The location was excellent, located on the boarder of the safari park. The staff were very attentive and friendly. They took us out on the lake for an extra 2,000 Sri Lankan rupees which we thoroughly enjoyed. They also dropped us off in the centre so we could have a look around on one of our days there, as there’s not too much to do in the grounds itself. The bed was a bit uncomfortable and there were quite a few ants in the property. But the room did feel luxurious considering we were pretty much staying in the middle of nowhere! The food is vegetarian only and no alcohol is served on site, which was okay as we were aware of this prior to turning up. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this to anyone who wants to be in the middle of nature. We came away feeling very relaxed.

We stayed two nights, my wife and I. The two brothers who own wadula, picked us up exactly as promised on time, and were so attentive to all our needs. We had not booked the safari but they got that sorted and the safari itself was wonderful. The driver Malinda was extremely knowledgeable on the animals explaining to us via my wife sitting in the front about them. He did everything possible to locate every animal including the elephant and the elusive leopard. Everything you need is on site and you can relax knowing that your every request will be immediately and fully done. The cabin is perfect with good Airc on and very comfortable It is nice to wander to the lake only 30 Mt's away and alongside it in the morning and evening. You can even go out in a kayak with a member of staff. I saw eagles and peacocks and loads of birds on my morning trip. Beau tiful Go there. Nowhere better Frank
It all ended too soon

It's like a safari - in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by wild animals. Magical at night and at day. Not possible to reach by normal cars, but the staff kindly picks up on the main road by a 4x4 Toyota Hilux and drives about 15 minutes to the bungalow free of charge. The staff was very kind and helpful, prepared a nice dinner and breakfast for us. Free wiifi available at the restaurant. Our family with kids would be very happy to come again
Slightly more cleaning (e.g. washing the curtains) and maintanance in the bathroom would help. The location shown here in booking.com is not correct, google maps show the right one.

Remote location in the middle of the jungle, rooms are separate little houses linked by forest paths. Loved being surrounded by all the nature, vegetarian dinner was delicious.
Not related to the accommodation but the safari we booked through them could have been better. We didn't have a guide to explain what we were seeing. We had a guide who was a park ranger but they sat in the cab with the driver and appeared to speak little English. However looking at all the other tours none seemed to have guides in the back with passengers so perhaps this is a Yala park rule. The elephant Safari we did in Sigiriya came with a guide who sat with us and explained what we were seeing which added to the experience.

Everything was wonderful, staff so helpful and friendly, took us on a walk , picked us up and dropped us off in town (it’s the small things which make the journey easier) food great! Being in the jungle great.
Unfort it rained so had to eat dinner on the balcony - new dining area currently being built. Part of the appeal for us was sitting evenings in the candle light eating area. The safari guide we didn’t rate so highly, his English wasn’t very good & didn’t really tell us a lot. For that price we did have certain expectations- esp coming from Africa where you know what you get for a similar price.

We enjoyed our stay at Chamith’s hotel. He owns the place with his brother and they’ve had a really hard go at it since covid. You can now really tell they’re doing their absolute best to give you an amazing experience. The bungalows are new, clean, large and have everything you need. The owners prepared us food for the evenings and even packed us breakfast for our very early safari (very tasty!). All in all, if you like wildlife and nature, don’t think twice before coming here! Thank you Chamith.
The only negative would be the very very hard bed (and we usually prefer harder beds). Kinda felt like sleeping on the floor. The bungalows are located in the middle of swamps - my frog-phobic girlfriend hated it, but it’s really because she’s from the city, so barely a negative.

We spent 3 nights at Wadula, 1 full day safari and one afternoon safari. Family of 4, kids aged 11 and 8. The safari lodges are on Temple grounds so you’re in a very special place. You can’t purchase alcohol here or in the surrounding temple grounds, but there’s a place not too far where you can; all you need to do is ask. They might even drive you there. Cash is king here - rupees not dollars or cards. There’s a local cash point in town. The lodges literally border the safari park as we noticed on our drive from the pick up point. We travelled 4 hours down from Pasikudah. The pickup point for Wadula is by the temple; the taxi wouldn’t be able to cope with the rough terrain, I shared my location from my phone and the pick up was seamless and perfectly organised. The accommodation is very comfortable with everything you need, colour tv :), AC, etc. I’ve never slept so well! There’s no wifi but very good 4g coverage. I purchased a Sri Lankan SIM card with a little help from our taxi driver when we first landed - he used his ID to get it for us, it’s at their discretion. The lake is beautiful to see and they organised a little sunset walk. The food was DELICIOUS. We enjoyed every single mouthful. You are in the middle of the jungle with a lake full of crocodiles so you can understand why they don’t want you walking around in the dark on your own. We left it to Wadula to organise our safari’l trips. And wow, did they deliver. Our driver was very experienced and the spotter who rode with us was one of the park rangers. As the lodges are close to the entrance we were the first into the park. We saw everything we wanted to see. Pick up was from our lodge and they prepared us lunch, snacks, fruit and drinks. They really did spoil us.

Great location in a bushy setting- we saw crocodiles, black faced languar monkeys, peacocks, toucans and a host of other birds around our accommodation The rooms were rustic outside and polished inside The food was excellent The aircon was good and needed Our hosts (two brothers) were excellent- they organised our safari, onward transfer and all our food. They went out of their way to make sure that we were happy at all times I chose this location so we could enter Yala from the quieter, Kataragama entrance and this worked well for us
The bed is a little bit too firm

Where do I start? Staying at the Wadula in an exoerience, not just a stay at a hotel! The accommodation is situated in the middle of nature. This is why you're escorted by one of the brothers that own the hotel from the main road because otherwise you'd probably get lost. Think nature, think a jungle-like experience! If you're a nature lover such as myself you will love this place! The owners, Dulaj and Chamith, are the best hosts you could possibly imagine. Welcoming, all smiles, and extremely helpful. They can arrange a host of things such as transportation, packed lunches and, of course safaris in neighbouring (literally 50 metres away) Yala National Park. The safari, arranged by the brothers, comes highly recommended! We did the full day safari. Very good packed breakfast, yummy lunch and to top it all off we saw elephants and yes, the ever elusive panther! Go for it! Ask Dulaj or Chamith to arrange the safari for you! They know the best guides! As for the accommodation: you will stay in your own private beautiful bungalow. It has all the amenities such as flatscreen TV, WiFi, aircon, coffee /tea, and in the bathroom apart from shampoo, even conditioner, toothpaste etc etc. Wonderful! Each balcony has a veranda with a gorgeous view over the lake. A perfect place to relax in the evenings! If you love nature and if you love a quiet peaceful place, look no further and book the Wadula!
Everything was perfect!

Wadula Safari was amazing. We were greeted by the friendliest staff, taken for a walk around the jungle (where we saw monkeys, all kinds of birds, and lizards), and then served a delicious dinner. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable with amenities like coffee, tea, powerful AC and a modern bathroom. They also arranged a wonderful safari with a guide, and helped us speak with and find our taxi driver.
