I had a separate room with a large double bed and an own bathroom and it was great. Bed was spacious and cozy. Room itself didn't have a window, but the bathroom which is separated by a moving door. Lights were good, power outlets next to the bed also. Great staff, Matty of course the best. Love him! Nice breakfast with fresh fruits, eggs as you want them freshly made, and changing things like Guacamole, cucumber salad or fried rice. Lots of things offered to participate in (often for free) like a cooking class twice a week, or some food crawls. Tours to the sticky waterfall are organised also as a hostel tour for a small fee (although I didn't participate but many others did). Most of tours you can book in Chiang Mai can be booked directly here. Two cute dogs live also here and the hostel has a welcoming atmosphere. You easily get in contact with other guests, but it's not a party location which is great (quiet after 10 pm). Location was good, just a few steps away from Chiang Mai Gate and the night market there.

Wifi was okay but a bit unstable and slow. Bathroom needs some renovation, especially some loose fittings and limestone. When I checked in, I was presented with so many rules I was a bit overwhelmed (but you can easily follow them). Only instant coffee at the breakfast - real one costs extra (but it's a good one then)

I liked this hostel, it has a relaxed vibe and met nice people to socialise with, the hostel also has good activities to do. Lovely breakfast and wonderful location very close to a good night market for dinner. Very close walking distance to central chiang mai too. Most staff were friendly and polite

I don’t like taking my shoes off to come in the main area or bedrooms, also the drain in the bathroom smelt. The rooms could have been cleaned more often as a standard during the stay.

Loved the airy and open design of the hostel. The hostel's staff were very friendly and helpful, they prepare a varied breakfast every morning. The hostel keeps two cute dogs that always made my day, really enjoyed the ample working space. There is a social vibe that's inclusive and not crazy at all. The location is also great, located just outside of the South gate and it's easy to bike everywhere. The bed space is very comfortable and clean.

I think toilets could have been cleaner / cleaned more often, but it's okay.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly - great for organising anything you needed to book ! They had activities on site- we really enjoyed the cooking class offered on our first night - got a taste of a local grandmothers recipe ! The room was comfortable and there was washing facilities with a place to hang your clothes out to dry ! Sociable but not noisy or intrusive !! Comfortable bed with aircon.

The first room we were in unfortunately had a funny smell. But the staff were very accommodating and moved us with no issue - the new room was perfect -likely just that room had the issue and they were quick to investigate the problem in the room. This would definitely not put us off staying there again !

The most comfortable hostel I have stayed in yet - bed layout is ideal, bathrooms are modern and clean. Me and my friend agreed this free breakfast was the best we’ve had in South East Asia so far (tasty and varied options). The staff are so kind and helpful, couldn’t fault anything really.

It’s a little further out than the Old town hostels but only by about 15 minutes walk. Makes up for it by being 4 minute walk from Chiang Mai Gate night market.

Dorm rooms had very large beds which made it easy to spread out and make myself comfortable! The staff was the best part however as they were super fun and engaging with guests and you could tell they really cared about them having a good time. Breakfast was also delicious and had a good variety. Oh and almost forgot - the dogs!! They were so cute and fun to cuddle/play with.

I wouldn't say there was anything I disliked about the property but I do remember the doors being super loud so it was hard to keep the room quiet at night if anyone needed to go to the bathroom or leave the room.

Very comfortable beds, I was in the double bed dormitory (3 beds), it was really nice. You really feel like you have you own space, it's much better than the usual dormitories in hostels. I do recommend the 3 beds rather than the 5, if you can. The breakfast is REALLY GOOD. They cook you eggs, you have guacamole, lots of fruits, as much bread as you want,... The common space of the hostel is nice, very big, with long tables to sit and chat with people at breakfast. There is a cafe/bar/restaurant in the hostel, convenient, and it's not noisy. The location is very good, not inside the walls but 5m walks, that's no problem. And close to a small night market that's really good.

The bathrooms were clean, but for several nights there were sewer smells coming out of the toilets, that was not great. Although the hostel has a big common space, it's really quiet in the evenings (no noise after 10 policy). It's good for sleeping, of course, but it means you don't really have the chance to have a beer and chat with people and meet others. Maybe if they were to set up more tables outside in the yard and allow people to gather there, it would be a nice idea. Because of this we did not really meet much people while we were there, paradoxically.

This is an amazing hostel. The staff there are amazingly helpful and did a lot for me to make the most of my week in Chiang Mai. They have so many tours and activities you can book through them. They helped me plan almost an entire week of stuff, even calling the places to make sure I wasn't repeating the same things on different days (like going to the same areas, or parks etc.) If the pick up time is before their breakfast time they will package up a small to-go box for you. The breakfast is also great, you can have them make eggs for you in whatever form you want. And they also have fresh fruits, different salads etc. The rooms are great. Even in the shares rooms it's like you have a mini private room. Good amount of room and the curtain works great. The common areas are very big and conformable to chill in and meet people staying there. Outdoor area with some hammocks and a fountain. There are plenty of bathrooms and showers (separate stalls so the bathrooms themselves should stay dry - not always common in Asia)

I never saw insects or anything in my room, but there are many ants in the bathroom or other areas. Not a big deal really, the place is kept very clean. Just something to know. There's nothing there to fill water bottles and stuff. They have bottles of water (and other drinks) that you can buy. The walls are also very thin so noise can travel.

The daily breakfast was delicious with all the essentials of fresh fruit, coffee, and eggs. The environment that Poshtel sets is comfortable, safe, fun, friendly, and mature. I immediately felt at home, even before arriving, (which was at an odd an unpredictable time), as the owners ensured that I knew how to enter the hostel and had the number of the person to contact if needed. I could have stayed here for months if my vacation time allowed. The owners are an adorable and friendly couple with an also adorable newborn baby who I only saw once, (so no worries about crying).

Not that I did not like this, but it may be good to consider that breakfast is hand-prepared in the kitchen every morning by normal people, so it might not be ready exactly at 8am. If you have an early pick-up for a tour, perhaps plan to get breakfast elsewhere if you have to eat right at 8am.

Great location, genuinely wonderful staff, and a unique layout for the dorm rooms - hardly feels like a dorm, you have your own pod which almost feels like a private room. Loved getting a queen bed in a hostel! I came back and stayed again shortly after my first visit because it’s definitely the best hostel I’ve found in Chiang Mai. Lena in particular is a gem, always enjoyed chatting to her and she is extraordinarily helpful when booking tours or planning trips. A relatively social hostel without being a party hostel - usually quiet at night but easy to get chatting to people in the common area.

No drinking water dispenser, you can buy bottled water but this feels so wasteful to me. Seems like an easy thing to fix!
