We LOVED our stay at Kuwa Hotel. Rachel and the girls made us feel so at home. We stayed here for a week and for the first time ever we were sad to leave a hotel. Every morning they’ve blessed us with a delicious breakfast and fresh juices. We wanted to try local Swahili food and they have prepared it for us the same night, which was amazing once again! The staff is able to fix anything for you with a lot of love. The hotel is close to the beach, a private and public one which has multiple hotels and small restaurants. The hotel and staff is 1000% worth a visit. We will miss you Kuwa! Lots of love from Nina and Elsa

A lovely, place with a good size swimming pool in a beautiful ,well-kept tropical garden. Large and nicely decorated apartment with great terrace. Incredibly comfortable bed and always spotless bedding. All amenities -for example laundry service ,daily cleaning, breakfast (especially fruits juices and tasty coffee)mini bar and beach bag with beach towels- make a stay very pleasant and easy..All team which works there is amazing and provide five star service - special thanks to Emanuel. Close to many restaurants and shops.

Unfortunately, the photos do not reflect anymore the actual condition - the swimming pool, although nice, requires renovation - the paint is peeling from the bottom, the seating area by the pool looks neglected and does not encourage relaxation. The apartment fridge, walls and floor also needs to be refreshed. Although I am aware that in such a climate and high humidity, keeping the bathroom in good condition is challenging, I was very disappointed when I saw the mouldy shower and sanitaryware in a really bad condition (most probably due to the salty water which comes from the taps.)During electricity interruptions the air conditioning does not work, and the apartment quickly heats up to oven temperature. No air condition in the living room makes sleeping there not comfortable.

Wonderful facilities. Amazing staff of the property. From the moment we arrived, we felt well looked after. Gloria, Emanuel, and Ester served us with a smile every day. Nothing was too much trouble. We felt relaxed every day of our 17-night stay. Breakfast was delicious, and the room was cleaned immpecably daily. The owners should be very proud of what they have created. This was our first visit to Zanzibar, and hopefully, it will not be the last. We love small establishments like this, and the proximity to the beach was wonderful. We needed to relax and that was delivered. I do hope that as time progresses that Kuwa does not lose its African charm. It will stay in our hearts for a very long time. Love you all. Martyn & Helen

Very cozy hotel with amazing and very friendly staff and hosts. The room was very spacious with clean linens and good pressure in the shower. Breakfasts were amazing and here they can make good espresso as well. The swimming pool and some shadows around it could really provide some rest from the hot weather conditions on Zanzibar.

The hotel doesn't serve meal except some snacks and breakfasts, but there are many restaurants around, so it's not a big problem. The hotel doesn't have its own beach, but there's a bar nearby that the hotel has an arrangment with and it's possible to borrow the bar's sunbeds in exchange for a drink or some meal. During our stay there was always low tide of the ocean at the beach at Kuwa, and one must walk really long in order to manage to swim.

We really appreciated the atmosphere of the place ! beautiful set up, wonderful decorations, pleasant pool. Good localisation as well. The staff was amazing especially Emmanuel, Esta and the whole crew, very helpful, understanding, sociable, if we had the chance, we would have stayed longer.

No air condition, the fan is just above the bed. No intimacy in the room downstairs, it’s better for couples only (no door between the bedroom and the shower). No paper toilet and no towels but the problem was easily resolved.

the staff at the hotel was perfect. Gloria was very helpful and kind, Emanuel was also nice. the accommodation had wonderful equipment. we really liked the environment and the garden of the accommodation. The photos of the room are identical to reality. breakfast was great. every day we had clean towels, a clean washed floor without a grain of sand and a beautifully made bed. we thank the staff for cleaning the room. we really liked that we didn't prefer any overcrowded super hotel, because we enjoyed the privacy and intimacy of a small hotel with a wonderful atmosphere. we had the pool to ourselves. Kuwa Hause is amazing and if I were to return to Zanzibar again or recommend accommodation to someone, it would be this one. We liked it very much and recommend it.

on the last day, the tour guide messed up our schedule. sometimes it's better to say things straight than to improvise at any cost, i.e. money. it happened to us that the guide was supposed to take us for snorkeling in the afternoon instead of in the morning, while the engine on the boat broke down and when we asked him to go slowly due to the fact that there were already bigger waves and we were tired after the whole day and we are not good swimmers, the guide with a big smile didn't even realize that we didn't feel comfortable. not everything is always hakuna matata for everyone.

What we liked the most was the well kept garden and nice chilling area with hammocks, board games and a ping pong table(that was a great bonus) Swimming pool was clean and big enough. The breakfasts were great and huuge! It really was a lot of food so we always saved some for a later snack. The staff were friendly.

The apartments require a lot of maintanence, not just us but other guests also struggled with same issues. For example the air condition was leaking a lot (small leakage is normal, but it was leaking to the extend that we had to move the carpet and our luggage) Toilet seat was broken. Wifi was very weak and was constantly cutting off. But the worst thing was that the beddings and towels had an awful smell and didn't feel clean. Which should not happen when the nightly rate is over 100$. If the management works on the maintanence and laundry detergent, this place will be really nice and comfortable.

Staying at Kuwa felt like home away from home. Upon entrance you’re greeted with freshly squeezed juice. Breakfast is more than you can ask for! Delicious fruit, eggs, pastries and more. The room was spacious, everything was immaculately clean. Gloria the manager is amazing! Nothing is too much trouble. There’s a small amount of rooms at Kuwa so sometimes it feels like you have a huge villa to yourself. The other residents were very friendly and Gloria and even set up a taxi share for us with another couple to an event nearby. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!

Everything was amazing!

It’s a small hotel with beautiful garden, swimming pool and smiling people. Very detail-oriented. We had a tour one day in the early morning and they were happy to serve us breakfast earlier. They cook everything for your order so the food is fresh and hot. We enjoyed our stay and felt very safe and happy!

Rooms need a little update but not too much. The bed could be longer, my husband is 185cm and couldn’t fit in bed :))

Emmanuel and his staff are simply amazing. They were extremely accommodating, friendly and did everything to make our stay enjoyable. The rooms as well as the premises were clean. Breakfast was tasty with enough variety, although way too much for our family. The lounge area with hammocks and couches is peaceful.

For me, the bed was way too hard. I like my bed with a little more cushion. This was way too hard for my wife and my back. Our kids didn't seem to mind, however. I would have liked some evening entertainment around the poolside for those who don't want to venture out to find entertainment
