fantastic colonial hotel with lots of English traditions. ground were immaculate and service was very good. the room was comfortable and it was lovely to find a chocolate birthday cake for my mums celebrations. the Thai restaurant was delicious - would recommend for an evening meal. breakfast buffet had plenty of choice.

the spa was a huge disappointment. despite the signs saying silence and to expect a “tranquil” experience - we found children playing fighting and screaming in the pool which made it far from relaxing. we were unable to use the pool for this reason which was a shame.

Beautiful traditional building with the best High Tea ever! The gardens where amazing! Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. No request was too difficult. Very patient. Bar staff were EXCELLENT at making cocktails. Great prices for cocktails. Excellent local tours including an unexpected impromptu guided tour around the township where unexpected hidden jewels were found.

The water pressure in the shower was poor and we couldn't get any hot water for a shower so we were very uncomfortable and extremely quick showers.

this hotel is must see if you are travelling in Nuwara-Eliya. Heritage building with a great history, beautifull interiors, old photos in holls, hidden bar rooms etc... we spent couple of hours to explore the hotel. Stuff is very friendly and one of manager even made a small excursion for us while we were waiting. Welcome hot soup was what we needed cz at night is quite chilly outside. The restaurant was pretty delisious and our servant Antony made our dinner even better.

you need to pay for cappucino at the breakfast :) the quality of bath gel, shampoo ets. could be better for 5 star hotel the dressing room in a swimming pool/gym area needs floor rugs, the floor is very cold even if you wear hotel slippers

The hotel facilities are very nice. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms very nice and clean. Location of hotel was convenient. The food quality and selection in general was high.

Shower pressure is very low. Wifi keeps disconnecting (annoying). Service level at restaurants is inconsistent, some staff are quite inexperienced and untrained (but friendly). The gym could use a few more basic equipment, barbell, and lower weights. The food in indian restaurant was disappointing, all preheated and for us below average, although the restaurant seemed to be extremely popular w foreigners.

This is a magnificent heritage hotel. The interior was superb, lots of helpful staff. We enjoyed sitting near the wooden fireplace. There was a live music every evening, which was nice to hear. However, it’s an old hotel, so better ask for a quiet room in advance. Good heater in the room, as well as a bath with hot water, so don’t worry about freezing:) Great location in the center of Nuwara Eliya near the Queen Victoria park. Free parking available. We enjoyed playing snooker, which is located near the heritage bar. The room with billiard is heritage itself with a 19th century tables and decors. Great place to learn playing with a great snooker master. There are several dining options in the hotel. We loved Grand Indian with delicious food and very friendly service.

Afternoon tea service was a bit longer than expected.

The place is super historical. The stuff was polite and nice. Breakfast has a lot of options. The room was big and super clean. The food in Indian and Thai restaurants was very delicious.

The mattress in our room was a bit old, I think it’s time to change it, my sleep was not very comfortable. I was surprised that I have to pay extra if I want to use sauna in the hotel, the hotel prices are not very cheap already why don’t they let guests use all the facilities I don’t understand.

We only stayed here for one night, which wasn't long enough to fully explore all the hotel's facilities, but what we did experience was first class. Our rooms were stylish, and the public areas very grand. We enjoyed our dinner at the Grand Thai, and the breakfast buffet was exceptional. Yes, it felt very different from the usual warm exuberance of other Sri Lankan hotels, but the staff were still friendly when you interacted with them, and the service was impeccable. A member of staff approached my father when he was looking at the old photos of the hotel, and when he heard that my parents had been to a dance at the hotel on their honeymoon in the 1960s, he took the time to show us the ballroom, which my father really appreciated. Another member of staff opened up the gift shop and then the jewellery shop for me, so that I could have a look around, patiently waiting and showing me everything she had.

I would have liked to stay much longer!
