We've stayed at this hotel the very first time we were in Chiang Mai and just fell in love with it. Eight years later we are back in Chiang Mai and were thrilled to see that Golden Bell still existed (especially after the pandemic) and still had the same charm. Located just outside the old city wall (by Chiang Mai's gate) it offers you a relaxing place where to rest after a whole day of temple hopping. Should you visit Chiang Mai over a weekend you will find that the Saturday night market is just a couple of streets away! We had a room upgrade and our room was amazing! Spacious and very quiet. Staff was super friendly and attentive and the breakfast was perfect! We will definitely be coming back (hopefully in less than 8 years time)

Honestly, there's nothing I would change

I stayed, on two separate occasions, in one of the larger rooms that overlook the pool and couldn't be more happy with my stay. The hotel is at the end of an alley, far enough away from the main road that there is no traffic noise. Breakfast was good, the pool was great for cooling down on hot days and they have parking available right next to the hotel. Would happily stay here again.

I have no complaints about my stay!

-The location, this hotel is really well situated. Easy access to the restaurants’ area and the night markets. - Access to free water bottles all day long, which is really useful in Thailand. - The staff of the hotel was great. - The access 24h/24h to free water bottle especially when you are traveling with babies.

-The swimming pool wasn’t that clean. At some corners of the pool there was green mold. - The baby cot was an old one and the blankets weren’t washed properly. Finally we had the baby sleeping with us in the king size bed.

The breakfast had a lot of variety. Very satisfying! The location was central and easy to explore on foot. Close to the Chiang Mai Gate and the old city. Only a short 12 minute taxi ride to the airport. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed. Really liked the warm, helpful and friendly receptionist! She made us feel very welcome!

Unfortunately we arrived in the afternoon with construction workers busy below making a lot of noise. Of course this was completely out of the hotel's control. There was nothing we were unhappy with in relation to the staff and facilities.

The best feature of the hotel is the close proximity to a small night market with lots of street food. It’s a small hotel with some charm but it provides everything you need. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was adequate

Despite being in a small cul de sac there was a lot noise from outside into the early hours of the morning. There was some construction work nearby that didn’t start till midnight!! To be fair this finished the last day of my stay.

In a quiet area but only 4 minutes from the main area. Air conditioning was just right and didn't blow on you when sleeping. Very helpful staff. Nice breakfast that you could have in air-conditioning or outside. Most helpful when we needed to quickly arrange another night. Small well maintained pool - lovely to have a cool off.

Nothing

The hotel is quite nice, and in a convenient location. The room is comfortable. The staff is very helpful. The breakfast is good, but nothing special. The swimming pool is a plus, although the water was very cold when I used it.

The sound insulation of the rooms is rather bad, one morning we were woke up by the sound of our neighbours talking.

Everything! This hotel was the perfect fit in the perfect location for us. Staff were always friendly & very helpful. Booked several tours with no issues. Daily breakfast service was terrific. Clean & refreshing swimming pool. Great value for money. Would happily return here.

Hard to find fault with anything.

Breakfast was good and staff was extremely accommodating. We arrived early from the airport and even though it was late, staff provided us with good vegetarian breakfast. Location: It is centrally located and closed to South Gate. Night street food facility is just 100 meters from the hotel. Big market is just across the street. Room: was alright. Bed was comfy.

There was a small window that we could not open. It faced building behind the hotel. Hotel is converted from old home and rooms are on the smaller side.

Super polite and friendly staff, very abundant and varied breakfast, very clean and spacious room with awesome bed and pillows. Position is also very good.

Unfortunately the swimming pool is in the shade almost all day long, couldn't take a dip, too cold. Beige curtains... Not very useful, as the sun comes up the light may wake you.
