This is a truly unique place to stay. The hotel is located in a secluded bay that can only be reached by water, surrounded by breathtaking cliffs and real jungle. It feels like a charming little village. The hotel itself is very cozy, with warm wooden tones. We stayed in a corner room with a bathtub and a balcony, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. Huge thanks to Bee from the reception—she is truly the soul of this place! She gave us a warm welcome and explained everything in detail, especially about the monkeys. Some are mischievous troublemakers, while others are friendly and peaceful—we ended up meeting both kinds! The monkeys can be a nuisance for the locals, but for hotel guests, their daily balcony run was quite an entertaining sight. However, be careful—make sure to keep your balconies closed! On the photos, you can even see both—a friendly one, calmly munching on leaves, and a cheeky troublemaker. We really enjoyed our walks to Phra Nang Beach. We set off around sunrise at 6:40 AM and, both times, we encountered a monitor lizard along the way. The path runs along a sheer cliff with mesmerizing stalactites—an unforgettable sight. Breakfasts were delightful! I got hooked on the salad bar and the incredibly delicious nut dressing. In the evening, there was a live music concert, and at night, the hotel grounds were beautifully illuminated with Avatar-themed lights, creating a magical atmosphere. The hotel has water boilers available for refilling bottles.

Overall, the place is good value for the money. The room and pool were nice - the pool wasn't very deep and the outdoor area of the rooms on the ground floor could have used some cleaning, but it wasn't too bad. Breakfast was good and the hotel was conveniently located. Cute monkeys around (that steal stuff - but we were warned beforehand)!

The beach in front of the hotel was not too nice but we knew that beforehand - quite dirty and lots of jellyfish and trash. Prices in the hotel were also way above what you paid in some restaurants nearby. There was nothing we didn't like - the hotel was okay for the price, nothing luxurious, however.

We enjoyed our stay here very much - the rooms were comfortable, clean and the hotel itself is very well located. An easy walk to beaches, pier, and shops. The staff were friendly and attentive, storing luggage for us and offering the use of the air conditioned "relaxing room" poolside while we were waiting to check in. The breakfast buffet was good and the outdoor dining area very pleasant, overlooking the water. Entertainment was also provided nightly in this same outdoor area; when we were there, we enjoyed the excellent cover tunes of a Filippino duo (singer and keyboard). A great way to unwind after a day of touring around. The pool was great and we appreciated that it was quiet (no loud music).

The monkeys were a minor nuisance, but the staff had warned us and do their best to keep them away from guests. We were mindful of the need to close and lock our doors and didn't leave things lying around. However, it was off-putting to see a monkey sitting IN the water dispenser provided for guests use. While it seemed like a great idea to provide water to guests in this way (through centrally located dispensers), we didn't want to use the machines the monkeys seemed to be using too!

Nice and comfortable. Very close to main attractions and the pier. I would be careful about putting clothes up in the balcony to dry out because the monkeys stole our bras 😂 but everything with the hotel is great!

the hotel was clean and in a good location. The beds were on the hard side, but the bedding was wonderful. We are happy that they trimmed the trees so the monkeys went to the other hotels. I gave a rating of 9 out of 10 stars because the breakfast needs to be improved. They had an egg station the first morning which was great. But then they took it away and the eggs were cold.

I came to Railay after 25 years and was not disappointed. While the bungalows have given way to resorts the feel is still the same and Avatar was a perfect place to set up base. Central to everything and having lots of meal options nearby, it was perfect. Staff were always available and willing to help while not being pushy and the pool and gardens are immaculate. The breakfast is really good and water outlets to fill your bottles. I will definitely be coming back in the future.

Dinners are expensive compared to nearby outlets but the quality is there, you have lots of options available.

The location, bed and beautiful cozy ambiance

Couldn’t swim in the pool, coz wild monkeys were swimming there too. It’s fun to see them outside on your terrace but they are wild and bit aggressive. If you don’t mind it, you can use the pool as others do.

Property could use some work, the room could be much brighter, but spacious and clean

Inattentive staff. No one helped with luggage, no friendly introduction, no one spoke to us. Breakfast was very mediocre. No one to help bags from pier to hotel which can be difficult with heavy luggage.

We had a lovely stay here. The staff are brilliant, all such lovely welcoming people who helped us with everything we needed. They were wonderful! The breakfast was delicious, a buffet with a wide selection of hot and cold foods, all of which were really yummy. The egg station was great. The rooms were really spacious and bright, with beautiful decor and a luxurious feel. The air conditioning was also really good. The beds were huge, and so comfortable. We liked the refillable water station in every hallway. The hotel generally has a good feel, and a great atmosphere of calm. We liked the balcony, it was fun to see the monkeys, they didn’t affect us at all! We also had dinner here, and the food was great! Good vegetarian options. It’s in a good position, quiet but close to walk everywhere. All in all we really enjoyed it.

The only negative was the music played at breakfast and dinner. At breakfast, a few days in a row they played a medley of Disney songs despite there being no children present. It was really loud, and the songs were on repeat. Tale As Old As Time played like 3 times, and Let It Go and Arabian Nights is too much for that early! Some soothing instrumentals would be perfect. At dinner, every night they played reggaeton on repeat. Again, this was super loud, and the same songs kept playing. The ambience and decor of the restaurant is lovely, and the food is fantastic, but the music really ruins it. Something more ambient would be good, to go with the great setting.

Super nice staff, they allow us to sleep in a different room twice just because my wife saw a gecko in the room we booked (which was the private pool room). Overall clean. Shower was good, provided pool towels. 5 minutes walk to railay beach or 10 minutes walk to the other beach. They provided free water bottles and coffee pods. The private pool was nice, but not private, people can see you.

Breakfast was average, nothing special. They have a singer every day from 8 to 10:30, which is annoying if you wanna sleep early. They don't have any deals for private tours. You can come to the hotel by taking long tail boat to east railsy pier which is 100 baht per person and takes about 10 minutes.
