For a chain hostel, this one was pretty good. Rooms and bed were very comfortable. The hang out space is nice and spacious, but because it's so big, I feel like people tended to keep to themselves. The staff was very friendly and the location is amazing for exploring Ximending. Best part of the hostel is the location.
It was a bit annoying to have to have your key at all times to get in and out of the room side of the building into the lobby where your shoes and the entrance/exit are. Getting to my room on the 6th floor meant always having to go to the second floor and then taking an elevator there or walking up if the wait is too long. Wasn't a dealbreaker for staying here, but just something to be away of. I appreciated the no shoes policy in the property, but it was annoying having to plan out the logistics of what shoes I wore because you only had one designated shoe spot. So if I changed shoes, I would have to make sure I brought the existing pair by hand up to my room and then bring down the new pair. Again, not a deal breaker, but just something to point out.

Very clean and comfortable beds in the 4 person dorm. Bathroom was meticulously cleaned everyday which is great. There is quite a big lounge/common area for chilling/eating/working. It's located a ten minute walk from Ximen station and there are multiple bus stops close by as well. Even though it's in Ximen and close to the bustling shipping area, it's still relatively quiet where it is. Overall fantastic stay and would stay at any meander again if this was any indication of quality of stay.
They did have laundry on site but just two machines each (washer and dryer), so maybe you have to wait to use their machines on site. Not a deal breaker by any means though. My only other thing is that the lockers they had were very small and is only good to lock away select valuables, and not to store your whole bag (I just had a carry on backpack).

The hostel is in a great location! It's near the Ximen station, the Rainbow Six Crossing, and the Ximen Night Market! It's very lively with many local restaurants and cafes just walking distance. I was able to take multiple day trips from the Ximen station as well. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They were approachable and answered whatever questions I had. I even ended up getting caught up in a downpour and the hostel had shoe driers! The other guests were super nice as well. This was my first time solo-traveling and as a young female, I felt very safe and comfortable in this hostel.
No complaints!

Huge common area, stocked kitchen, Great location near the movie theater area in Ximen, but far enough that it's not too noisy. Privacy curtains in the dorm room. My dorm room also had a bathroom inside, which was a pleasant surprise. Helpful staff who spoke fluent English :))
Its a tad far from the MRT, but no big deal if you don't have much luggage (I did, unfortunately). Really no big complaints, would definitely choose this hostel again :)

The room was comfortable for a group of four friends sharing a four-bed dorm. Plently of room for luggage. Private bathroom was also great and cleaned daily. The rooms were quiet so we got a great nights sleep. The common area is large and there is lots of information on what to in the city. The front desk is helpful too. The hostel is a short walk to the main downtown area but far enogh away that you can escape it too. We had a great stay here :)
No view from the room but we were out most of the day so didn't bother us too much. No large lockers for bags but a small locker for each bunk. The bottom sheet did come easily off the beds which was low-key annoying haha

Cleanliness of the hostel. When my friend and I arrived, the staff explained everything to us clearly and guided us up to our room. Very professional. You need to leave your shoes in the lobby, in cabinets pre-assigned according to your room assignment. They also provided us slippers which can be used while at the hostel. These slippers should be placed in a basket when you have to check-out. Our room was located in the second floor so an elevator is not needed. Also, upon arriving we saw staff cleaning near our room. And once inside you can smell the strong smell of bleach, others will be bothered by this but we felt relieved as I felt they thoroughly cleaned the room before it gets occupied. Room is airconditioned, has tv and hair drier. Bed was nice and comfortable. I liked it as well as beddings are spotless white. Instead of just having a single key card, they provided us each. When you need some free toiletries/stuff you just have to present your key card each time. I liked the common place as well. You can even work, play some reacreational games and meet some new travelers. You can also bring food inside (common kitchen). Coffees and teas as much as you want as a water dispenser is available, as well as microwave and utensils. We went into the rooftop but it was quiet and kind of dim as they use a yellow bulb although it's a nice area to relax aside from your room. It's an open area btw. The hostel can be quite far from Ximending Exit 5, around 1km-1.2km on foot. Although when you exit from the mrt (Exit 5) you just have to walk across it and walk past Watson's and just continue walking until the last street where a hospot restaurant is located.

Comfortable, cosy. Friendly staff, showed us around the place and the rules, everything was clear. I even accidentally locked my wallet in the lock with my room card inside and had it solved by the staff, who never complained, they were really nice and willing to help. Overall good amenities, friendly environment.
Not much, it's a pity you can't smoke on the rooftop, considering there is a barbecue there, and there is no other open air area within the hostel premises. Place was empty on a Saturday evening. Aside from that, maybe was just that I didn't spent enough time in Meander, but there weren't many activities to meet fellow travellers it seemed. I would expect a bit more life, given the style of the hostel and the location. But that depends on your experience, and are always a bit more subjective. The place still delivered overall.

The common area was large enough, most of the day empty, but evenings was nice, sometimes there were people you could talk to. The staff working there were also extremely friendly. The location was also perfect, the subway station nearby, many shops, easy to reach, ... Each bed had a curtain and electricity plug for different countries. There were enough shower and bathrooms! Washing machine and dryer are also available...
I had a bed in mixed dorm, which was a male dorm in practice, and fully booked all 12 beds! So most of the time smelled bad. The mattress was too soft but still okay! The floor of the room I stayed for one week, I think was not cleaned at all in that week! The elevator is from the second floor, so if one has a lot of luggage could be troublesome!

Very well designed hostel. I stayed in the 4 bed dorms and in a private. Both were really good. There is a large communal area that is open 24/7 and staff were so friendly and accommodating. I did meet some amazing people at the hostel but it was by chance and timing. I think organising more activities would greatly benefit the place due to it's size.
The only thing I think needs changing is just the after-hours check-in. I got off a very late flight (12.30am) and hadn't received the check-in instructions. I didn't know this but it was because there were still staff on-site until after 2am when I arrived. Without an activated sim or data, it was a bit stressful not knowing if I would be able to enter the hostel or not.

The staff at Meander Hostel gave us a friendly welcome and showed us around. We liked the slippers and shoe cupboards, the bright open common room with seating, sink, crockery, water dispenser and laundry facilities. Happy to see a recycling bin. There was a fun atmosphere. Our room was spacious, the beds were comfy and our private bathroom was nice. The free WiFi worked well. The staff were helpful answering our questions. Overall we had a pleasant stay and thought it was good for a hostel. The location was great being a shortish walk to Ximen metro station, The Red House and Ximending shopping area with plenty of places to eat and the Taipei lantern festival on while we were there.
Unfortunately the corridors and room smelt damp and even though we kept the air conditioning on all the time it didn't get rid of the smell. The staff did say we could change rooms if we wanted to but we figured the other rooms would probably be the same as they said there was a problem with humidity. It was good to gave access to a laundry room but for the size of hostel and number of people wanting to use the facilities I think it would be handy to have more than two washers and two dryers. Also the lift only goes from the 2nd floor so we had to carry our suitcases up from the ground floor.
