We had a wonderful stay at the Scottish Planter Bungalow. The experience was truly memorable, and we enjoyed every moment of it. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the roasted pumpkin soup and the fresh salad at dinner. A special mention to Mr. Thennakoon and Mohan, who were incredibly kind and helpful, ensuring we had a great experience. Their service was excellent. Our room was cozy, and we particularly loved the herbal shower gel made of cinnamon—it had a delightful fragrance. One of the highlights of our stay was the 3km outdoor walk through the tea plantations before breakfast. The scenery was breathtaking, and it made the breakfast even more enjoyable.

However, there were two minor issues we encountered. The Jacuzzi was out of order despite being advertised as available for complimentary use, though we did get to use the sauna. Additionally, we had booked a Farquharson room with one double bed but were given a Macnaughton room with two single beds. While the staff arranged them together, it was not the exact setup we had initially booked. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would love to return. Thank you for the great hospitality!

It was unfortunate that for the two days we were staying we had poor weather, thick fog, pouring rain and thunderstorms. It did however make it very atmospheric. This is a beautiful heritage property with just a few rooms. It is still in a tea plantation surrounded by a lovely lush garden. The dining room and lounge keep their older world character in full. Our room was spacious, comfortable and quiet with views over the tea. The chef prepared delicious food for breakfast and dinner. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, helpful and friendly and made our stay very special. I would definitely recommend staying here if you want a quiet place outside Nuwara Eliya.

It would have been nice to have a kettle in the room to make a drink early morning. A few more electric sockets in the room would be really helpful. The shower in our room looked like it needed replacing.

The place gives an amazing experience — you literally feel as if you were a guest on a tea plantation in the beginning of the 20th century. The staff couldn’t be more helpful — even during the rain the manager took us for a nice walk along the plantation and told a lot about the tea making and the life in the area. The room was very stylish, the food was great and nicely served. Even though the place is a bit far, the team organised a driver who brought us to the station for a very early train Despite the age of the house which has a long history, there is everything you may need. And the house and plantation history itself is one of biggest part of experience

It is a bit far from the old town, but it is not a problem at all if you understood that beforehand and planned to explore the town before or after stay in the property

I was prepared for this place to be good and a step up in terms of luxury compared to my other accommodation on the Pekoe Trail but my expectations were, in fact, exceeded. Manu is the property manager and he went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and all of my needs met. For a young gentleman he has a lot of hospitality experience and manages the property with professionalism and charm. Chef Bandula - what can I say? His meals were better than I would expect from a 5 star establishment. Everything cooked to perfection and presented to a high standard. An evening meal in the restaurant in front of a blazing fire was a highlight. Morgan, who provided general assistance, was always at hand and seemed like part of the furniture (in a good, traditional way). Duminda who worked as a butler was also attentive and professional and I am sure has a good career in F&B ahead of him. If you are doing the pekoe trail and have been kind of roughing it for a few days then this is a good place to recuperate, get some washing done and prepare yourself for more walking. It is quite away from the end point of Trail 20 and start point of 21 but it was easy enough to get a 3-wheeler from Uda Pussellawa - if you call Manu, he can also support with this. The 3-wheeler charged $14 for the 20km trip which was reasonable. All in all an excellent place to stay, I highly recommend it.

In terms of the property and service there is nothing to criticise. Due to the rains, some of the road leading to the property has become quite rough, so the ascent is quite bumpy - don't attempt it in a Prius! I took a 3-wheeler and the driver needed to be quite skilled to get to the top. Manu says the road will be re-sanded in January.

The whole experience was amazing. From the moment we arrived, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were welcomed with a refreshing freshly made drink and flowers. The food was made from fresh local ingredients most of the coming from their own kitchen garden. Staff were very helpful in helping us find the location as it is secluded and away from the main town which makes it very pleasant and relaxing location. We woke up to an amazing view and natural atmosphere. There are not many restaurants around but the food made my the chef at the bungalow was very delicious.

I wish I could give more than 10 for rating as we enjoyed everything about it. It is a perfect stay for those looking for a calm and quiet place away from the city and chaos.

1) The location was absolutely enchanting, nestled within large tea plantation area and surrounded by beautiful old trees. 2) Serene, scenic and soulful environment with only sounds of birds chirping and the mild breeze 3) Manusanka, the manager of this bungalow along with his team (Thennakoon, Morgan and Duminda) provided us with personalised attention and did everything to make us comfortable and enjoy our stay 4) Food was divine. A special mention of the Chefs Bandula and his team - Oshan and Lahiru who cooked the most delicious food I have had in Sri Lanka including in any five star hotels. Their mushroom soup, hoppers and walatapam were out of this world! 5) Toiletries were good quality and there was running warm water throughout 6) The property and the lawns are well maintained 7) It was like home away from home

Very unique property, in the middle of a tea plantation. Everything was exceptional - the setting, the room, the delicious meals we were served, and the staff, who were really accommodating. We booked three rooms, which made the property literally just for us to enjoy. It was, indeed, a very unique experience.

No negatives - the only note is the last 1.2 km to access the property, which are a bit bumpy. No big deal, in any case, as any ordinary vehicle should make it.

This property is in the middle of tea estate. Food is awesome and they cook wit care and love. Very safe for solo traveller. One of my best stays. Property staff is excellent, Manu the property manager will make sure to give you direction before you arrive. He also made sure to take me for a small trek and showed the near by places. I truly felt cared and well taken care of.

Amazing space. Beautifully appointed. Felt very regal. Top quality food. Superb staff. Nothing was too much trouble and very accommodating. hot water given to me for the night and fresh coffee delivered at 5am. Can’t recommend it enough. Have stayed in many bungalows this one was pure class !!

Road to the property is of poor quality if you have a hire car just be aware. But passable
