and did not regret it. We saw monitor lizards, endemic monkeys, small crocodiles, bats and birds. All the time we ate only in this hotel. They provide very tasty and filling breakfasts. We were served scrambled eggs in different forms (scramble, omelet, etc.), yogurt, fruit, toast, butter and jam, juice, tea or coffee. Besides they have a wide selection of dishes in menu including grilld meet( chiken, beef, porc), sea food, noodles, rice etc. All was available and has affordable price. We stayed in family room on the first floor. It is spacious, bright, extremely clean and fully matches with photo and description. Definitely recommend this hotel and say a huge thank you to this family!

All was perfect!

Great room with a nice balcony with river view, good airco, nice shower, good bed. Friendly owner who offers a free transport to the other side of the lake, where you have access to the beautiful Ventura beach. This beach is easily one of the best beaches we have seen in Sri Lanka: unspoiled, tranquil, very nice zand, cute waves... just incredible! Make sure you get there to enjoy this still widely unknown hidden gem.

We wish we could have stayed longer at this amazing location!!! We ended up in Bentota as it lies between Mirissa and Negombo to split up the journey, so we were really surprised that we found this incredible beach there.

Ample space with lounge area, 2 comfortable beds and a long balcony. Also, spotless with great decoration and crisp bedsheets. 2 AC units, Staff and owners were very helpful. Modern bathroom with shower cubicle and a jacuzzi bathtub. Very clean. A decent new swimming pool. Cooked us delicious dinner which we loved. Hotel overlooking a beautiful river where we watched speed boating, jet skiing and other rides. We also went on boat safari. Stunning views. Very near to Aluthgama Bus Station. We love it. Will go back.

It is a three story building and there is no lift, but we stayed on the second floor and we managed to climb. Wider stairs with proper hand rail.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the wonderful family-run hotel Amber House Lanka, and I can’t recommend it enough! Nuwan and his family went above and beyond to ensure our trip was memorable. They provided amazing breakfasts each morning and offered invaluable advice on local attractions and hidden gems. Their warm hospitality made our experience seamless and enjoyable. We are super grateful for everything you did for us during our stay and making our trip so special! If you’re exploring Sri Lanka, this is the place to stay!

Great hospitality. Location is good, facing the water, in a quiet area close to the main street. Wonderful breakfast, with fruit, yogurt, eggs, bread, juice and coffee/ tea. We also had dinner there one of the nights - great fried noodles; best dinner in Sri Lanka. The host is very welcoming, and helps out with whatever you need, from water sport to excursions and renting a scooter.

WiFi was far from great unfortunately - everything else was above expectations

Very good breakfast. We had Sri Lankan breakfast one day and english breakfast on the other two days. We had dinner for two nights. Whatever we asked they prepared for us. No hesitation. IMPRESSIVE We were very well looked after by the owner, his wife and the members of staff. Everyone was polite, well mannered and respectful. They provided everything we asked with positive attitude. Everyone had their smiles in their face. They treated us as if we are part of their family. We would love to stay there again in the near future. Bright room with quality and clean furniture.We had the big bedroom area, big living room area, balcony area and big bathroom. All were very clean. I am sure everyone would feel the same. Nothing to complain. Excellent. There is no other word.

I have been visiting Bentota area for more than fifteen years. Stayed in different hotels. I cannot say that I don't like anything in this hotel.

This place is truly like no other - simply amazing! We don’t even know where to begin with the praise we have for the owner, his family, and his helping hand, Manou. The apartment was incredibly clean and bright, and feels like home. We enjoyed some lovely shakes, drinks, and awesome sunsets on the spacious balcony! But besides the rooms, the family running the hotel and Manou are what makes the real difference. Already before our arrival, the owner provided us with tips on how to get there and offered to pick us up from the station - all while casually speaking our native language (German). Since the first day, we sat together during dinner and lunch with the family - but you can also sit alone on the beautiful porch at the river if you prefer. We enjoyed it so much to learn about the local cuisine from them. It felt like we got a personal cooking class! The food we were served by the owner‘s lovely wife was always freshly made, tasted amazing, and they went through real effort to provide a truly Sri Lankan culinary experience - and they are also incredibly generous! Everyday, the owner checked in with us to help us make the best out of our short stay in Aluthgama / Bentota. He arranged an incredibly fair priced Mangrove tour with a local guide, and taught us how to avoid tourist traps in the city. Even on the last day, the owner supported us with arranging the next steps of our trip (sometimes buying train tickets can be confusing) and dropped us off at the train station - that is so kind and made it so much easier for us! Especially during the day, when the owner and their family were busy, Manou went above and beyond to ensure we are comfortable. For example, we asked for something that they didn’t have in stock and without telling us (because we would’ve stopped him) he went to the city and came back 5 minutes later with the item. This just shows the generosity and kindness we experienced here every day.
