Fred and Pilou are absolutely brilliant hosts. Nothing it too much trouble, they will sort out bike/car hire, transfers and have great local knowledge. Fred's French breakfasts are better than any I've had in France:-) The rooms are basic but very clean and comfortable. Efficient air con. The location, for us, was perfect. Restaurants 50 to 300 metres away. The Coconut Kitchen next door was our favourite. Better quality and half the price of some others. We preferred the centre to south of Koh Chang. So Lazy Republic is perfect If you don't rent a bike ir car it's still very easy to move around. Just walk to the road and wait for one of the pickup truck shared taxis.

I was there at the end of the tourist season. The owners were really nice. They gave me some very good recommandations on what to do and where to go. The hotel is really great with a perfect sunset view from the rooftop. I really enjoyed staying there as well as the breakfast food (I really recommend to try at least once) and the bar (great cocktail ☺️). The position of the hotel on the island let you go anywhere quite easily as long as you have a vehicle, but it's also easy to catch a taxi. If I can, I'll certainly come back

We had the pleasure of spending 9 wonderful days at the "Lazy Republique," and it was truly an exceptional experience. The owners welcomed us with such warmth and kindness, sharing their extensive knowledge of Koh Chang and effortlessly communicating in English, French, and Spanish. The entire team was incredibly attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. The rooms provided the perfect retreat for relaxation, and the location couldn't have been better—Lonely Beach was just a short walk away, and exploring the entire island on a scooter was a breeze. The pool and bar were delightful, offering a serene environment to unwind and enjoy the island vibes. Pilou's cocktails were a treat, and Fred's culinary skills were outstanding, adding a delicious touch to our stay. Their expertise truly enhanced our experience. If we ever had any questions, the owners and staff were always approachable and eager to assist. It's worth mentioning that breakfast is served from 8 to 11 a.m., and we loved being able to interact with the owner's cat, adding a charming touch to our stay. We look forward to returning to Koh Chang and staying at the "Lazy Republique" again. Thank you for providing us with such unforgettable memories! ♥️

We absolutely loved our stay at Lazy Republique! The place is wonderful, the bungalows are very nice and comfortable and in contradiction to other places we’ve slept in Thailand: the beds are also very comfortable! Its located in a bit more quiet part of Koh Chang -which we really loved- surrounded by beautiful nature and the bird sounds really have a bit of a jungle experience. It’s close to nice restaurants and beaches and if you have a motorbike it’s very easy to explore the rest of the island. But what we loved the most about our stay are the absolutely amazing hosts! Fred and Pilou are the friendliest people who make you feel at home and we immediately felt so comfortable around them. They are very helpful if you need anything, make the most amazing breakfast and Pilou makes really good cocktails at the beautiful and cozy rooftop bar (with very nice view during the sunset!). I would definitely recommend this place and will 100% come back next time :)

The atmosphere and the hosts . The bar was a nice place to hang out and chat with the owners but also other hotel guests . I always got great recommendations and the owners can arrange tours for you . I loved the pool and how quiet it was on the property . No noisy guests or crowds- everything was super relaxing . Their cat is also super adorable !

Fantastic resort with large and comfortable bungalows surrounded by beautiful trees. Pool area is new, spacious and very cozy. Large bathroom and great water pressure in the shower. Bed was amazing. Owners and staff are very helpful and kind.

In addition to the enchanting surroundings and wonderful hosts, the property boasts a magnificent swimming pool that was an absolute savior during the scorching midday heat. Taking a refreshing dip in the pool was an incredible way to cool down and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. And let's not forget the lovely garden, adding an extra touch of serenity and natural beauty to the whole experience. Overall, discovering this place has been an extraordinary stroke of luck. We are filled with gratitude for the remarkable experience and the memories we have created. This is truly a place that leaves an indelible mark on one's soul. The only downside of our stay was that we had to reluctantly continue our trip. We were so captivated by the place that we couldn't help but wish for a time-stopping device to extend our stay indefinitely. Pilou and Fred, if only you could have magically made our departure date disappear, we would have happily stayed forever, leaving all our travel plans behind!

Super comfy bungalows, cleaned daily We loved the water refill station and the bottles they gave us for the stay so we didn’t have to waste any plastic! So many seats around the pool and always good amount of shade The hosts were both lovely and we had amazing cocktails ,you need to try!! There are lots of great and cheap restaurants in walking distance where we had the best Thai food of our trip Overall we enjoyed our stay so much and hope we can come back one day!!

Amazing stay in koh chang! The owners, Pilou and Fred, were very welcoming and helpful. They gave recommendations for all the best spots and places to visit on the island which did not disappoint! They will also help book you onto activities, such as the boat trip we did around some coral reefs on the koh rang national park which was an unbelievable place to see. Thank you

One of the highlights of our 7 months travelling. The owners were incredibly helpful and welcoming during our stay on Koa Chang. Location is near to an array of restaurants and stores. Few different beaches all 10 mins away walking or in a taxi. Breakfast each day was excellent and they have a lovely bar for socialising and watching sunset each evening. Rooms are clean, cosy and make you feel like you’re in the jungle. Merci beaucoup for everything Pilou and Fred. We hope to return someday!!!
