Mc-Elly’s is an older hotel in the older part of Arusha, but still in good condition. The rooms are a good size and beds have a mosquito net. Mc-Elly’s provide an excellent smorgasbord breakfast, with very friendly kitchen staff. The management of Mc-Elly’s was also very accommodating when I had to change my booking due to unrest in Nairobi. My thanks to the manager of Mc-Elly’s. Mc-Elly’s is also close to Shopper’s supermarket (possibly the best in town).

Due to the older nature of the building, there is no modern AC. That was not a huge issue during my stay. There was a portable AC device in the room, but, in my experience, these are very noisy and you need to put one end out of the window (not really terribly practical). There were a few minor issues with the room - bathroom door wouldn’t stay open, the hot water in the shower took a really long time to come (although it did eventually arrive) - but nothing serious.

We stayed the hotel 2 nights before/after a safari tour. The room was very compact (only a chair, no sofa), but it was no problem in our case. The staffs were supporttive, flexible, and managed our requests very welll. The restaurant in the hotel was a local atmosphere, but we enjoyed a dinner, breakfast there. The location was convinient. There were surpermarkets, local markets and shopping streets.

The water puressuer in the bathroom was weak, but it was ok for a night. It might be a bit noisy because it is in the center of the city.

It’s clean and the bed with net so you don’t need to worry about the nighttime. They just upgraded the WiFi so everything should be fine. I won’t say it’s the best hotel in Arusha but it worth to stay.

I stayed for three days, two days before my safari and one day after. The receptionists are so good and kind, and there are security in front the gate during the whole night makes me feel safe. Just one thing is the chief, I paid my dinner in the front gate, then I just ordered two main meals, the chief just throw the lid onto the table and watching at me, when I sit there she was keep complaining for almost 10 minutes. Can you imagine that? Do or not, if there are some rules, say it everyone will obey the rules, all the chief need to do is cook, none of these are not your business. I will leave 5 starts here because of the receptionist and all the staffs here are so nice.

Amazing value for money. Nice room with views to the mountain, very clean, comfortable bed and most importantly, keeps the outside noise out despite being surrounded by busy streets. I stayed only one night but staff I encountered was lovely, especially the lady at the restaurant during the breakfast service. Breakfast included in price was very good and tasty. It's not a luxury place but it's well maintained and has everything you need, can't fault anything.

Edwin was very accommodating. And so was Lidya. We had trouble with the credit card machine/internet. So Lidya accompanied us to the ATM so we could get some cash to pay for the hotel bill. The flight the next day to Kilimanjaro Airport was early so we requested a six o clock am drop off to the Kilimanjaro Airport. The driver picked us up around 6:00 am and we got to the airport around 7:00 am. But before we left, the hotel prepared a box break fast for us to go. Thank you Edwin and Lidya. Friendly staff, conventient location in the middle of Arusha, good wifi signal, comfortable bed, great breakfast with different food options.

Slightly noisy at night (windows didn't close all the way and were thin) because of the busy street right next to the hotel. Could not get a decent temperature going in the shower. Either ice cold or scalding hot, and the water pressure was affected, too (the more i turned it up, the hotter the water got).

I was only here for one night but the staff were all very helpful, I had a delicious dinner and the next morning staff packed me a takeaway breakfast as I left early for a safari. They kindly stored my luggage while I was on safari.

The hot water was difficult to get working- it took a really long time but eventually worked.

This is my favourite hotel in Arusha - the price is very reasonable and the rooms are clean, comfortable, the aircon always works and the rooms are quiet even though we are in the centre of Arusha. Staff are all so friendly and solve any problem. Breakfast is also one of the best ive had in Arusha

Comfortable Rooms with mosquito net and WLAN in the rooms. Staff, especially at the reception reliable and helpful for advice. We left our valuables in the safe at the reception and got everything safely back. Restaurant on the 1st floor, opened all day till 9pm with tasty food and friendly staff

The breakfast was definitely aimed at an African diet rather than European, although they did have toast, cornflakes, and fresh fruit available. This isn’t really a complaint, just a matter of personal taste
